- Netflix's latest romantic comedy is putting a twist on the classic high school love story! Access Hollywood chatted with "The Half of It" stars Leah Lewis, Alexxis Lemire and Daniel Diemer via Zoom about the film and its emotional message. "Of course, the story itself was just beautiful," Alexxis said. "I mean, I read the script and cried." Daniel added, "It was a script that just felt so full of heart and really, really genuine and grounded and down-to-earth." In addition to gushing over director Alice Wu, the trio also revealed their boldest gestures in the name of love! "The Half of It" hits Netflix on May 1.

ellie and paul had the sweetest friendship and his character development made me so so happy :’)
aster and ellie were so freaking cute and i so want a sequel to see what happens when ellie comes back from college!
anyways, all in all, this movie has amazing representation and i love it so much.

i absolutely adored the friendship between paul and ellie. paul really redeemed himself in the church scene and he showed how good of a friend he is to ellie. when paul ran after ellie's train it was the end of me.
The train scene totally wrecked me too! I KNEW he would do it because Ellie had said there was no point running after a train, it basically set that scene up for him running after the train to show her that running after a train isn't to try to outrun it, but to show the person in it just how much you care about them.
Damn, Leah is so articulate and wise. I could listen to her talk all day!

Yes and the shop scene was an easter egg to the date between the two main characters from that movie. Alice Wu, I am forever a fan of her work and I want Netflix to give her a deal so she can create more to a mainstream audience. We need more representation!!

All these actors made me have a crush mainly the dude but also a lil with the girls. Ok so by half of the movie I was seeing Paul's feelings for Ellie and knew it was not gonna work but me being a romantic rooted for him. Great actor. The mc was like a book nerd I understood the story but not the references though, which made me look up the books cause i get curious, such a great movie and ending.
Hopefully there's a sequel coming soon..i want to watch this again..😄😍

Oh, my I admire them all, as I love the character they are in the movie.
You'll find them so articulate,honest and fresh at their own perspective on things..great they are brilliant being. They really know what they want. The movie, it makes you equally feel that a romantic love and platonic love is too different thing but there is no less important from any other. That it's both powerful on it's own side,the friendship and romantic feeling..it's all love anyway.

My favorite scene probably has to be the painting scene because Aster told Elle that she quit painting, but in this scene we really get to see the bold strokes that both of them make. Through this beautiful painting, we get to see their own mindset and emotions put together and how well the complete and understand each other.

i saw like 3 forms of harrassment in this movie, why was everyone kissing each other out of nowhere?? not happy about it.
