This is the best way to remodel a bathroom. Over time two piece bath/shower units have a tendency to leak at the seam. A couple extra steps can save you headaches in the future. Jons01 Since it is an exterior wall, make sure you insulate well. We like using the blown in blanket insulation. Since it is a small area, it usually isn't too expensive to call a local insulation place and have them do the area. Insulation companies can usually install insulation cheaper than you can buy it at Lowes or Home Depot.
That's the exact tub i have! My other bath tiled tub is leaking. Both bathrooms are side by side, so when i ripped out the leaking tub to replace it, i could see under the one piece tub in other room.. I noticed they didn't morter under that tub so i was surfing to see why. I believe this one piece must be as old as my house 23yrs. Finally their is one small hole in it so i ordered a marine repair "Six10" other than that seems to be holding up great!

Thank you for showing how to replace my one piece tub/shower/surround. We will be replacing siding and checking for dry rot. The tub is on the outside wall and based on your instructions, we should be able to insert a new one piece unit.
Yeah, well, I guess I won't be able to put one in our up stairs bathroom. Great video BTW

Howdy Gary! First off, nicely done video. You aren't trying to educate the world, and you keep the pacing right. Second: what brand of tub do you use? That looks like the one we had when we rented a Mother-In-Law, and now we're getting our own MIL ready for rent, and I want to install a sturdy and cost-effective one piece tub. We're in the Seattle area, but need the hook up!
+Sans Absol I recommend buying a tub/shower unit from the local plumbing supply company. You may pay a little more for it, however the big box stores typically buy a lower quality version from manufacturers to keep the competitive edge. Possibly try Ferguson Plumbing Supply.

do u need drywall/sheetrock behind the tub surround or just hook em to the stud is fine?
You install the tub to the stud and then drywall down to the lip of the tub.
I read some installs have issue of tub floor cracking. One person made a comment that any good installer puts mortar underneath.
So mortar under tub is the correct install method? and will prevent cracking? Will great stuff do the trick as well?

You typically see those issues with jacuzzi tubs that hold a lot more weight. We usually do not put anything under the tubs nor do most new construction. You can also put a bed of sand if that was a concern. If you have any more questions feel free to call us at 931-338-6380. Thank you!

Frogler King The plumber will slide the tub back out and install his plumbing. The plumber generally does not frame in for a shower.
But most people looking for "how to install" are DIYers doing everything and looking for real info. Cutting a hole and sliding a tub is pretty much self explanatory, what's next, a video on how it was delivered?

Can the same concept be use in installing the one piece shower from the outside wall of my home. It can't be maneuvered from the inside.
If it won't fit through a doorway how did they get it in the house ?
It will fit through a 36in door and usually through a door as small as 32in.

How do you replace a shower body with these parts ?
Usually the plumber sets the rough in plumbing before the tub is installed. The back side of the plumbed wall will be open. The plumber will come in after the tub is installed and adjust anything thing that needs to be adjusted before you drywall. Thank you for watching!
