Since there is no at-level intersections/crossings! And you can go really fast!
this is fucking insane because we’ve all played this game for over a decade and i’ve never once had this thought in my head but i think it does depend on where you want to go. if you follow the coastline i think it’s faster, if you go towards paleto bay i think it’s way longer or atleast feels that way but it’s less traffic and if you go through the mountains gg
The train track route is also much faster because you curb boost constantly teetering on the rails. If you actually try to curb boost on the rails it's very fast.

In the 7:15 you don't need to enter the ditch, keep going on the elevated green part on your right (you can recognize it in story mode by a few deers who are usually eating grass there) because depending on the vehicle you're driving you can't ramp up into the underpass in 7:30 Going through that elevated part you can cross the road smoothier and only then you jump into the ditch I know that because i did a lot of taxi missions on story mode and always used that route, also in the c()c1ne biker selling on online mode i use that route as well and both (taxi and bagger bike) can't ramp up the underpass
I always used the right side highway when it came to the Bunker delivery mission that involves the Phantom Wedge. Especially, when the delivery point is at the airport. Because the AP is on the right side of the city, to me, it's a bit counter intuitive to use (what the GPS says) the left highway when you have to cut through the city to get to it.
The best route is by far the left side because it is the least risky because it has no off roding as well as no turns and is only about 12 seconds slower than the middle paths which have a high chance of a crash occurring
The difference is pretty close, all things considered. I prefer the Senora Freeway. Underutilized, hassle-free straight highway. Riding the shoulder makes it easier.
One option I don’t see people mention, Lester Heist message. Anytime he messages me for the next heist prep (the og heist) I’ll click on the mission to start and then It’ll respawn me into my apartment same session and I just need to cancel it. Use it mostly to get away from griefers. My guess it’s not mentioned is cuz many either don’t know or it does kinda need to be an available option as well as it won’t always show up right away.

I prefer to use the first route you shown rather than cutting through the mountain and the country roads. I just take Great Ocean Highway southbound all the way down to the Del Perro Freeway that’s the easiest route if your trying to access the condos and stuff
My bunker is in chumash, my hangar is zancudo, i have maze bank west etc. The right is the best for me since you can just jump into the base if you want. And the drive is interesting with the traffic and turns
