So there are a couple of reasons why your complaint that the gearing isn't tall enough isn't anything to worry about. 1. Unlike most other baggers it is chain drive... which means that you can change the gearing easy peasy by just putting a smaller tooth sprocket on the back or a larger tooth sprocket on the front.... or both if you want a really big change. I actually seen one of these in the wild here in Oklahoma, USA where I’m at and from a distance, it looks acceptable if not, fairly impressive. Personally, I would have a blast on a bike like this even though I ride a Harley. I love the idea of a “bagger” but not the weight or the price. Couple that with the handling and performance and this would be more my style. The only problem is I’m not interested in DCT. I’m not against it at all, but if I had my choice, I want a traditional manual transmission with a clutch. Which is not an option in the states, HONDA! WTH? That’s a big mistake unless they are trying to NOT sell them in America? The vast majority of people who want a bagger, even a baby bagger, want a clutch too. That decision will absolutely impact sales of this model here. Big mistake, imo.
Have to disagree with “loping sound of a v-twin”. Sounds like a sewing machine to me. 😅. Anyway I’m not opposed to the idea of this bike tho I wud never buy one for a variety of reasons the main being DCT. An automatic motorcycle is simply a deal breaker. Defeats half the fun of riding. If I were looking at this class of bike I’d save for another year and get the Lowrider ST. Superior in every metric except price. But…I’m not one to shame other riders so if this floats your boat and makes you happy then enjoy the wind!
Yep, the Lowrider ST is a sweet bike but it is twice the price. Also, here in Canada we get the 1100T in standard which is the one I'd go for if I was in the market. Too bad they didn't give US riders the option.
I have been riding for 40 years and get zero enjoyment manually shifting a bike. The DCT is an amazing transmission and can outshift many manuals. I have watched comparisons and it’s nit even a close contest. Most people fail to realize that the DCT has 5 different shifting modes and they all offer something different. You can even manual shift it with paddies. All formula race cars use DCT transmissions.
Why are bike manufacturers so hung up on high pipes. They do nothing but cut down on the available space for the bags. What is wrong with the traditional low pipes, it is not a scrambler after all.

Honda announced the manual 6speed is coming to the USA
I just wish they came in more colors than black and they added some CHROME!
Ciao.
Bel video.
Si dice che la moto sia instabile oltre i 130 km/h.
Tu hai notato il problema ?
This really should be a larger frame.
I think I would defiantly choose another bike for that price range. 18k seems like a lot.
@@cowmath77 wow, I’m talking about total cost in Canada. 18 k for a base model dct bagger that will have only a 50% resale value in 5 years. Not a smart investment when there are a lot of choices in that price range that will actually hold their value better and do a better job of touring. He even said the bike is to small for 2 up riding comfortably which is the main qualifier for a bagger. It’s made for 1 up over night or weekend trips only. Sure people cross the country on mopeds but they are not comfortable…and they don’t invest 18k into them ether.
@@cowmath77 did you even watch the video? He stated that the model test is over 17k Canadian before the taxes and finance fees. At 9:30ish.
You need to pay attention before making comments on subjects you obviously can’t comprehend.
Public school definitely let you down.
@@Bugoutnow589 no need to be a di*k about it. He made a mistake.
Lol I wouldn’t be bragging about that income…..Ok I’m done with this silliness…..bye
@@cowmath77 You make too much to purchase a Rebel.
A beast for the little guy...
My son was looking at this the other week. We’ll see what direction he goes between this or the Kawasaki ninja of eliminator.
This is a lot more bike than the Kawasaki 400s. He might want to look at the Rebel 500 for more comparable performance.
I've never had a cruiser/bagger, though i have looked at a Triumph Bobber, but that's only good for local runs down is Spain (dry roads), by the style i like it in! This however is something worth considering, easy to fit an auxiliary tank under the seat, with a decent fabricator, i can see it as a long distance tourer.
Good, honest review...oh,you can always trade the wife for a smaller Thai or Filipino bride? 😅
its not comfortable enough for a long distance cruiser... its really just too small...
@@AyaWetts I'm Scottish, small...as Jim Bruer described our own lads of AC/DC :)
@@williamrae9954 feel free to try it out.. I'm only 5 feet tall, not exactly a giant. I can tour on this and have done thousands of miles, but its still not nearly as comfortable as something larger, and is not my first choice. I still love my Rebel and ride it around, but not for long trips any more.
@@AyaWetts My ideal woman... if she's bigger than my rucksack... ha ha ha
Wonder if there is a steering damper available for them?
Where is the shaft drive ? The only thing holding me back !
Nice video 👍
With shaft drive would have easily been best bike in it’s category ever
Doesn’t the 1100 come with forward controls?
i like it
Remember, the Indian's 100HP is the engine rating, not the HP at the tire. Cycle World did a Dyno and I think had 83HP at the wheel.
Like any Suzuki using the K5 motor platform (not the '950' in Europe),only 130bhp at the wheel, it costs the exact same to unleash all models to 150,including the 950!
Is there a reverse function?
