Jak 2 is one of the best games of all time and i think Jason Rubin and Andy Gavin don't get enough credit for what they actually accomplished.. turning a colourful 3d platformer into a dark greedy shooting action racing and mission based platformer, and still worked ..
Absolutely. On a technical level this game is absolutely outstanding. It’s amazing just how much they managed to pull off. It has aged like a fine wine!
Bring me back to the PS2 era and help me forget the fact that I can't get a PS5 at the moment XD planning to replay my favorites (Jak and Daxter and Ratchet and Clank)
Imagine being 6 years old playing Jak and Daxter 1. And, then not bring able to play Jak 2 when it comes out, because you aren't old enough: since it's only been 2 years from the first release.
@@DaxterMasterI got my PS2 for my 7th birthday in 2002. That Christmas sitting under the tree were four additional s game to go with it and Precursor legacy was one of those games. I never got very far on my own but my dad was a big gamer and I remember going over his house and him and my brother being so much farther in the game. I remember the lava bike level, snow level, the ocean temple level playing those levels through them as a kid. Jak 2 had a lot of my hype and my dad got it when it first came out around release. I remember playing it at his house and being off putting to me due to the darker tone and how radically different the shooting, driving, and atmosphere was to the bright and happy precursor legacy game I knew. Years later I want to give it a fair try now
@@Hardrive2677 There are some graphical glitches and framerate drops at certain parts. It plays much smoother on the ps5, but the graphical glitches are still there
aka how to kill a game's identity lol, my god what a polarizing, weird wonderful fun and frustrating sequel. A gta trend surfing mess, along with a major sonic adventure dev hire, led to this bizarre follow up to a masterpiece. Instead they went for the gta money, attempting to market it to teens/adults who couldnt or werent allowed to get GTA. an impossible task. It earned 70s across the board for a reason. Polarizing gameplay loop of timed fetchquests and bizarre missions, it only got worse with 3. There is no franchise identity. Shouldve made another collectathon, hell even with Yasuhara when he came back to Sonic, he made Unleashed. Essentially a bad Jak and Daxter game in disguise. oyyyy The first game stands alone, a swan song for the platforming genre. Before GTA killed the industry, the FIRST TIME.
What are you talking about? It not only holds its identity, it was/is a pioneer for so many things to come. Jak II held all the fundamental elements of Jak and Daxter while being something new. I'm blown away to hear you didn't like it, as it was not only popular among fans but it brought in a whole new segment of people who otherwise did not care for the series.
@@DeathByMercyI didn’t like it as a kid. A lot of that was the tone just being very off putting me as I was used to precursor legacy. I liked the guns but hated the vehicles

Agreed! 💯 This is why Jak II remains a favorite of mine!
But their true Masterpiece is "Rings of Power", which is one of the most revolutional and ingenius games ever made.
It was my favorite game as a kid
Yup. Just imagine jak 2 with jak 3’s guns 😍

Great Job :)
Funny how Errol would later become a major antagonist in the following game.
Like Prince Charming from Shrek 2.

I was actually 4 when Jak 1 came out and 6 when Jak II came out and I played it when I was 6. Great times!

after learning that THE yasuhara who contributed to a lot of sonic games i enjoy, it makes me love this game more than i already do
Damn this game was badass I wish I was 5 again my ps2 doesn’t work anymore
You can still play it on PS3/PS4/PS5 :)
@@DaxterMaster does it run well on a ps4? I heard there were some glitches. I’d rather just get a box TV and play it on a ps2 if that’s the case

There's an unofficial PC port for Jak 1 and 2 that are even better than the PS3 version. They're also working on Jak 3 now@@Maximusg400
Oh damn I didn't know Josh Scherr and Bruce Straley were at Naughty Dog at this point
They even worked on The Precursor Legacy! And Bruce since CTR :)
Thank you
we need 4, period.
God can anyone say remake?? That would be amazing, but really I wanna see a series reboot, hopefully some day 😢
Man. I miss Naughty Dog from these days. Things have felt profoundly off since Neil Druckmann became in charge of the team.
And then they leave it behind unlike ratchet and clank or crash or Spyro
Umm... Cool
I consider the sequels better than the first because it definitely stands out compared to Ratchet and Clank and Sly Cooper.
where tf is Jak 4 🥲
Jak 2 was such a shitty game
