After watching this channel for a while, I finally bought a plot of land next to a lake in Montana. Tiny home construction starts in Summer 2022. Thanks for the inspiration!
I own a piece of land with a similar view, I wish I could build something like this. But the problem is that I live in a shitty country and the house would get vandalized if I leave it unattended for even a short period of time.
This house gave me ideas for our kitchen. We have a counter and drawer space problem. One of many problems was the area for our pots and pans we needed to practically crawl under the counter to get at anything. So I got creative. The main thing we adopted, which I was proud of, is our cabinet for our pots, pans and gadgets…a 72Wx18H’ garage tool cabinet almond color with double doors and four movable shelves now sits in our kitchen. Makes everything so much easier to get at, keep clean and find. I realized after watching this there really don’t have to be set rules for things…in fact it’s stupid to keep doing something if it doesn’t work. So be creative. Thank you Rosie!
When the stars align and you get to build a spectacular container home, live off the grid, and do it all in a nature reserve. Who gets to do that??? How fantastic.
Almost no one gets to do that, its nice for her but tiny living is a very priviliged concept and it is only a very individualistic approach to the housing crisis we are facing.

I've been following this channel for a year and today I found out that in my country there is a company building container houses for an amazingly cheap prices, 40 sq meter house for 7k euros, now I'm saving money to buy one of my own.
Remember, shipping container homes are incredibly hard to insulate properly. Im not sure this house, in this humid climate, will survive more than 10 years
@@gibson1005 Properly sealed and painted, with regular maintenance, they should last several decades. Thermal insulation, in cooler climates, however, should indeed be a problem. Metal in general is an excellent thermal conductor - exactly the opposite of what you need in walls, in thermally more extreme climates.
Its your Personal taste, not for everyone, so as the LA homes you Hate soo much, what matters are the Home Owners loving their Homes wherever they call it Home. And you're Comparing a Minimalist Home vs Extreme Homes. Nice Comparison "A Therapist home vs Millionaires and Billionaires Homes, lol
@@capitanothegreat3994 Lol. LA Homes are overpriced garbage, and many of them even look ugly compared than the average minimalist tiny home. @@kathycavitt3089 Where she lives the only thing she needs to be on a look out for is wasps, bees, mosquitos, spiders, and human's main predator, another predatory human.
...SO why is no one giving us free land...I mean...if I had family connections, money, and daddy's purse strings...I would be living the dream too, right?
The dark exterior will make it very hot which if fine for the winter . In fact , by covering part of the exterior with a frame with class or plexiglass you can run interior air through it as a solar thermal heating system with a low amp fan . It works, because I have one that puts out 180 degree heat in 10 degree winter days.
And I do love the black, the home disappears into the jungle until you open those amazing doors, then BAM...color...love the kitchen, love the bathroom, the deck, the orange...and what a dream come true...silence and belonging...!
Ok - this is my favourite one. Love the shape. the entertainment room convertible into a guest room. the floor-to-ceiling library! and the main living area is super nice as well
I think this is the first tiny home I've seen that made me go 'that's exactly what I want!' With a few minor tweaks - I wouldn't need such a big kitchen. The tool chests for kitchen cabinets is nothing short of genius, though! And those views. I swear that the only reason anyone really goes tiny is to find somewhere they can look out on really beautiful scenery every day.
@Chiamano She said 60 sqm of living space, that's about 645 sqft, not 2,500. Not really tiny, but still small, and what she's managed to do with that space is impressive.
@@_asphobelle6887 Including the mud room, five 20-foot containers is 800 square feet. Which is what I have to build in most Southern California communities. San Bernardino County now allows 150 SQUARE FEET! So I could do one 40-foot container. 800 square feet is reasonable though.
The fact that she as a married woman still kept space for herself to have her dream home exactly as she wanted it is amazing to see! Such a great example I will be showing my daughter
@ThePotatoMouse exactly! Everyone deserves their own safe space. Married couples deserve this too! I assume the husband also has his own version of what is often called a "man cave" in whatever form best fits him. This breaths fresh life into the marriage. Its such a loving gesture
Thanks... yes my husband and I are both introverted so like heaps of time to ourselves. I love spending most weekends walking outside in the bush, clearing and resetting predator traps . My husband is a huge gamer so loves to spend most weekends on his computer/Playstation etc so its the best of both worlds. We both get time to ourselves and have things to talk about when we see each other at the end of the weekend.
The tool cabinets as shelves is super clever. It's common for drawers of those be able to hold tons of weight (50kg), drawers can typically extend all the way out for easy access to the back of drawers, and the cabinets aren't too expensive. Definitely took some notes on this idea.
I repeatedly exclaimed, "oh my god" every time the views were shown. And THAT night sky. Holy s#%*^! Amazing, it's a shame that noone lives in it during the week.
I love that they've bucked the trend and decided to build with multiple containers. The result seems to me to be a more liveable long-term space, and one that could reasonably accommodate any guests for short stays. It would therefore be a better place to socialize in, and to shelter in when the weather turns nasty. Lovely.
You'd be surprised at what you can accomplish if you set your mind to it. 20 years ago I was sleeping on a cot in my mother's basement, bankrupt from a one sided divorce. (I'm a man) But, I never lost sight of my dreams. Today I live in my dream house backing on to a forest. No, I didn't do it all on my own. I did it with the help of a wonderful woman-- don't give up on people; don't give up on yourself.
Rosies home is absolutely stunning and with a real library which i haven't seen in tiny homes.the location is a veritable paradise,so beautiful and serene
I don't think the "tiny house powers that be" have ever defined the exact measurements of a tiny house but I would think this falls into small house territory. There are, what? Five containers at 5x20 which is 500 sq ft.
What the hell?! You sound hella bitter. I hope you deal with your issues. Find yourself a good therapist, they are worth the investment. Also take responsibility for who you allow in your life as well. It sounds like you had someone rip you off. But guess who allowed a gold digger to scavage their pockets??? It's your responsibility to pick and chose who belongs in your life. All women are'nt bad just like all men are'nt either. So good luck to you.
This home is stunning. It ticks all the boxes for me: Industrial feels, off-grid, a ton of natural light to come in, wonderful deck and even more wonderful scenery 24/7.
This is by FAR the best house you've shown yet. The shipping container setup alone would be good anywhere, but that view, entirely off-grid, incidental clothes and kindling drier, and the nature conservation aspect are all so great. Then the library and the telescopes. Absolutely epic. Wow!
OMG!!! Would you like to adopt a grandmother? I’m 71 and it is so breathe taking every where you look! I would probably have my mouth open in awe all of the time! A piece of heaven!🥰💕
I love how she fully embraced the things she loves and built her home accordingly! Great color, location and scheme! Simply lovely. Nice wrap up Bryce!
As an OT am proud of you for Rosie for what you have achieved, and for using your OT knowledge in designing an accessible bathroom to help you become functionally independent in your old age
Shipping container is a stretch, I'd call it an industrial themed home with corrugated siding. Shipping container living at this comfort level is neither cheap or virtuous from a building standpoint since the shipping container is an ever present and limiting obstacle that has to be worked around. From a construction standpoint, when you really study images of finished well appointed container homes like this, you'll see what it took to pull it off and the answer is a lot of engineering costs, structural upgrades and cash. Did you notice that the kitchen is double deep so there's entire walls missing in two containers which required structural upgrades for one example. I don't dislike these homes, I just don't like the false virtuousness that people believe that don't understand the reality of construction involved.
You don’t have to be rich to live like this if you know how to manger your money right……..I have been thinking about buying me acres of land and living like this when I retire

