Of the prefab houses you’ve featured over the past couple of years, I think I like this one the best. Good combination of high percentage pre-built, speed of installation, ease of site prep, and functional design.
Magnetoclash, two cranes? Are you out of your mind? It's fine they try it out. But you can't call a superior design one that is constrained by having two giant pieces of equipment on site. If they figure out how to install with just a backhoe, which are common, I would call it good. But right now they are 100 percent constrained by having super expensive machines on site.
@@sasquatchrosefarts Good point. Ya, obviously a truck/trailer and backhoe would be much cheaper. But wasn’t this particular site uniquely challenging due existing structures and location relative to road? I’d need to watch it again, but I thought they made that point. perhaps on an easier site, wouldn’t need two huge cranes? Also, still gotta be easier/faster, even with cranes, then traditional site-built house?
I loved the juxtaposition between the very old home and the modern ADU. The use of natural cladding harmonises the two, as well as relatable shapes. I've always loved origami- love the folding geometry of the engineering!
I have been working on marketing a foldable house for the past five years. The house in the video is a creative and thoughtful design and should be three times larger.
So cool! I love modern design innovation. I could imagine this technology used to build single level homes too. I could see this design technique in almost any environment, would love to see something like this in a desert setting.
Portable House designed for rapid post disaster house for the displaced people in need of living space. Takes 2 weeks to install on a lot even small uneven plots that can accommodate large crane to lift into place and unfold the home. It is factory built so all plumbing, electrical, and other supply pipes are in place once unfolded and connected to power, water, light you are nearly home, ready for furniture then people. Terrific design for 1 house on 1 piece of land but you can move the entire house at any time to any place. Green house does not sit directly on the ground which allows home owners lots of options for placement. I adore this amazing design, house, and the portability post installation. Thanks 🙏 for this and all the other innovative homes you have shown us over the years.
I wish I could have this "T" style house in Omaha, Nebraska, USA. Or in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Beautiful folding houses. Btw, that Italian "old" house with the new addition is also so beautiful. You guys are so lucky to have the opportunity to travel all over the world. I know it's not as easy as you make it appear. I also love your own home. Great remodel done...with wonderful and fantastic views. I started watching your videos since your kids were little children, in the pop up tent van. I truly appreciate and enjoy your videos. Take care and stay safe. Thank you so very much!! Que Dios los cuide y bendiga. 🇺🇸🇲🇽🙏🏻👼🏻😷
I would really like these to be available in America (US, Canada, Mexico) I'd go with two module+balcony, a covered greenhouse space, then another balcony+three house modules. The inbetween space would be a small pond/ greenhouse/ atrium entrance.
You are so right! Usually the price is so much maxed out that it is hardly revolutionary anymore compared to traditional build practice. Basicly you pay for the time advantage
Hi Kirsten, another interesting video and concept. I'm curious, is it a conscious decision on your part to not ask how much things cost to build? Over the years you have filmed numerous videos of people either renovating or newly constructing homes, but there's never been a discussion about costs. Curious if there is a reason why. In this day and age there are so many renovations shows where the viewer not only gets to watch the process of the renovation, but also know what the costs involved are.
Probably because costs always change. Price can come up and down drastically based on materials used. Also companies can go out of business or invent new cost saving measures in the time between when the video is produced and when the viewer sees it. Notice how even the oldest videos still get a stream of comments and views?
@@esthermerriken4408 my thoughts exactly, it’s more important to focus on the concepts because anyone watching can be inspired to follow the design but perhaps adopt some things but improve others.
Interesting. Nice video. Several questions come to mind. Firstly, this was designed for people left homeless by earthquake. How does this structure itself hold up to seismic or wind challenges? Second, how long is life expectancy? It is built right next to 100+ yr old homes. Will it be there in 100 yrs? Thirdly, what is R value of its overall insulation? Fourthly, can it be built single level with no stairs? When will they come to USA?
@@worldchangingvideos6253 Ha well nice black humor. I take it that means they are pretty to look at but basically ticky tacky quality not really a LT housing option.
I saw the video a few years ago when they just had the A frame house. And I was pleased to see I was close enough to the factory to get free delivery. I’m stuck in the UK at the moment but I’ll be back in Italy very soon. Back to the Adriatic coast 🇮🇹😍 and my lovely Italian neighbours
This looks like a modern and improved take on the quonset house design. Very clever. I would like to see a strip of glazing between two of the modules to introduce more light to the interior for that particular 'cabin' model (without the glazed front).
Love it! 🇮🇹 How small can it be? I like the balcony - it would be nice to have folding or sliding windows that open completely in the summer and can be closed in the winter - so the balcony can be used all year round. I think I would prefer to add those afterwards though, to keep the price down. Where do we get one?! How much etc.
Model T Model A are ya sure we're not talkin' cars here! 😅😉 Makes a Nice clean little house I like the idea of being able to fold the house up and move it wherever I want to 👍
A beautiful home. The internal plumbing and wiring is fantastic. I assume that the rain water can be harvested for drinking, yes? U am curious if the roof could be pre-installed with solar panels. This would increase the functionality for a disaster area with no power or water.
I love this concept! Your Vlogs Kirsten always impress me! They give me more insight for my proposed Humanitarian Housing Project for Homeless Veterans and Seniors in the US. Thank You.
Looks good but expensive and lack of windows, means using power a lot more than I'd like, especialy as power is rising through the roof, cost wise in the UK. Cheers Kirsten.
Good point, it could definitely use more windows. Though from what I can tell, the sides are wood and other fairly soft materials, so it wouldn't be that hard to cut holes for some windows.
That's a lot of house sor a portable! Incredible! I like the small ones. I have lived in a van, I don't need, nor do I want very much space. Amazing though!
Amazing. I'm a subscriber and so happy to have found your channel. I'm making long range plans for New Brunswick and will count your channel as a starting place.
This is an interesting concept and it would be great if this video had been longer. Many questions remain unanswered and were not asked. Do they have options to integrate eg. solar panels on the roof surfaces, how is it connected to water and power, how do they actually manage to make it earthquake-proof? What preparations are required before installing it, what kind of freedom does the customer have to make adjustments on the inside...
Interesting concept, and probably a model for the future . . . except that, for me at least, it is much too dark for me inside. There may be models with more windows. New ideas!

That's not tornado proof. I build timber frame custom log homes. The logs are bolted to each other and to the concrete slab. That's tornado proof. I've seen one of our homes, directly hit by a F4 in Kansas. And most of it was still there. Just the roof had damage. But it held.

Sometime it's because the cost is so INSANELY high they are AFRAID to tell us. The price is not even on their website.
