I'd like to shoot Ektachrome because I just came into possession of my late grandfather's old slide projector. He would always shoot slide film on our family outings and his fishing trips and we would get to sit down and see his photos as a family. He was always so happy to share his photos with the people he loved, and show us, through his photography, what he was most proud of (his grandkids and his fish lol). I think shooting Ektachrome and putting them through my grandpa's slide projector would bring back lots of happy memories and reconnect me with a man I really looked up to and who gave me my first camera and inspired me to start shooting film. Thanks for the video!
Brennan Smith - great story, though most likely your grandfather’s slide projector was for 35mm slides? I believe this give away is for 120 format film (that just came out), and 120 slides are fairly rare.
bwvids Oh! I didn’t realize it was only for 120 since he was shooting both 35 and 120. My grandpas slides were definitely 35mm! Thanks for your reply :)
Actually you are probably correct! FSC has not sold Ektachrome yet in either format so both are still “new” from their POV and hence they were shooting both. All of the news lately is on the 120 (and 4x5) format so I just assumed that is what he was referring to.
I cut my teeth on this film when I was stationed in Germany (1976-1980). Learned a lot developing the film in my bathroom and printing them using the Cibachrome process at the lab. I made a lot of mistakes but learned to respect this film's character of smooth color production. I loved the fidelity of Ektachrome. Right now I have a few rolls (outdated) in my film refrig in the garage, but I have not shot anything due to my health. I am glad this film is back. I hope to be able to get back out start shooting again.

So awesome! I have been shooting a lot of Kodak Gold lately for color and can’t wait to get my hands on Ektachrome! Thanks for this incredible video and for sponsoring a giveaway!
I start shooting Positive film in the 60's and quit around 2005. I shot a lot of Ektachrome at 1/3 stop under exposed and loved the fantastic color in my 6x6 slides. Still have my old slide projectors and light box to look at slides. I love to see how this new Ektachrome compares to the old in either 35mm or 120. I love 120 Ektachrome over my Nikon D5 and Lecia M camera because, I don't know, you just see a wonderful difference in film. Glad film is coming back.

So o shoot mostly 120 film on my Pentax67 and Rolleiflex. But I did buy some E100 in 35mm but it’s still in my fridge. I’d love to get my hands on some 120 and maybe make a little vid myself.
I would like to shoot Ektachrome because I think it would be a great film to get into E6 film. It was interesting to see how the film behaves with different exposures and formats.
So far I've only shot 35mm Superia and some Kodak black and white that I bought ten years ago before I went digital.... I only have one roll of each left so now i have to figure out what i want to try. I'd love to try 120 film... and I'd love to have an excuse to buy a camera for it.
I've been wanting to shoot ektachrome, slide film in general really, for a while, but I've never been sure of what to shoot with the stuff. I think if I do end up shooting it though, I'd love to shoot some portraiture with it, especially something more abstract or fanciful!
I just tried my first slide film roll. Fujichrome Provia 400F and I am shocked at how different it is but in a good way! I saw Sandra Coan's pics with Kodak Ektachrome and wowza! the colors are amazing! I would like to try it out myself!
I’d love to shoot some slide film because I went through some family photos recently and there were old slide film positives with the projector to show them. I think it would be very neat to compare my photos to my grandfathers.
I got to shoot my first roll in 35mm while visiting Brooklyn last month, definitely will be using my meter next time 😅, but did get a few street portraits. Such beautiful saturation
I shot one roll that was super duper old. It was missing a few bits of grain, but I got 3 viewable shots from that roll of 35 mm. Hope to use this new stuff!
I’d like to shoot it cause I have been waiting for Ektachrome to come out in 120 to try it. I love the way slide film looks and I haven’t shot very much yet actually.
I'd wanna see how it compares next to Provia/Velvia. I'm mainly a Fuji shooter so I'm intrigued by Kodak slide film. I have a whole bunch of film stocks I like to shoot depending on the situation but I love Fuji C200 for its price and Pro400H for its colors.