Can we please talk about the level of Doctor Who fandom? Rosie, we might be best friends in another life. I love the design of the house and the amount of space given to the library. This is 100% my favorite container home so far.

This is such a beautiful home. It inspired me with a multitude of ideas to add to it. The painting inside, her daughter created, with Wash's (from the syfy tv series Firefly) phrase, made me remember the story of that episode & cry but love that she had added it to her mom's home. I immediately sent this video to my daughter.
I feel like I’m seeing my future self! The way the home is laid out, your library, types of books, & interests are all things that I love! Beautiful home! 😊
The Firefly/Serenity reference at 13:42 has made me decided this is the best home you have seen this year Bryce. Thank you so much for not only showing these home, but the people that make it a home and not a house. Wonderful video and Rosie deserve every little bit of her piece of heaven, she's a lovely person.

What an absolute dream! I'm living in the hustle and bustle of Auckland. City life is crazy, busy and expensive. All work no play!!! I yearn every day for that "Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!" (Sigh* look out in nature from my deck) moment! Another amazing episode!!!
NZD to Euro = 0,59, to USD = 0.72 So NZD 450k = €267k = $325k Considering it is build in a nature reserve, plus containers transport and craftsmen who had to work remotely, i think its a reasonable price
The library 🤩 The telescopes, the panoramic living room, bedroom and deck. What a dream house!!! My favorite one hands down, this house is my life's inspiration..
One of my top considerations for my OTG cabin is where I am going to put our books. This is the first shipping container home that I remember seeing someone with a similar sized library to mine. Surrounded by nature and knowledge is my idea of heaven. Her home is fantastic, especially the library!
Awww Rosie’s a Dr.Who fan😍 I saw the Police Box teapot and then all the comics. It makes me smile, my father was a designer on Dr.Who in the ‘60’s. Her home is beautiful and a real reflection of her character.
Whoa! That "5× 20" in the title had me expecting a SINGLE container at 5 ft by 20 ft! Rosie, the generous supply of books and your large centered deck are unusual for a tiny --- but, must be so nice to enjoy. She chose a pleasant, spacious looking layout. For me, those vibrant tones on some walls and doors are good mood boosters. Love it all.
Wait a minute: was that a Tardis teapot? Even if the home and view weren't spectacular, which of course they totally are, I just gotta love the Doctor Who ambiance!
I love the shipping container house and I love what she has done to it. And I realize house prices in Auckland must be very high because she is not upset about $450,000. Holy cow!
Could you please do a playlist of tiny-house owners based on their region, like Us, Europe, Australia, New Zealand. It will be very handy to those, who want to get their own tiny house
I am so happy someone else has done the tool chests for kitchen cabinets. I can't tell you how many people have told me I'm nuts. This is such a beautiful home and the land is gorgeous.
I love that idea more than darn near any other storage idea I've seen in tiny home content, and I've seen many, haha. Plus used tool chests are decently easy to come by cheaply and can be cleaned up easily enough, especially since nothing in my life has ever been or will ever be pristine and polished anyway haha. Absolutely adopting this idea for sure, love it!
What an incredible and beautiful home with a spectacular view outside. This looks very cozy and private, I can imagine living in a house like this for years.
This marvelous lady has put so much love in her house that it actually feels like a "home" in comparison to those marbles and rocks people invest in making villas just end up giving a commercialized feeling. I absolutely loved this.
Now these are my kind of digs. Love this! I have a lot of books, but I'd ditch them for my Kindle now, and use that library space as the TV room/observatory. LOVE the bathroom. LOVE the bedroom and that kitchen is to die for!
LITTLE!!?? You said its "little" twice.. It's far from little, although technically it is "Tiny Home", with just the custom 1 bedroom, (it's much more than just a House), BUT on it's scale this takes Shipping Container Conversions to a whole new level - it doesn't have "little" rooms or little living spaces, where have you ever seen a floor to ceiling Library in any 'Little' home or in any Tiny House ? - and the Kitchen is Epic!!! It's the BIGGEST kitchen I've ever seen in any shipping container conversion!! It appears that it's used the full length of a 20 footer JUST for the Kitchen - it's got a GRAND effect that combines beautifully with simplicity of using Industrial Bunnings Tool cabinets for the cabinetry, without losing the aesthetics. Some of these Industrial designs can be 'colder', when pure functionality in industrial design can cost some of the luxurious and more beautiful design elements. She has made the environment and the location a focal point, with so many windows and drawing in natural light and panoramic views from all rooms, no matter which way you are facing, The Furniture facing the walls (for the spectacular Ancient Forest views. By the sheer number of windows, and by turning