😊
Honda should've brought back the VT 1100 and did this... Missed the mark like all auto makers.
That fuel tank is a joke?
Who is in charge at honda, one miss step after another? North America gets screwed constantly. NT1100, Hornet, Transalp ect.
Big wow we got the xl150 with drum brake.
Honda I ride a KTM because of you!
NT1100 would have been a better choice for the states....
How the hell do you de tune an 1100 cc to only get 86 hp? How the hell does an 1100cc 2 cylinder get only 72 ft/lbs of torque?
Rebel is good for short trips, but long trips its just too small, too small of tank, and the chain is horrible for long distance. I've done thousands of miles in long trips on my Rebel 1100 where I added my own bags and fairing... and I'd choose basically any other "touring" bike... I've done a few trips on a Vulcan Voyager, and its night and day difference how much nicer it is traveling on that thing.
Bring back the big v twin cruiser pls honda. The vtx
He said Honda doesn’t have a bagger, what about the Goldwing?
I want the batwing cowl and bags for my 300. 😂😂
Interesting … Good video 👍
Thanks!
On behalf of all the riders who started on a Honda rebel 250, no we do not have fond memories of that bike, even back then we knew it was junk 😂
I guess not everyone gets nostalgic.
@@DifferentSpokesTV you can get nostalgic about those first rides without feeling nostalgic about the bike itself. Did you own a rebel 250?
@@YouMotorcycleI have to say that the nostalgic feeling you get with a 250 125 or 50 is kinda like when you were 4 and got your first big wheel or 8 and first BMX. Everyone starts at the cradle. I have fond memories of the Honda nighthawk 250 I got to use at the MSF course. Noticed one sold at a dealership recently and can't find any. My first bike was a Buell blast 500. From there I went down cc instead of up but my next bike could be this one.
@@billpirillis9961 there are many good 250, 150, 50cc bikes out there.. I wouldn't say the rebel 250 was one of them. Your night hawk is an entirely different bike.
Sounds like the perfect daily rider back and forth to work.
basically a $12000ish usd touring bike? That is tempting.
as long as you like short trips... its a very small bike and not comfortable for long trips.
@@AyaWettswhat do you recommend for longer trips like a 2 hour commute everyday what would you choose?
@@lostpockets2227 2 hours you want something very comfortable, and possibly very large if you have plenty of things to carry with you... you'll need to find what works for you though, there are so many options that would fit
$15,000 here and so many others built better. Don't need that power.
Sixth gear and probably 5th gear are overdrive gears already.
I have an 1100, it is really more of a sport bike than a bagger. It just isn't big enough
In the last 4 years, I've added 7 bikes to my garage; 6 of them were brand new and the Grand America is an '18, purchased in '19 with a couple thousand miles on it.
I am happy with the bikes, but I don't think that any of my bikes should cost what I paid for them, standing on their own.
Anyone have a link to the saddle bags?
these are OEM saddle bags, you can only get them when you buy Touring version of the bike, but don't worry, they are not so good, for example, they don't have quick release and the capacity only 35 liters, buy yourself Viking Bags
if i ever got the cruiser itch, i would probably get this. but for now, i think i'll stick with the ninja 1000 w/saddlebags.
Amazing bike. I've owned 2
can see here how uncomfy the leg position is having pegs below vs out front. They could have had a good bike but..........
shaking due to bad tires
if they made a rebel bagger with a fixed giant front fairing like the indian challenger i'd buy one right away.. i dont like the batwing
Who wants to be cranking 4.5k RPM All-Day-Long on the Highway... It's like a 50 yr. old Guy listening to a 20 something Girl Talk... It will WEAR YOU OUT!
It’s a shame this version is only offered as a DCT 😢
I seen without
I've seen reviews where you can put it into manual mode an paddle shift with some controls on the left grip. The shifting seemed great. I think you can also paddle shift up or down of dct put you in a gear to high or low. Then dct will resume control.
Big mistake, imo.
you could buy the 1100 non T manual and add the bags and fairing aftermarket
👍
I’m 6ft 400lbs I feel like I’ll look to big on this bike
Is this a woman's bike? Can taller riders be comfortable?
The average male is 5'9", I'm 5' 10" fits me perfectly.
@@kaferhaus seems to be a great bike.
I went a different route, but I've seen men thatve taken those for long trips and loved it. Very reliable
Don't like them, go back to the old rebel
Fire who ever decided to change them.
Not a true tourer. Engine is too rowdy, the trans should have a loafing OD and the range is silly short.
I know it’s made well, but man is that thing ugly. It looks like it survived a front end collision with a pick up truck.
Bruh just install a smaller rear sprocket - easy fix!!!
Too bad it's only DCT in the US. In my opinion, DCT is an answer to a question nobody asked.
Better than a Harley but it’s no Triumph.
you spend MORE time about other bikes
I just think that motor is butt ugly. Even though cooling fins aren't necessary, I miss em.
Why are bike manufacturers so hung up on high pipes. They do nothing but cut down on the available space for the bags. What is wrong with the traditional low pipes, it is not a scrambler after all.
