I know I would like to hear what wisdom you have to share. I don’t know why I seem to be in a constant state of longing or yearning or hunger. I see people around me who seem happy and in relationships and I wonder why it seems other people are fortunate while I seem to get involved with guys who are not available whether physically emotionally etc. or have some dysfunction for example addiction etc. so I feel like there’s something about me that is attracting these types of people at the same time I am rarely attracted to the guys who are attracted to me I don’t know why. I’m usually not attracted to them physically or something about their personality maybe I’m just too picky I don’t know. I’m dissatisfied with my weight you know my appearance I’ve been a yo-yo dieter. I go through phases where I’ll and exercise and I feel good about myself then I stop doing that and I neglect my health and I start to feel bad about my appearance. I struggle with self-love and self-acceptance. I know this has something to do with my childhood I’ve been in and out of therapy for many many years but nothing really changed except that I became more self-aware and understood some things about myself however I think the only thing I really learned from my time in psychotherapy is that the only thing we can do is try to manage our moods or feelings and try to find coping methods that are healthy but other than that I don’t think I really got anything else out of therapy. I don’t know why I feel so dissatisfied and so again like I am in this constant state of longing and then people talk about having a “God shaped hole” so you know I’ve taken the spiritual route in the past going to different churches and for a while I was a Buddhist and the daily practice seemed to help somewhat. I don’t know I guess I think that I’m looking for something to fix me or cure me once and for all and then I can finally be happy but I suppose the reality is that every day I have to work at being happy or choose to be happy, choose to not be jealous or angry, choose to appreciate what I have and be grateful.
