This episode was excruciatingly painful. In addition, all of the actors and actresses did an outstanding job portraying their characters! I'm also still amazed that this is Sae-byeok's, the pickpocket girl, first acting role! She did great! Kudos to all of them!

If you watch any of the behind the scenes footage, you can see that the scene with Ji-yeong was particularly difficult for Jung HoYeon. Like you said - it was her first acting role, and this episode is heavy for someone with such little experience. She did an absolutely incredible job; but in the behind the scenes footage, repeatedly obtaining that extreme emotion to get the proper take for that scene was clearly taking its toll on both actresses.

Played them here in Brazil too, though the names might differ. "Into the hole" was the one where you made a circle in the sand/asphalt and had to aim your marbles to end up in there, preferably knocking out opponents' in the process?
We used to visit repair shops to ask for metal ball bearings from broken parts, they were much heavier than a regular marble and would be hell to knock out. In my street we played for keeps, with the only rule being that someone's last marble couldn't be taken, it was super fun

At the same time, though, isn't a big part of his trust in Sang-Woo BECAUSE he's an immigrant? Like yes Ali has a big heart, but part of the reason he's so quick to trust Sang-Woo in particular is because Sang-Woo is one of the first Koreans to treat him, an immigrant, with any decency. Ali's Korean boss doesn't pay his wages, Han Mi-nyeo (212) says racist things to him, etc. While Sang-Woo lets him use his phone, gives him bus fare, and refers to him using Korean honorifics, which is huge in Korean culture to my understanding.
Ali is naturally trusting, but the fact that he, an immigrant, is treated with such respect by Sang-Woo is what leads him to trust him so much. Ali's trust and his status as an immigrant are pretty interconnected I'd say.

It's telling that Deouk-su; to some extent, is more upstanding than Sang-woo. As out of all of them he actually went to one of the guardsmen for assurance they could play another format with the marbles. While Sang-woo only chose to manipulate Ali, rather than actually consider his manipulative suggestion could actually be a possibility. Shows he was and is in it for himself only. Yet conceivably, he would know such an interpretation of the rules can be deduced, as he brought up clause 3 as a means to have a way out.

I wouldn't go that far. Nothing in the series suggests that Deok su has any compassion for his fellow participants. He definitely also was and is in it for himself only, there's no question about that. Sang woo is just simply a lot smarter, which allows him to be more cunning and insidious than Deok su. @@subhashismandal9871 So, why everyone is mad at Sang Woo for cheating on Ali, but no one, AT THIS POINT in the story, is equally pissed off at Gi-hun for cheating on number 1? Ali at least seemed to have all of his mental faculties intact. Number 1, in Gi-hyn eyes, seemed to have some sort of dementia because of the tumor. Gi-hun took advantage of an elderly man with mental problems, and I don't see anyone criticizing him for that on the same level as they do with Sang Woo in this episode. Hypocrisy?

There’s a theory that they they all could have won. The announcer said that they only had to take their partners 10 marbles but not that they had to end up with all 20 marbles. All they had to do was switch marble bags and they would have technically ended up with their partners 10 marbles.

Tug of war and the riot encouraged people to team up, get closer, bond, even form friendships. They KNEW people would partner with the person they trusted most.