I haven't shot the new version of Ektachrome and the last time I shot a non-expired roll of the old stuff was nearly 20 years ago. I would love receiving some.
I just started to get serious about shooting film a few months ago. My friend has been letting me shoot with his RB67 and I think it would be amazing to try Ektachrome! We love sharing pictures with each other and have never shot slide film before :)
Have only ever shot one roll of this stuff on 35mm. Would like to try it in 120. Free film would be great, especially since slide film processing is so relatively expensive
Congrats Andy, you are one of the winners of the Ektachrome giveaway! Can you shoot us an email with your mailing address and IG handle? support@filmsupply.club Thank you!
I've never shot Ektachrome since I just got back into film photography this last year and back before it was discontinued I was only taking a black and white film class. I actually only just shot slide film for the first time, Fuji Provia 100f, and absolutely fell in love with it so I'm excited to start shooting more slide film!
I just began my still life photographer career in Paris for a swiss watch brand ! Shooting ektachrome with my Pentax 67 would be so dope for still life plus it would remind me the 4×5 shoots I used to do at school !

I shot a roll of Ektachome in 1967 on a Yashica Mat metering with a Hanimex Sekonic light meter. Out of 12 shots I had 4 published on Norfolk Life magazine covers in the UK
I've only shot 120 slide film on a trip to CDMX and I self-developed. It just didnt' quite live up to what I wanted it to be. I'd love another shot at it.
Would love to try some ektachrome, have never shot it before, and may be chasing some costal landscapes soon. If I got the 120, I would cut it down to 127 to shoot in my baby rollei
I’ve shot a total of 2 rolls os Ecktachrome on 35mm but haven’t developed either of them yet. Kind of building up to a few more rolls before i purchase the chemicals. Favorite film stock?🤔 Tri-x 400 Least favorite? Probably Kodak Gold 200
I only shot color negative film. I generally started shooting film recently. I started shootking on my parents Canon EOS 500n and i think its great not only because it can handle all new canon lenses but because it has also great vf and general nice sturdy feeling to it. I would love to get my hands on some ektachrome. I heard that te difference is huge compere to color negative film stock
I really want to shoot a roll of ektachrome because it’s a super sharp film and contrasty film stock. I’d love to shoot some portraits with this in the studio with off camera flash and some yellow jells
I’m just starting using film and I am currently trying different types of film to get to know how the all behave. Recently I talked with my uncle about film and he mentioned that he used to shoot ektachrome and that I was as a good film to use. So I keen to give it a shot. :)
I just recently bought a Nikon N60 and I absolutely love it! I love taking portraits and doing really artistic, surreal shots. I’d love to shoot with something other than Kodak gold 200, I especially would absolutely love to shoot with this tho!
I humbly suggest bracketing Ektachrome and other color slide films in 1/2 stop increments, but I would still bracket color negative films in full stop increments. (With slide film, a little exposure difference goes a long way and can quickly block up shadows or blow out highlights.)
I just purchased a Mamiya 645 1000S just a couple hours ago and it won’t arrive for another 3 weeks. This would be the perfect first roll of film to try it on. I know it’ll yield great results cause I’ve shot it on 35mm. Regardless, I’m really eager to try this out!
I would like to shoot ektachrome for the challenge! The exposures seem so hard to nail perfectly and it’s not a very forgiving film. Would love to win!
I'm staring my black and white photography class soon as a college freshman and film is one of the things that I will be doing in the class..I don't have any experience yet am fascinated by film and will be working with it soon. He always showed me the film roles but never actually messed with them..now that I'm going to college pursuing photography as a career and education I can see how film is such revolutionary format of capturing pictures
Well I recently just got into medium format so I am trying to shoot all film possible and finding what best suits me. I have not shot slide film since I have gotten into film either so this will be much appreciated in every way.
