The ads didn't do it, My friends didn't convince me, the bilboards didn't sway me. But this song coupled with the game has convinced me overwhelmingly to purchase this game.
for some reason this is one of the most haunting The National songs I've ever heard. What a compliment to such an amazing game and franchise. Kudos to both The National and Valve.
you know, i am so glad that music developers use that kind of music in their games, it makes me feel a little better, cause some who had never known about this magic before, can cognize this awesomeness even through the game.
@SseanSvL Much like a few of the demonstrated test chambers for Portal 1, a few tests didn't make the cut in co-op for Portal 2 or were altered slightly... or only exists to 'wow' people in the trailers. Like the TV commercials involving the robots.
This was a lovely treat to find playing on the radio in game. I ended up staying in ratman's hideout the whole time just looking at the wall murals til the song ended.
@Timisneat The turret song at the end pretty much guarantees Glados/Caroline is her mom. If you look at Chell's bring your daughter to work day project...who other than Cave johnson would make sure his daughter was the best of the best? There's tons of evidence to back it up if you look it up.
LYRICS: Exile. It takes your mind again. Exile. It takes your mind again. You got sucker's luck... Have you given up? Does it feel like a trial? Does it trouble your mind the way, you trouble mine. Exile. It takes your mind again. Exile. It takes your mind again. Oh, you meant so much. Have you given up? Does it feel like a trial? Does it trouble your mind the way, you trouble mine. Does it feel like a trial? Now, you're thinkin' too fast you're like, marbles on glass. more but post is full
@GAARAisthebeast I played through the Co-op campaign a bunch and they totally had wall bouncing puzzles there. I don't know about the solo campaign though
@FLYProductions100 If I'm good remember, it is in the ratman hideout played on radio, just after place with pictures made by him. I'm not sure if it this song, but there song played for sure.
@UntouchedShadovv Taking that a step further, I think it's meant to be about Chell, from Rattman's perspective. "Does it trouble your mind the way you trouble mine?"
Finding that radio that played this in the begininning of "The Cold Boot" created one of the most beautiful puzzels in the game. It's a shame you couldn't bring the radio with you after completing the room
Paint-able Moonrocks. Very pretty. Very deadly. I may be sick right now handling them. Well, what do they say? When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
@OktoberStorm Acutally, if it wasn't for Portal 2 this song would not have existed in the first place. But I guess that makes you even more correct, heheh... It is a very moving song. I had never heard of The National before hearing this song in the game, and maybe now I'll look out for more of their music...
@totter2 One is called "Exile Vilify" which we wrote for Tom Berninger's favorite video game, "Portal 2" message from the latest newsletter. so obviously, that's maybe the answer. and god damn it - this only makes tom berninger even more awesome.
@djoowtjuh She (as P-Body is feminine) didn't. She shot it AT the wall that isn't coated with lunar dust, but it redirected onto a wall with the lunar dust.
@drwolfik i could care less that iv listened to them longer but its just that this is my favorite band, i have all their albums, seen them in concert. it makes me mad when people judge other people. I suggest to buying the album Boxer, Its the best CD you'll ever buy
@Charri67 In chapter 2 the test chamber that when u walk in the panel is coming out of the ground and there is two lasers in the chamber. If you look around u will find a den. Jump in and in the den there is a radio playing this song.
@THEKCSHOW100 they look like the co-op mode to me, cuz the portal on one of them what light blue which is the colour portal you will only see in the co op mode.
@Shryne I think the turret song wasn't GLaDOS. Ithink the turrets did that. I mean, if GLaDOS knew about that, when you escaped, she wouldn't have showed you it because she's evil again. as for the science project, I think she just made a potato battery. Kinda hard to tell, cuz her project grew into the worlds biggest plant
@TarantinoMafioso Added what I think the lyrics are might not be perfect but I'm pretty sure they're close @EvilWizardMaltheore No problem couldn't resist the chance, such an awesome song and game
@LoudCovers Check again. It's metal. But the point of the original trailer was to showcase the co-op aspect and the physics so the guys at Valve can be forgiven on this one.
did anyone notcie around 2:02 P body shoots a portal on a black surface tile that doesnt have any white gel on it and it still appears? just a though....
