Those were geese making the noise at the beginning of the video. My uncle did all the carpentry work on the train engine years ago. I was fortunate to be there once when the train came through the tunnel. Thanks for taking me along. God bless.

You have to ride the chairlift!!! That was my favorite part of our visit there this summer. Great video 👍

Hi Brook and Holler! We rode it several years ago...maybe that's why the hike seemed so difficult. haha! Thank you for watching and the kind comment we appreciate it.

This is a pretty place! Your channel is growing fast. I found it not that long ago and I’m enjoying going back and watching your older videos. Karen, I’m a mountain girl too but the NC mountains!

I helped build one of the trails there. Also we would take nets throughout the Stock Creek and ID all the fish and mussel species for the state. I also got to go exploring inside the tunnel and my picture is in the visitor center

Just watched this video and it has now become our favorite! When we head back home this summer to Bristol, we are planning to visit. Both of us grew up in SW VA and never heard of this place!

I just discovered and subscribed to your channel today. I really enjoy watching your videos. In this particular one I heard Karen mention that she was from nearby. I would like to inquire as to exactly from where nearby. I myself am from and grew up in Scott County Virginia and I graduated from Gate City High School. I now reside in Kingsport Tennessee and am curious as to where you both currently reside. Also in the description and in the video you make mention of "the river". The actual name of the stream that flows through the tunnel is Stock Creek.

Thanks for subscribing. I grew up in southwest VA, Wise County. We have lived many different places, but now reside in East Tennessee. Thanks for the name of the creek. That’s good to know! ~ Karen

Hi! Thank you for watching and commenting. It is a beautiful place to visit and stay. I know the campground is open but not sure about the yurts. You might call the main office to find out. I put contact info in the description of the video. Hope this helps.