the furniture around to face the views, at first glance it's a surprising effect of the furniture not positioned against the walls, but facing the walls, she has made the sunlight throughout the day her focus framed by the rare and precious Forest -what a unique and incredible slice of Natural Beauty!! I don't think I would want to leave home if this was mine! This is an absolutely gorgeous Grand result for someone who hasn't done anything like this before!! The whole home has an amazing sense of peace, with a personality of its own with the vibrant splash of colour, and a sense of wholeness within, - it doesn't have the often narrow rooms in other shipping container conversions. With this one, there's not the confined limits on the size of each space, with the narrow width of the containers, which when the furniture or the beds are squeezed into the spaces, it looks smaller, appearing even more narrow when furniture or beds are squeezed in between the container walls, exaggerated with the longer length. I've seen many of thousands of these Tiny Homes conversions by DIY'ers which truly look tiny, an achievement for the owners to pare back their House full of "things & Stuff" to become minimalists by necessity with (sometimes) clearly compromised spaces trading dual purpose or multi-functionality of functionality required for the spaciousness internally to be able to cut costs, both building costs and material costs, in the construction phase, to have the major advantages -If the Tiny Home was built to be Off-grid equipped, of being able cut utility costs, heating and cooling costs, to nil or cut to being very small.. To be able to move these Shipping Container Conversions around, should the need arise, or the desire for travel squeezed in to usually leave the container walls and doors intact, with a shoehorn effect of a shoe-box shaped home also losing quite a chunk of space within each room, by the passageway required to move between each space, this creates limited living with the remaining space (in other Shipping Container Conversions built to be easily transported on the back of a truck, (if you can afford the crane at both ends of the origin & destination). This Home of Rosie's has an effect of being firmly rooted into its surroundings.. It doesn't have the compromised spaciousness internally that many Tiny Houses have as a trade off for low-cost builds, and for low utility costs for the functionality of modern living with all the luxury we have gotten accustomed to. Nothing has been lost in the internal living spaces, and it has a unique perspective of the grand effect of the space inside, especially in the kitchen and the library, facing the natural beauty which is being amplified by the perspective simply by facing the furniture and the bed towards the views in this Wonderland.. The natural light within I can picture the glow Rosie spoke of from Sunrise in the kitchen making the orange "glow" inside the kitchen and looking out onto the forest floor to ceiling views framed by the doors looking out onto the deck and into the Forest and the sky all the way to the horizon.. The night views of the Stars from all these framed windows like changing living Artscape that is such a rare unspoiled oasis on this planet.. Using insulation and double glazing so wisely has given Rosie and her partner the ability to put in so many windows without the heating and cooling costs soaring.. This is an awe-inspiring result for a beginner, such a majestic setting of Mother Nature in all her glory. What an incredible location, using and reusing materials fittings and fixtures just adds to the unique appeal - Truly one of a kind, home and a rare gem of a location... I don't think I would want to leave, Rosie, if only you could work remotely from home in another or similarly adjacent field. But I suppose it wouldn't be as much of a luxurious retreat if you lived there full-time, you may become a hermit in this paradise!! Well done indeed, a Spectacular Achievement, I love you have collected things you've kept (horded) from op shops. She has created a feature from every room, ..a breathtaking view of not just the Forest, but the natural light is part of the interior design, it enhances this oasis on a grand scale.. I can imagine how much the colours will dance on the walls inside during sunrise and sunset and how the night sky and the stars without light pollution out there - None of the creature comforts have been compromised here, to wake up each morning from this Huge King-size bed facing the views from 3 sides, and falling asleep to the sparkle of the stars... Ahhhh the Serenity!! What a wonderful space nestled in and around a stunning place!! From first light at sunrise until the moon rises in the night sky, I can imagine would be a kaleidoscope of living Colours through all those gorgeous windows! This is my dream house now!! I would love to see more photos of Sunrise and Sunset and of the Stars at night. What is the name of this Forest ? - Are you allowed to rent it out like an Airbnb when you aren't using it? To pay off your mortgage, while sharing the place with highly rated guests who respect your sanctuary and leave no trace.. I would love to see it for myself to just have a private tour..
It's amazing place for vacation and relaxation, everyone is getting tired on a City, this is the perfect way to live a life, ... and the book library inspire us for many things..

