I have to respectfully disagree with the comment about changing the man. Individuals need to be respected for who they are. I'm sure this woman would not like it if the man said he would try to change and mold her.
I agree to some extent. However what I gather from what she was saying is that, when you meet someone, they get to know you and vice versa. They will learn what you like, the behaviors and nuances that are particular to you and because they know these things about you, they will hopefully operate accordingly.
What the young lady wanted, was someone ready made, customized to her from the get go.
I think, and I can be wrong now, that the matchmaker was trying to get her to be a little bit more open minded and help her understand that she knows what she wants, however it may take some “ breaking in” to get it and she has to be open to the process.
If you watch the original documentary, you will see that her feminist history came out and was a deal breaker by prospective suitors. The point you make is correct that in going into a marriage thinking that you can bend someone to your ideological idea of a utopian man is why men leave and shrill women become more bitter. There's an old proverb that says that it's better to live on the corner of a roof than with a contentious woman.
@@nickayduncan7796 I caught the original documentary and your point of view is correct. Remember, though, that she's "devout" but she's also progressive in some ways. She will have to give and compromise which is anathema to many women in this day and age.
I know a woman who is now seeing how miserable she has made her family and has a lot of damage to repair.
The more I see of her, the more I like her.

She is a woman with great background and interesting life. Now she is in Israel, far away from home.
In any other country in Europe or USA she could marry hundreds of men, I guess. Perfect age, nice personality, pretty but not too beautiful.
Too much beauty scares away a lot of guys.
I think the matchmaker is very good at her job and if any person in Israel can help it is her.
Israel is a tiny country with just 9 million people.
They live in very private communities, very traditionel lifes. Women and men equally do military duties. They only marry when their parents allow it.
For her it is really hard to find a husband as she came alone. Nobody knows her family.
She didn't grow up with religion, she spent 18 years of her life in Berlin without religion.
The religious people in Israel are interested in her parents religion and her grandparents religion.
Just practicing for 10 years like her is no time in their opinion.
As the matchmaker said, she got a very perfect match in her imagination.
Maybe we'll see a new film. Hope she can find a soul partner and a happy loving marriage.

I know youtube isn’t a dating site, but I assume a lot of single people are watching this video. So I’ll just throw this out here… If this description matches you, I hope you reply and we can try to find a way to chat further. I wish I could meet a smart girl/woman, in her 20s, who wants to start a family and is mentally and emotionally mature to do that. Preferably, she wouldn’t be too religious but would be moral (honest/trustworthy/kind), and it would be a plus if she celebrates the Jewish holidays despite being secular. Having a career or professional skill would be a big plus but not strictly required (I make enough income to be a sole provider if necessary). Being decently healthy is important (obesity is unhealthy), but physical appearance isn’t the highest priority. I would prefer someone who seems genuine over a vain type of girl.
By the way, I am an American.

she (28 yo) is suggested someone 34 and up.., easily could be 44, for example. And 16 year difference is a father/daughter relationship. My point is this suggestion is absurd. She is a young, educated, interesting girl, after all She didn’t mention her desire to be with someone who easily could be her father. The matchmaker is obviously out of candidates and since this is her source of income, she “suggests” those who potentially can match her available candidates.
I think another reason she was suggested older men or already divorced ones is because all the youngers ones that devout religious are either already married or unfortunatly do not consider a woman of her age (I know ridiculous) suitable. I have read and seen in documantries such as " love and marriage in orthodox jewish communities" that they tend to get married around 20 years.
She wants too much, so she'll end up with nothing. Sad
