  • Just after 5:30 a.m. this morning Kevin Golden, 40, a resident of Roman Forest was heading eastbound on SH 105 just past Old 105. It was raining heavy at the time. As he came down the overpass his truck went into the westbound lanes and into the path of a family of four,
    Jennifer Clouse, 27, of Cleveland was driving the families 2000 Volkswagen Jetta taking her husband Nathan to work in Conroe. Riding in the back seat with them was their son Jorden, age 6 and their daughter Bailey, age 8.
    The Jetta slammed into the passenger door of the 2003 Dodge Ram pickup flipping it upside down, The engine was thrown from the truck.
    Another driver who was westbound on 105 did not see the engine in the rain and the dark and slammed into it driving the engine further down the road. His vehicle was heavily damaged but he was not injured. Another vehicle then slammed into one of the wheels that had broken off the pickup. Seconds later another, what was described as a Dodge pickup slammed into the engine. That driver got out of the vehicle, inspected the damage on his truck and without regard to the people involved in the crash , got in his vehicle and left the scene.
    When MCHD arrived on the scene the entire Clouse family in the vehicle were deceased. Golden who was trapped was cut out by Cut and Shoot and Splendora Firefighters. Due to weather conditions a Medical Helicopter was unavailable and Golden was transported in critical condition to Hermann Hospital in Houston.
    SH 105 was closed until almost 1 p.m. for the investigation of the crash. Montgomery County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace James Metts said in his ten years of service to East Montgomery County, this was by far the worst he had seen and the most fatalities in a single event. Judge Metts ordered McNutt Funeral Directors to transport the victims to the Montgomery County Forensic Center.
    As DPS Troopers from Montgomery County investigated the crash scene with the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office Vehicular Crimes Unit. A Houston DPS Trooper along with Assistant District Attorney Waren Diepraam were at Hermann Hospital to interview Golden.
    DPS does not believe alcohol was a factor in this crash but the weather did play a part.
    During the initial stages of the crash many vehicles went around the scene and continued on. DPS would like to talk to any of those drivers who may have seen something.

      The one being broadsided generally sustains the most damage and fatalities. Size and height tilted the scale here.

      davejase ...lots of damage but dodge is one of the easiest trucks to yank s motor/trans/radiator/diff...etc from.that Jetta slammed into that bitch going full speed and it flipped at least 1 1/2 times. Bent treat wheel shows that.
      RIP to the Clouse family, together in life, together in heaven.

    This is my wifes ex boyfriends family. She told me about this incident as they were right down the road themselves, when this happened. So sad to see it. Hwy 105 is a dangerous road. This stretch coming out of Cleveland Tx. into Old Security, Tx is particularly dangerous. I've been driving up and down it my whole life. This is one of those places that gives me an anxious feeling, everytime I'm on that stretch of road. I pray for this family and their loved ones.

    When I was a kid growing up in a small town in WA State, I remember a family of 6 kids, from 18 to 10 years, all in one car driving to school on a winter's morning. The car hit black ice on a bend and head-on'd into a Mack truck hauling gravel. All 6 children - every child in the family - perished. @@miriamsamaniego3335 respectfully disagree…speed most certainly was a factor. The speed limits are set to enable safe traveling good conditions, not all conditions. When weather, road surface conditions or visibility dictate, drivers are obliged to adjust vehicle speeds to enable safe operation. Depending upon local or state laws drivers could be cited for unsafe operation by driving too fast for road conditions. Driving too fast in heavy rain could make hydroplaning a real threat.

      I hope you aren't paralyzed from breaking your neck. Did your son and daughter survive their accident? Rain slick roads are particularly dangerous. I always slow down when it rains and keep those windshield wipers going.
      I had a scary experience in heavy rain when the windshield wiper on my driver's side broke away, and I had to keep looking through the passenger window to see anything. I was on the freeway, and it was very awkward. I managed to get home okay, but it was dicey. I couldn't see anything out of my driver's side window.