Its old trailer made trending.

You don't need ridiculous amounts of money just to live a simple life. A lot of people who live in tiny homes are also wealthy, but many are too content and happy with their own lives, so they don't care about some oversized mansion on a hill somewhere, nor would want to live in one.

I'm obsessed with this. This is exactly how I would want a shipping container home, down to the colors! The orange is PERFECT!!!!
Agree
I agree as well. Pretty well thought out and totally beautiful
This is by far one of the most beautiful off-the-grid houses I have ever seen. The location, the design, the whole idea. Truly fabulous!
Agreed!👍 Details... top notch! ✌️
And I do love the black, the home disappears into the jungle until you open those amazing doors, then BAM...color...love the kitchen, love the bathroom, the deck, the orange...and what a dream come true...silence and belonging...!
orange is supposed to stimulate the appetite, very fitting for a kitchen.

@@_asphobelle6887 but it is not a tiny house. 95% of people call that a normal size house. It is huge for one person only.
@ThePotatoMouse
@ThePotatoMouse exactly! Everyone deserves their own safe space. Married couples deserve this too! I assume the husband also has his own version of what is often called a "man cave" in whatever form best fits him. This breaths fresh life into the marriage. Its such a loving gesture
@@clarissag4454 ..Listen to the word closely..Why the man space is considered a ""Cave""?.😶.

Thanks... yes my husband and I are both introverted so like heaps of time to ourselves.
I've seen tons of tiny homes over the years, and this is definitely my favorite
thats what i tell after watching every tiny home videos. They are all impressive
you aint see nothin christian
the view is just absolutely STUNNING!!!
Lovely.
When my husband and I talk about going tiny, this floor plan is pretty much what we've talked about. It feels social and spacious.
Shipping containers do extremely well in inclement weather too 👍
Using toolboxes for the kitchen cabinetry? That's GENIUS!
If thats genius then u r dumb 😢

Shipping container homes are always just SO cool.
Yep no need for inflation of lumber what a joke
Never ever thought I would be jealous of someone living in a shipping container! The house is fantastic but the view is beyond fantastic!
I couldn't imagine having a house like that and not being able to stay full time. I'd cry every time I had to leave.

Truly fantastic little home and a thought provoking idea for a stunning little slice of freedom.
The nature, and the books, I am so jealous.
It's amazing place for vacation and relaxation, everyone is getting tired on a City, this is the perfect way to live a life, ... and the book library inspire us for many things..
Gorgeous tiny home in a breathtakingly beautiful forest preserve.
This home is gorgeous! So much the owner and what she likes and her thoughts out into the home. The decor isn’t my taste but I can still appreciate it tremendously! Thanks for sharing your home with us!
