I’ve been so disappointed with my new washing machine and how it hasn’t been cleaning clothes. I sat and watch a cycle, my clothes weren’t even getting wet!! This has completely changed things up. Thank you so much for posting this. This is so simple, I was even able to do this without my husband’s help!! 😂🎉

I watched this last night and did the adjustment this morning and I’m sooooo happy. I was so disappointed with my washer. You need two things to wash clothes and that’s soap and water, which this machine didn’t have. I thought it was my machine until I came across this video and read the comments. So I decided to give it a try. I’m a 50yr old woman and I did it myself. It was simple and quick. Saved me from tossing it and purchasing a regular top loader. The manufacturer needs to let the customer decide the water level and not limit it.

Worked like a charm! My LG washer is new and the regulator was on the left, but easily identifiable from the video (and I know zero about plumbing). Dude, you are like Harry Tuttle (Robert De Niro's character) in the movie Brazil, getting around government red tape to fix stuff. My washer finally works! Gladly made a one time $25 gift at your Patreon site (I just joined at $25 a month and then cancelled the monthly renewal). Great work!!

That was extremely helpful. I've had my LG washer for about 3 months now and the water level is so low that it's not really getting the clothes as clean as I would like them to be when I place it on the normal setting. Adding more water to the wash helps tremendously. Thank you, thank you, thank you very much. I am not sure what LG was thinking when they made these machines but in order to get clothes clean you need more water.

@@johndoe-vc1wemy clothes aren’t especially dirty (soiled or stained) when I wash them, HOWEVER, you definitely STILL need MORE water than the LG default setting to get clothes nice & clean & fresh! Especially white loads! Clothes may seem kind of clean but there is a permanent dingy appearance that begins to set in over time when there is not enough water cleaning your clothes & other items!!
Now in my case not only do I want my clothes clean & fresh, I also like to keep them a very long time and keep them looking and smelling nice because I’ve spent a lot of my hard earned money on them. perhaps you should reevaluate your perception of “clean”!!! I can assure you your clothes are not as clean as you think they are! I’m not sure why you’re even questioning @moniquet6127 anyways. What was your reason for asking such a question? Seems a little like bullying to me on your part!Clearly there are many other people responding to this video and many other videos on TH-cam who feel the same way about there not being enough water to get their clothes clean!

@@singingherby6186 my model is from 2015. Which year is yours from? Maybe they have reduced the water intake. For instance I can't pause the wash and open the door. Not without draining the machine first. I've seen newer machines and was surprised this was possible.
As for whiter whites use an oxygen bleach or a detergent that has it. That means powders only as liquids don't have any oxygen bleach. I wash my clothes on 60C which I've measured the machine to only reach around 52C which is fine. I used to wash at 40C but that only got upto 35C. Body temperature is the lowest temperature I'm comfortable going with.

From what I’ve watched, the TC series, with the transmission & “wavy” agitator (more like the Classic versions) are the ones to purchase. Good luck!

Another thing on front loaders I noticed is it developed a horrible smell that transferred to my clothing and towels which I couldn’t get out. This was years ago when I first bought my machine in 2008. What cured that for me was to keep the door open when not using the machine in addition to intermittent maintenance and cleaning. It allows everything to dry out really well and prevent mildew growth and build up! It’s not a big deal leaving the door open and it fixed the problem! No more mildew smell

Thank you. In my case, the machine ran for 3-4 minutes and then gave an LG IE error. I swapped the water inlet solenoid with a reconditioned one from eBay and the error lit up again. Watching your video I noticed the pipe disconnection to the water level sensor, reattached the pipe and the machine worked perfectly. Total cost £12 uk pounds for an unnecessary water inlet solenoid (will probably reinstall original part and sell the duplicate back on EBay).
Moral of the story-look for disconnecting pipes, etc, first. Thanks for your help via the video.

FYI, I did this on a Samsung front loading washer back in February 2012. I was a bit worried about doing long term damage to the washer due to the extra weight of the water. Well, it's now 2023 and the washer bearings went out, but that's a problem that affects ALL Samsung front loaders. What's interesting is the spider arm is in great shape, and these are known to only last 6-7 years on Samsungs.
My theory is that by me forcing the machine to use more water, it dilated the soap solution more in the wash mode, and used more water in the rinse mode so that it didn't corrode the aluminum spider arm due to keeping soap from building up inside the washer, thereby actually INCREASING the life of the washer.

    • @katherinekelly5380

That is an interesting point - there are a lot of videos from repair people saying washers are damaged by too much detergent but when you are only using 2 TBSP per wash that doesn’t seem possible - I wonder how much of the problem is too little water 💧

Remember adjusting the operating water levels also affects the level of the flood safety detection point this point is usually halfway up the door glass and below the rear tub vent making changes could interfere with the proper activation of the flood sensor should an inlet valve stick open.

