    The trend is absolutely real. People are not probably ditching meat entirely but they are increasingly consuming plant-based alternatives. Meat sales are down 6% in the US for the last two years. Even meat eaters that I know how reduced their meat/dairy consumption. Whatever the vegan community is doing is working. Let's keep educating and increasing awareness. The more people know the sooner they adopt plant-based alternatives. We should focus on children as they are more mature than adults.

    • @Mistral434

      “We should focus on children”
      No, we should never interfere in the children of strangers. That is OFF LIMITS. That is how a cult operates. I refuse to indulge in such militant extremism. Target the adults. Lead by example, be the change you want to see, but you have to understand that you can’t save everyone. Always maintain your principles.

      The campaign against meat has been successful for 40 years, but there maybe a turn around coming soon with the growing popularity of low carb diets. Myself, have turned carnivore and the health benefits are real.

    • @MindVersusMisery
      @MindVersusMisery 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @@somethingelse9535 Low carb diets aren't a new thing. Atkins, south beach, LCHF, and now keto and carnivore are variants of the same basic thing with slightly different packaging.
      The claims that has been made for the utility of the carnivore diet are - at best - short term benefits for some autoimmune conditions we have yet to understand. But if it's at the expense of longterm health and longevity - which it by all probability is - then I don't see how it will stand the test of time nor reach mainstream success. And there simply is no good reason for the vast majority of people to fear fiber, legumes, veggies, fruit and whole grains.

      Are you sure your dog is thriving? I thought so also, when she had surgery (spay) they found internal fat. I went through several different options, yes one was calorie restriction. What worked was removing apples from her diet, and more animal protein, the eggs went back in. I cook for her, so I have total control of her diet, and I was truly amazed at how much difference making those two small changes did. The fat that I didn't realize was there melted away with increased calories and the same amount of exercise in a very short time. She is down to a svelte 74lbs, from 76lbs that I thought was perfect for her.
      I had already figured out that every other standard starch for dogs did not sit well with her digestion I thought the apples were working for her.

      @skincarerainbow4950 Mind your own business and read the rest of my messages. My dog would have been dead if I would have continued giving him meat. He was always sick. As soon as I stopped giving him meat, he recovered and is now 9 years thriving on a plantbased diet and very happy, fit and healthy. 14 in august. So don't talk about things you obviously know nothing about. Thanks!

    16 years ago I went from Keto to Vegan overnight because Dr McDougall said a plant based diet would help my 23 year old daughter who was being crippled and put in constant terrible pain by rheumatoid arthritis. In 3 days her pain was reduced 90%. In 30 days the joint deformation started reversing. In 60 days she was 98% pain free with beautiful joints, and getting off the immune system destroying poisonous drugs that only treated symptoms. I wonder, would a devoted meat eater change what they buy at the grocery store to save their child's life? Sadly most of the rabid meat eaters I know will defend their love of eating meat to the death. One mother who suffered from rheumatoid arthritis along with her teenage daughter, actually punished her daughter for not eating her hamburger after the teen learned about my daughter's result. So, these lab grown meats should probably have an important place in stores for the morons who won't eat something else to save their child's life. But, not in Florida or Alabama where they just passed laws making it illegal to sell lab grown meat. Imagine, 2 states full of morons. My brother lives in FL. Enough said.

    The big problem with Beyond and Impossible meat substitutes is they are not terribly healthy. Perhaps they are slightly healthier than actual meat, but the amount of saturated fat, sodium and highly processed ingredients should make them an occasional treat rather than a staple. On the other hand, meat substitutes made from mycelium and precision fermentation are much healthier and once they achieve sufficient volume they can be much cheaper than real meat and Beyond and Impossible meat substitutes .

      Beyond and Impossible meat can be for people who eat a lot of fast food and junk anyways. I've seen people who say they eat McDonalds or instant ramen daily for years. There's other healthier vegan meats too. I bet Impossible and Beyond will make healthier and more diverse options.
      Seiten and tempeh have two ingredients.
      There's many vegan recipe websites.
      I mix more plants into my vegan meats. Still has the meaty taste, makes it healthier, and it stretches out the amount of vegan meat I have.
      Many nonvegans eat a lot of junk but then pretend to care about health when it comes to vegan foods.

      Don't know where they're getting their "cheap meat" from. I can eat the equal amount of calories and nutrition each day from rice, beans veggies, fruit etc at 1/4 the cost of meat, and that's just the cheap, CAFO meats.

    The whole point of veganism is to stop the exploitation and abuse of animals. Even though I commend you on trying to do the best option this isn't it. I don't care if it's 30,000 animals no one deserves to be exploited or poked for human purposes.

      Yes, but much of the world is nonvegan and not everyone is going to go vegan, definitely not vegan overnight and we need solutions now, ASAP.

    I love how much the movement has kicked off and I am actually beginning to notice a change even in my small country that I would have thought would have a real problem adopting it, however I see so much misinformation and propaganda nowadays about how unhealthy and processed vegan food is compared to meat. There's even a majority of people in my country who still believe you cannot get all the dietary nutrients you need from a plant based diet. It really gets me heated up. I think that I may not have enough evidence or enough sources that they would trust to convince them.

    Great first episode! It was good to see how the alternatives were made but feels like there needs to be a direct counter argument to PB meat is processed (unhealthy) or make a comparison to conventional animal flesh.

    While I understand that people out there want a type of meat I still don't agree with this method at all. I am eating plant-based food only and I'm doing just fine so I don't know why someone needs to change it unless they're doing it just because of the meat eaters to make them stop killing the trillions of animals each year.

    • @chiyerano
      @chiyerano 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, they want to stop having billions of animals killed for human consumption every year and seeing as how many people in the world are nonvegan and omnivore, how do you propose we solve this problem?

    My family has a cattle ranch in central Texas. The mother cows are amazingly gentle creatures & very bonded to their babies & the herd. It's so incredibly sad when the truck comes to pick up the adolescent calves. The mommas look for them & bellow for 3-4 days, then give up.

    I want to say that I’m fully vegan, but can only say I’m plant based for now. When I’m at a coffee shop, I still ask for honey as a sugar replacement, but use maple organic maple syrup at home.
    And sometimes when I I’m at a restaurant, I’ll order something that I know isn’t vegan, E.g., I’ll never order something off the menu that has cheese, butter, eggs, milk, etc.! but I’m sure whatever it is that I order still isn’t 100% vegan.
    But at home, where I eat 90% of the time, yes, what I consume is 100% vegan.
    Unfortunately, I still eat sushi or fish at a restaurant, not because I crave eating dead seafood, it’s just because there is no other main course option that isn’t meat, or a pasta drowned in cheese, so I switch from ordering the most vegan-like option for a main dish, to the “healthier option” for my main dish entrée.

      The big meat companies will back it, they are protein suppliers not farmers, the customer wants the end result not the process and once they understand all the benefits well it becomes a simple algorithm.
