So strange, Dr Joe is immortalized and it's a privilege to virtually fly with him. Thanks for hosting this video please dont let it ever go.

The most enjoyable part of my career was when I was flying the OV1. It was like a throwback to a WWII fighter and it got a lot of attention when I landed at an air force or a navy facility.

Yep, another amazing video from Dr. Joe, I am really still upset that 958 took him into the ground. I know, he was flying. I had time in 958 when she was a Super C and later when she was converted to a D model. I do mis my OV-1 days.

With all due respect, and R.I.P, but who is Dr. Joe? What's a 958 / Super C ?

@@Trev0r98 Dr. Joe was Dr. Joseph Masessa who was a dermatologist and pilot who had a passion for aviation and a deep respect for missing POW's, especially those in the Vietnam war. Masessa was one of the few civilians in the entire world who flew an ex-military OV-1 Mohawk Ground attack and reconnaissance airplane. Dr. Masessa honored these missing solders by having their names painted on his aircraft in remembrance. Dr. Masessa was also highly patriotic and loved his Country. Masessa had many hours flying his Mohawk and had been doing airshow circuits with the aircraft for several years and loved showing his aircraft to the public. He stated in posted videos that he had been trained by an actual ex-Mowhawk pilot. The OV-1 Mohawk had several variants which corresponded with that particular model letter designator....i.e. "OV-1A" "OV-1B" 'C" "D", etc. The official NTSB report stated the likely cause of the crash was improper recovery from a aerobatic maneuver. Sadly the aircraft struck the ground in a near vertical dive at very high speed and exploded on impact. The crash was not survivable. The military model of the OV-1 was equipped with ejection seats for it's pilot and electronic warfare officer/co-pilot, however when the aircraft are civilianized and sold, the ejection seats are removed. Most ejection seats are limited to active military aircraft only.

@@Trev0r98yes. With respect, what happened to this guy? I loved watching this video. Looks like a good pilot. I am here after seeing the retro tv show(I saw as a child) called "Blue Thunder". In that first season, episode 1, there was and bad guy flying a Mohawk that attempted to kill
The Blue Thunder helicopter guys. I thought the plane was beautiful and that's why I'm watching this.

Genuinely. It makes me wonder if that’s what got him in the end. FOD jamming up flight controls.

@@jfflyboyThanks; just something I noticed. Hard to forget one’s training. I had it drummed into my head to maintain a “clean” cockpit.