I really want to try Ektachrome. I am new to this Film stuff. I just got my first SLR camera thats why i want to try Ekta too. I was shooting with Point and shoot camera and I broke it about 4/5 camera. so yeah. I like Agfa Vista 200 but it so hard to find in my place. Wml.
I literally just bought 2 rolls of ektachrome last week from you guys for my canon ae1. I’ve never shot it before so I’m excited. I usually love Kodak portra bc of the dynamic range so this will be interesting exposing accurately. I was very indifferent about Provia 100f so I’ll give ektachrome a try. I would love to try it on 120 for my mamiya m645
I shot some Ecktachrome back in the 70s (when I was too mean to buy Kodachrome), would be fun to try the new one, especially if I can dig out an old slide or two from back then and recreate the shots 😺
Love shooting the old E100G in MF 6x9 - the slides look 🎞 ❤️😆! Can’t wait to try the new E100 in MF as well and compare! Looking forward to LF as well.
I recently shot some expired Kodachrome rolls and I was really afraid of how the photos were going to turn out because I didn't know if I should overexpose or not. Some photos I overexposed one stop, some others 1/3 and some I shot them at boxspeed, and I really loved the results, didn't see much difference beetwen the boxspeed photos and the overexposed ones
Slide film is usually projected. So it looks fabulous when you under expose it by 1/2 or 1 stop. As a result you get saturated image. I usually underexpose slide and overexpose the negatives
@@carlosa8262 Yeahh... Negatives have upto 5 stops of latitude... But you need to be spot on while exposing positive film... I always follow expose for shadows for negatives, and expose for highlights for positive/digital
I would love to shoot on a new roll of ektachrome, because i have a roll of 120 ektachrome that expired in 1998 and think it would be cool to compare images from the two
Kinda wanna be experimental and try pinhole photography with slide film in order to get those punchy colors. I've also haven't tried either of those things yet, so it'll be an interesting learning experience haha. As of late, I've been gravitating to cinestill 800T for night photography, but I'd like to try to figure out my style for landscape photography
I would love to shoot ektachrome 120 because I have shot it in 35mm and am now getting into 120 more. I love shooting everything Kodak but can’t always afford the professional grade films.
I’ve never shot ektachrome or any slide film really. But I’ve been very interested in shooting with ektachrome because from all the results I’ve seen from others I have a feeling it make some very unique and sharp portraits, specifically with models with darker complexions
I’ve never shot any slide film before. A project I’d love to embark on would be to shoot slide film on family vacations and be able to show them on a projector when we all get together. But first I need to shoot some and see how I like it haha
i been wanting to try this film so bad! i want to try it cuz living in hawaii i think the colors would be sick here. i’ll also be in cuba and new zealand over next two months so it be so cool to try this in those beautiful bright colorful locations. i usually use ektar and portra800. 🤙🏽
I’m usually a Portra400 man through and through but I really want to shoot Ektachrome just because of how exciting it is having a new film stock back on the market. I also love some photos that have been taken on it - not to mention the ones of Earth rise from the moon!!
I know it’s an Ektachrome video but thanks for including the Portra shots as well. Everyone talks about the limited dynamic range in positive film, but this really made the point well.
About a year ago I got me a few rolls of Ektachrome on 35mm. I shot them, sent them to the lab, they came back, and were ready for the trash bin... A year later I've stocked up: I have a middle format camera and finally a fully working light meter - not like the last time hahaha So, why not trying to give it a second chance, this time fully prepared.
I'm going on a trip to Sicily this summer. I've never shot any slide films but would love to take home some beautiful 6x7 slides as souvenirs; that being said my choices are provia 100f or ektachrome and I'll be needing to decide which before I go. It'd be great to get a few rolls of this film thru my camera before I go! I'm worried ektachrome might be a bit too cool (regarding color temperature) and in turn make my photos feel cold and not capture the warm character of the island. I feel provia may give me more natural color pallete and treat the softer, pastel like tones of the buildings and landscape better than ektachrome might... Anyone have a recommendation on which slide film to bring to Sicily? Ektachrome or provia 100f? (Also worth mentioning, I would like some portraits of relatives and wish to only bring one slide film so velvia is out of the picture)
Ektachrome was a film from before my time... I've never had a chance to try it, or in fact any of the old films which aren't in production today. I'd love to see what all the fuss is about!

