Flytanium is NOT a chinese company to whoever commented that! They are based out of pleasant grove utah. They used to have scales made in china but now they make their own stuff in house here in utah
These lock up much better with skiffs installed and broken it. It’s the stamped bearing cage that makes full on lock up hard to obtain. I swap them into pretty much everything anyway.
It’s basically a bugout with a shark lock and thicker blade. The blade shape is almost identical. The price is right in my opinion. Mine has no blade play at all and the blade swings freely. It’s a nice little knife.
From what I understand with this build, Flytanium created the design and pushed the design into production, after getting Demko's licensing and okay for the use of the shark lock. Flytanium is a Chinese brand and company, however the knife was made in Taiwan and not China. This gives me a huge indication that the knives were built in the same factory as Andrew uses for the production of his 20.5's. It also makes sense because although he had to license the shark lock out to Flytanium, he essentially wouldn't have to worry about any shady IP re-working on the factory end because they have already manufactured the locks before and I assume he has full trust in his regular OEM. I could be wrong but since they are Taiwan made, I'd bet the over rather than the under that it was the same OEM from Demko Knives.
Probably true. However, it’s a pretty simple mechanism. It would be easy (for a skilled machinist/ manufacturer) to recreate simply by buying an AD20.5.
@@Stahlwerk88yeah except it sucks ass and is too low down on the handle, leading to a much more awkward disengagement By the way: I have never handled an atlas lock knife so don’t really know what I’m talking about 😂 but it looks way more awkward to me
Got mine over the weekend and honestly I am disappointed. Mine got returned. I've bought Flytanium stuff for years, so I figured this would be a good buy. First off, I got a blemished one with a ding in the aluminum scale. The edges of the aluminum scales are pretty sharp, I know Flytanium knows how to chamfer scales so idk what happened there. The micarta was poorly finished with fraying edges and a big oily finger print on the show side. Nonissue since I can sharpen: the bevels were super uneven and blade was fairly dull. It feels like a $75-$100 knife, not the $200 it costs. If you want the shark lock id get an ad20.5 and aftermarket scales for the same price...
I hope I didn't miss it in the video, but can you flick it open (using centrifugal force only)? I live in one of those states with gravity knife laws and I'm considering this knife for carry if it doesn't fall under gravity knife laws. Thanks
Ive been waiting for this video since you posted the teaser! I’ve been seeing a lot of the same issues on Reddit, not sure if maybe it’s just a first run issue. Also, I believe these are aluminum body’s.
@@pocketpriorities are you going to do a follow up video on this knife? Maybe after some carry time, see if it breaks in and you can get the pivot tightness correct?
I like the minimal branding on the fly blade! Have you ever tried one of those WE or Civivi synex locks? Couldn't tell the difference never handled a Demko or similar lock. Cool knife , mod friendly coming from Flytanium. Thanks for sharing 👍
I like both locks, might even like the snecx super lock a little more, I go back and forth on it. I do think the super lock locks up more solidly at least when comparing my 20.5 with my WE vision and my buddy’s civivi vision. The 20.5 is a bit finicky to get perfect action and no play but the snecx super lock knives just lock up perfectly while having fantastic action really easy
My Microtech MSI has steel liners on it as well. G10, RAM LOK but the steel liners rust with extended periods of field use. I prefer the shark lock more. Curious if the steel liners on this knife will rust the same..?? I am not a normal knife user. none of this applies to a normal person. As an Infantry Marine I satisfy the gear itch with a solid pocket knife. Anything "Andrew Demko" shark lock is perfect. But Microtech MSI is a close 2nd for me. The shark lock has never failed. The RAM LOK has released when battoning, not a real failure but not a strong as the shark lock.
@@jacobmckinney2607 interesting idea, maybe if it was a full titanium scale vs a liner? unfortunately I don’t see a lot of similar demand in the market for aftermarket parts that can’t be “seen” if you know what I mean.
Ok there are no steel liners in the flytanium Arcade. There is a metal that looks like a liner around the shark lock has this guy showed but the Demko he showed also has those liners. I would say the shark lock is likely kinda like a custom tigger in a ar15. The tigger is built around a metal cage. The entire scale is machined 6061 Aluminum. Interesting that the screw might be titanium though.

I still think I would rather have the clip point AD20.5. I'm pretty sure the scales are aluminum, not titanium.
You’re right on the aluminum thanks!
Correction: Aluminum scales not titanium! 1:10
Yeah they are 6061 T6 Aluminum

Yeah good call!
I would add flytanium was going for that ano protech aluminum scale feel on the Arcade. It’s definitely going after the bugout.
The flytanium Arcade i think wins over the Demko for its nice clean scale design and shape, and I liked the paper cutting Awesome.

Cold Steel themselves damn near did that with the Atlas lock.

I didnt know about this collaboration untill you posted this. I hope Demko does way more collabs!!!! Awesome :)
That is one that is on my short list. I hope to get may hands on it. It would be my first shark Lock.

I RIT dyed my green micarta black..🤙
Very fancy🤯

Knowing it came from Taiwan makes it better especially at that price

Love hearing the positive shark lock feedback from the field! Interesting on the rust issues you’re seeing on the MSI liners.
@pocketpriorities it's light rust but rust none the less. I wonder if the after market world will make titanium liners for knives like these?