    I came up on a accident south of Houston Tx Near Lake Jackson Tx on 288 south. Two brothers in a 88 Toyota Celica had something happen to cause them to vere into the median and come back across the road and leave the highway and rolled several times landing in a ravine/ditch on its roof and in some trees. 100ft from the edge of the highway shoulder. The vehicle traveled 400ft total from where it went into the median and to where it stopped. The Driver was trying to stop people for help . I was the only one first then a oil rig crew in a company van traveling to the Freeport stopped next to my tractor trailer and called it in there phone. The passenger the young man's brother was pinned and crushed under the car. And was deceased and no pulse or response. And cold to the touch. What was so sad about it all was his brother was in shock and hysterical about not finding his brother. He didn't know he was dead and I and the other men had to keep him from the car and seeing what was left of his brother. Im a former first responder and that's what you have to do in a situation like this. The EMTs get there and I break the news to them about the passenger and when Texas DPS and the local sheriff deputy and cops from Lake Jackson get there I tell them what I found when showing up on the scene of the accident. The two brothers had been in Houston at a Bachelors party . The brother that died was to be married later that day. And they both had been drinking and the driver fell asleep or fased out at the wheel and lost control of the car at a speed of 83mph. They estimated the accident happened at around 4:00am . I came up on it at 5:30am . In Texas they have the country Judge and Coroner hold a Coroner Inquest because of a death of this nature or fatality in a accident. I had to testify and tell the Coroner what I had seen and found because of my being a former responder for Christian County Fire & Rescue, Christian County ,MO. And during this time the Bride to be and her friends show up because on of them recognized the Older brother setting on back of the ambulance. She sees the parts of the car scattered about and runs over towards were the car was at. They have to restrain her because she freaked out when she saw the Coroner Van backing up to where they were bringing the young man's body up the bank. He flew out the car during rolling over and landed on him and slid across him and dragged him into a tree underneath the car. I had to stay in town at the police station to fill out further statements because the driver was going to be charged in the death of his brother. It was so sad and tragic to see such a thing unfold. I was heading down to Freeport /Dole fruit to drop off a empty Container and pickup a loaded one and head back to Missouri with it. It was a Nice Saturday morning in late June 1996 . I still think about it to this day. So Sad!

Tire treads being one of them. Breaks, lights, windshield wipers, etc all must be at passing quality to pass inspection to drive. This should be standard across the US. • @johnstewart6366
      @johnstewart6366 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've seen vehicle engines - and transmissions "fly out" many times - even caused it once. I don't understand why this surprises some people. Vehicle engines, and sometimes transmission too, for the most part, just "sit" in vehicles, usually on 4 rubber "mounts". Usually, the only other thing(s) that actually "hold" them in place (except gravity) are hoses, and wiring harnesses. If the vehicle is hit hard enough, in the right place(s), the engine and trans will go flying. It's (really) not all that unusual - especially of the vehicle has some age, mileage, and worn "mounts"

    • @mozarth
      @mozarth 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @leebarnes655
      @leebarnes655 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Two part metal pieces for bolt attachment are separated by rubber molding that can easily be ripped apart at impact levels like this. The car must not have braked at all and caught the pickup in mid spin at full speed and impact which accelerated the spin drastically and threw the engine out onto the road into the lanes from whence the truck came. To drive by that display of inertia gone totally wrong at speed borders on insanity. Total mesmerizing disbelief at a parallelizing level at what is unfolding before your eyes is NOT defensive driving. If instead she had hit the brakes as hard as she could the instant the pickup got sketchy in the other lane the impact might have been survivable for all.

The worse wreck I worked was a family of five that were killed when a drunk elderly male side swiped their car causing it to burst into flames burning the family to death. The final accident was an eighteen year old college freshman, who was on her way home from Texas A&M University for Christmas break. She fell asleep and drifted her ‘66 Mustang convertible under the rear of a legally parked 18 wheeler she was a beautiful young lady with a bright future ahead, and lack of sleep caused her to be decapitated. I was an assistant Fire Chief for one of our county fire departments. I would have nightmares after each fatal accident. The day I resigned and went to work for a major oil company was one of the best days of my life. But, you never forget. I even can remember the smells I encountered with the different types of death. Anyone who says they aren’t affected, is either dead inside or lying.

      Linda Ferguson Well said. If they were conscious at all it wouldn't hurt to comfort them till help arrives. Knowing nobody stopped sickens me.

    The Professionals Involved with every episode's Have conducted themselves Highly Respectful Manner. Even thru Really ,Really tough scenes, the fireman and police on scene Even stand sidebyside for a blocking wall ,while individuals extracate the victims out . For Proper dignity,privacy for thy victims. Im so sadden . No drivers in life should ever swerve radically to avoid objects . More people die this way. The vehicles are structurally designed for frontal impacts . A known test ,question and display behaviorally , is In the C.H.P. of California . Is on the driving courses at the academy. 1 yu are to maintain a certain speed and a object just appears. Not a fold down side. But a full on Fullsize Dresser standing upright in yr lanes of travel. Same speed no more no less. The only thing is professionals know a impact point so a 3°degrees slightly is available .goes impact+ push object. Then also maintaining safe controls of yr vehicle . I think in drivers training courses we need something .too many people die everyday. Because lack of knowledge . IDKw. Thank yu Texas excellent people there. Love yr diligence.💪⚖️🤔🌹

      They are distance measuring equipment, usually laser targets. It gives the troopers an idea of the energy released and thereby speed of the two vehicles, based on the distance of parts from the site of the accident.

      NCA N they use GPS to map the accident, more accuracy then using a tape measure.

    Crazy that the truck driver was involved in a murder/suicide in 2020.