Love shooting the old E100G in MF 6x9 - the slides look 🎞 ❤️😆! Can’t wait to try the new E100 in MF as well and compare! Looking forward to LF as well.
Ive only shot expired + heat damaged ektachrome. It did not look good. Would love to try some fresh stock though haha
I’ve never shot Ektachrome but I’ve always wanted to shoot a slide film hopefully I’ll have a chance to now
i haven´t shot ektachrome and i will love to try it with some landscape shot in mexico with in my lubitel 166 :D
Call me crazy, but I kind of liked the underexposed shots on Ektachrome
Slide film is usually projected. So it looks fabulous when you under expose it by 1/2 or 1 stop. As a result you get saturated image. I usually underexpose slide and overexpose the negatives
@@amoghpadhye6088 I haven't shot negative film at box speed in a while. They just look better overexposed. I've only shoot slide film once, tho
@@carlosa8262 Yeahh... Negatives have upto 5 stops of latitude... But you need to be spot on while exposing positive film... I always follow expose for shadows for negatives, and expose for highlights for positive/digital
I would love to shoot on a new roll of ektachrome, because i have a roll of 120 ektachrome that expired in 1998 and think it would be cool to compare images from the two
I've never shot it, but would love shoot the mountain lakes here in Utah with it!
The Unrecorded Passenger ohhhh. That would be fun!
I would love to shoot ektachrome 120 because I have shot it in 35mm and am now getting into 120 more. I love shooting everything Kodak but can’t always afford the professional grade films.
Michael Lovejoy they do get pricey!
I’d love to get my hand some ektachrome! Had my first experience with slide film shooting Provia recently and would love to shoot more slide
I usually shoot tri-x but I’m intrigued by the deep blues in this film stock.
i wanna try e100 on 35mm, just wont cash on 20$ for one roll here.
I like Ilford xp2 super, the last of the still in production c41 process bnw film
I’ve never shot ektachrome or any slide film really. But I’ve been very interested in shooting with ektachrome because from all the results I’ve seen from others I have a feeling it make some very unique and sharp portraits, specifically with models with darker complexions
I would love to have some ektachrome to be able to lay some 6x7 positives out on my light table and marvel at them!
I’ve never shot any slide film before. A project I’d love to embark on would be to shoot slide film on family vacations and be able to show them on a projector when we all get together. But first I need to shoot some and see how I like it haha
I just bought some expired e100g and I would really like to compare them 1 on 1.
i been wanting to try this film so bad! i want to try it cuz living in hawaii i think the colors would be sick here. i’ll also be in cuba and new zealand over next two months so it be so cool to try this in those beautiful bright colorful locations. i usually use ektar and portra800. 🤙🏽
I think my mountains here in Arizona will look great with ektachrome. Plus my city has one of the only labs in the state developing E6 film
I’ve never shot on film camera but shooting Ektachrome film I think would be a great start to shooting on film cameras
Glad to hear that. I think it’s mainly the shadows that lose the detail fast with the slide film but Portra has a crazy dynamic range.
About a year ago I got me a few rolls of Ektachrome on 35mm. I shot them, sent them to the lab, they came back, and were ready for the trash bin... A year later I've stocked up: I have a middle format camera and finally a fully working light meter - not like the last time hahaha
So, why not trying to give it a second chance, this time fully prepared.
Cedey light meters are key! Especially when they are fully functional
Want to try it, because i saw a lot of pics from e100 and mostly it was not so good result and I want to shoot a roll better than pics i saw)
Is a.great film try it.
I'm interested how ektachrome would look at night with long exposures, love the photos 👍
100asa would be too slow for dark skies, dawn dusk ok though.