In addition to this actually working, if you want to decrese the amount of time it takes. There is a small, generally blue in color plastic restrictor in the generally black tube comeing from the generally black solinoid, which supples water to the machine.
Inserting a two to three inch by 1/8 inch screw into the restrictor about a quarter of an inch or slightly more. And using a plyer's pull back, don't yank, slowly. It is very tight so pulling it will be a small endevor. But with steady presure and ever so slightly movements left and right, up and down. Keeping a backward pull on it, it will come out.
The time it taks to reach the water level one desires by doing what you did. Will be less time.

Great video. Did not work as expected for me how ever. I have a new LG machine and tried to adjust the water level higher. After removing the red locktite the adjustment screw only turned quarter of turn. Machine took in little more water yes, (close to the lower edge of the glass) but it did not allow opening the door after pressing pause button like it did previously. So i ended up turning the screw back to where it was. My default level how ever, was not nearly as low from the start. There is about 8cm of it measured from the bottom of the drum.

After dumping in buckets of water to save the towels I found your channel. Mine is a top-loading model from 2018 so I’ll need to figure out the details on how to adjust it on this particular machine, but I now know that there’s something I can do, other than just attempting to clean the inlet valves. Hi there! Yes, though it wasn’t through this route because apparently top load washers use weight to adjust water intake and it’s a more complicated mechanism. I unhooked the hoses from the back and the intake filters were full of mineral deposits. I didn’t think they had enough deposits to cause that much of an issue but once I cleaned those inlet hose filters (located just inside the washer where the hoses attach) my problem was 100% solved. One was a bit messed up and Amazon has a set of 4 replacement filters for $10. I cleaned them with vinegar and a toothbrush to remove deposits. Just make sure to turn off the water to the hoses before disconnecting them :)

I have had my washer like this for 6 months before realizing it will cause the washer to mix too much cold water into every cycle. This is called the pressure switch/pressure sensor and you can buy a new one online if yours broke. Or get a screwdriver real hot and carefully melt the indent back in it. I’m going to try following the instructions in reverse to get it to work right - tighten it all the way then 2 1/4 turns to the left. One thing front load HE owners don’t realize is that there is a TON of water underneath the inner tub that you cannot see. It’s getting your clothes clean and if you need full submersion get a washer with a deep fill option. Agitator if you are stain prone.

One little comment I would like to add (this is just my assumption - don't shoot the messenger lol I just pass the information on) ... is that modern washers have to now obey strict water saving laws, therefor newer washers are made (on purpose) to use less water (I guess the green thumbs want to save the planet) and thus the washers now have to rely on the new/modern strong detergents to do the dirty work instead (pardon the pun) - instead of using the "cleaning forces" of water itself. 🤷‍♂️

I have a question, my lg washe machine all of the sudden wont spin and drain! Could it be the water level or the drain pump??

  • @justmadeit2
    @justmadeit2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Machines from 20+ years ago were better. I can understand in a state that has water droughts for a machine to use less water but here in England we get lots of rain and theres seems to be this craze for using less water

How is the machine doing? Seems like it must be very reliable to own the same machine for this long. Thinking about buying a LG set myself. If I get a front load LG I will definitely do this trick if applicable!!!

I have LG washer/dryer that are 15 years old. Once these are done I'm buying another LG because they have been great. Had a repair guy come once to fix a small issue and he said LG makes really good washer/dryers. Highly recommend!

@@angelahernandez4932 that’s awesome! Love to hear it. I’m definitely getting a LG set when my new home is finished and ready for us to move in. Super excited to buy the set!

hilarious that so many people can't seem to figure out how to use less detergent and stop using fabric softener. you don't need more water, you need less detergent.
all you're doing is voiding your warranty and stressing your motor/motor driver.
So many of us can figure out how to use our HE front loading washers with great results.

Great video. These "high deficiency" (water miser) washing machines are utter garbage. A friend has one on they dont clean clothes worth a damn. More government meddling. The purpose of a washing machine is to clean clothes well...not save water. These same.folks have also flirted wjth waterless urinals and those failed miserably too.
There is a very good reason that these machines were designed to use the levels of water they did for over 70 years.

You can make extra money, I sure would pay you to adjust the water level in my Electrolux. I am going to look around for someone in my area to do this. I have been wasting time to run additional cycles to rinse rinse my clothes.

    • @Ohkeh640
      @Ohkeh640 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Get a bucket and fill that up then put it into your liquid detergent slot while the machine is washing your clothes… it’ll have more water

This is great, but what about a new washer that has more computer parts than washing parts? I hate my new washer and liked my 12 yr old whirlpool duet better. but the good thing is that I passed it on to my son, who would love to trade any day I ask.