Reminds me of the ending of a completely unrelated yet not too dissimilar series Dollhouse. Look up Remains by Joss Whedon and Maurissa Tanchareon Stumbling upon an old facility in the future. Good stuff :-D
GLADOs' little "For science" line at the end scared the crap outta me.
And *THIS* is why music is the key to setting up the mood
The ads didn't do it, My friends didn't convince me, the bilboards didn't sway me. But this song coupled with the game has convinced me overwhelmingly to purchase this game.
On of the most beautiful song i have heard lately, one of the best games i have played too.
for some reason this is one of the most haunting The National songs I've ever heard. What a compliment to such an amazing game and franchise. Kudos to both The National and Valve.
beautiful
This trailer is so cool and epic. I love it!
i loves this music and portal 2 was amazing
The trailer works almost perfectly with this song, nice job!
Beautiful song. Downloaded it after hearing it once in the game.
Never again, such a great game, so humorous, with such backstage melancholy.
Thank you.
The first time i heard this song was in a sad animation and i dont know if you guy did or not but was "this" close to crying when i heard it.
P-Body und Atlas sind einfach ein Dreamteam.^^ Witzig und niedlich zugleich. Das zeigt, das Teamarbeit Spaß macht.
@MisterCBlair In single player, it was in Chapter 2 I think, there was a hidden room with Exile written on the wall and a radio playing this song xD
this song makes the co-op trailers so amazing
I like the music
It makes me feel calm
This is really awesome. Love the band and love the game too. Thanks for making this video man.
This is fantastic. One of the all-time greatest songs.
Almost made me cry. So epic...
BRAVO!
cant stop listening to this song its so pleasing to the ears and relaxing
Great song, great video: nice timing.
This video is professionally made!
Great game great song
Game of the damn Decade
Such an amazing song so suprised it was made for the soundtrack.
@ItchyTrojan This song is released on iTunes and such... as like "Exile Vilify [from the game 'Portal 2']" or something...
you know, i am so glad that music developers use that kind of music in their games, it makes me feel a little better, cause some who had never known about this magic before, can cognize this awesomeness even through the game.
Thanks for the Lab Rat comic. Its awesome.
@TheyCodeWeDestroy thanks for the heads up I added it, glad you liked the video
@r00t1337 the music is a reference to an easter egg in the game a hidden radio is found in one of the rat man's dens playing this song
Dang! The National and Portal! That is epic!
Great Video man
@Timisneat The turret song at the end pretty much guarantees Glados/Caroline is her mom. If you look at Chell's bring your daughter to work day project...who other than Cave johnson would make sure his daughter was the best of the best? There's tons of evidence to back it up if you look it up.
that was so beautiful :,(
2:03 you can't make a portal there!
2:03
the portal effect in this trailer is so much more vivid than in game...
LYRICS:
Exile.
Awesome, Once Upon A Time In 2fort
The music is from portal :3
SIR MAY I CRY? 😭
this is actualy the best trailer that valve has made
@FLYProductions100 If I'm good remember, it is in the ratman hideout played on radio, just after place with pictures made by him. I'm not sure if it this song, but there song played for sure.
This song goes sooo well with this video game! I almost cried when I heard it!
@UntouchedShadovv Taking that a step further, I think it's meant to be about Chell, from Rattman's perspective.
"Does it trouble your mind the way you trouble mine?"
My teacher in my computer program class was playing this song....
That's nice
aww.. lucky.
DAMN! you just got my idea :(
Good vid. Doug Rattmann for life! :D
@Shryne we don't know that for sure. it's a theory. a cool one, but with little to back it up.
Favorite part, hands down: the clip from 1:35 - 1:50. Awesome.
@nexusprime000 It also says, "Sucker's Luck."
Ending of this video is EPIC :D
@Rapoob you could always buy the song on itunes and put it on repeat while you play :)
amazing
Finding that radio that played this in the begininning of "The Cold Boot" created one of the most beautiful puzzels in the game. It's a shame you couldn't bring the radio with you after completing the room
Just imagine listening to this while scarfing bean after bean and sketching modern day cave drawings and writings...
I was listening this song in a german cimetery, That was awesome.
Paint-able Moonrocks. Very pretty. Very deadly. I may be sick right now handling them. Well, what do they say? When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
Lemonade = lemon grenade = combustible lemon. PORTAL 3 CONFIRMED
@pickleV3 I believe they're test levels or scrapped levels.
I think that it is a shame that people only find out about music like this through a video game...also, PORTAL 2 WAS AWESOME!
Very very good. I love this song . The play is better in Paris. ^^
@OktoberStorm Acutally, if it wasn't for Portal 2 this song would not have existed in the first place. But I guess that makes you even more correct, heheh...
It is a very moving song. I had never heard of The National before hearing this song in the game, and maybe now I'll look out for more of their music...

message from the latest newsletter. so obviously, that's maybe the answer. and god damn it - this only makes tom berninger even more awesome.
Exile Vilify BEST
AH! I love The National!
I suggest to buying the album Boxer, Its the best CD you'll ever buy
i loves this music
freaky awesome song
! Just amazing song
@shadowofthenever It is a trailer.. they might have changed it so that its not there anymore.
@Charri67 In chapter 2 the test chamber that when u walk in the panel is coming out of the ground and there is two lasers in the chamber. If you look around u will find a den. Jump in and in the den there is a radio playing this song.
@bellboy111 in a certain chamber you'll find a radio which plays this song.
By the way... awesome video and awesome song
Add the tag PORTAL2NATIONALEXILE to this vid to win prizes and be the official vid for the song. PLEASE. THIS IS GREAT.
@Robloxpivs thats funny since this one isn't made by valve and is in fact a fan made compilation of all the trailers valve made
best trailer ever created really really makes me want to get the game, if only i had the money =/
@THEKCSHOW100 they look like the co-op mode to me, cuz the portal on one of them what light blue which is the colour portal you will only see in the co op mode.
@Me11857 Best of luck to you, bro.
@nexusprime000 It also says, "Sucker's luck." and "Vilify." I think there is an "exile." but I'm not sure.
@LegoMovieMan44 its not. it just looks like metal cause the lighting in the room is very dark.
@Twestination Totally. I think they struck a good balance.
@rup1u5 No, it's 'emptinesses'.
Обожаю этот клип. как и саму игру. обязательно раз в год перепрохожу.
@TarantinoMafioso Added what I think the lyrics are might not be perfect but I'm pretty sure they're close
@EvilWizardMaltheore No problem couldn't resist the chance, such an awesome song and game
"Does it feel like a trial?"
I dunno, it feels like a huge success to me!
Great song, but is it me or did P-Body shoot at a black wall and place a portal? 2:01
+Gorb N' Denn yeah but some how elevated and went up
i think in the same room with exile on the wall, the opposite wall had "vilify, don't even try"
i love it
The video was done well
@LoudCovers Check again. It's metal. But the point of the original trailer was to showcase the co-op aspect and the physics so the guys at Valve can be forgiven on this one.
@TheChloeBubble Exile Vilify by The National...
i like how at 2:52 the music and video seem to move in sync
hey how come at 2:02 they could put portals on black surfaces
Peter Tum it's just the lighting
@THEKCSHOW100 No, there beta chambers. Free DLC will come out this summer.
Шикарно))
Ага песня иигра класс!
Ви все а портал и портал 2?
@LehaHL2yt 1 Здравствуй
did anyone notcie around 2:02 P body shoots a portal on a black surface tile that doesnt have any white gel on it and it still appears? just a though....
Portal has a very sinister yet thought-provoking underbelly. If they were to make a Portal 3, I think they should unveil it to the gamer.
Reminds me of the ending of a completely unrelated yet not too dissimilar series Dollhouse. Look up Remains by Joss Whedon and Maurissa Tanchareon Stumbling upon an old facility in the future. Good stuff :-D
16 people doesn't own Portal 2
