A truly deep and fervent supporter of King Arthur from the very start, Sir Bedivere never wained from that support. Bedivere was also one of the first knights to join the fellowship of the Round Table, and was by King Arthur’s side at his death/transport to the Isle of Avalon. Sir Bedivere also helped King Arthur fight the Giant of Mont St. Michel and later was made Duke of Neustria.
Sir Bedivere lost one of his hands in battle and spent the rest of his life fighting with only one hand. He had a son called Amren and a daughter named Eneuavc.
Sir Bedivere of Legend
Sir Bedivere was present at the Last Battle, that fateful Battle of Camlan between the forces of King Arthur and the evil forces of his nephew, Sir Mordred. Bedivere and Arthur alone survived the battle, and the King gave him the command to throw Excalibur back into the Lake. After lying twice to King Arthur, Bedivere finally tossed the precious sword out into the Lake, and the hand of the Lady of the Lake came up out of the water and retrieved the sword to its watery home.
Derived from the Welsh name Bedwyr, Bedivere was named after his grandfather, who was also known as Bedivere and founded the city of Bayeux. Years after the Final Battle, Sir Bedivere was killed fighting in the Roman Campaign.
According to History
It is believed that Bedivere originated from the Welsh tradition. Known in the early works as Bedwyr Bedrydant (“Bedwyr of the Perfect Sinews”), Bedivere was known as a handsome, strong knight who was fiercely loyal and strong in faith and courage. Bedivere’s father is mentioned as Pedrawd, and his children as Amhren and Eneuawg, who are both members of King Arthur’s court.
Bedwyr/Bedivere is a prominent character in the tale of Culhwch and Olwen, in which he appears as the head of King Arthur’s court with his friend Cei. He is described as the handsomest man in the world (except for King Arthur and Drych fab Cibddar) and uses a magic lance. In Geoffrey’s History of the Kings of Britain, Bedivere is one of Arthur’s most loyal allies and maintains that loyalty his entire life. Later on he helps King Arthur and Sir Kay fight the Giant of Mont Saint-Michel and then joins Arthur in his war against Emperor Lucius of Rome.

He’s genuinely my favourite from childhood and today. I admittedly watched Monty Python first at around 6 and was just drawn to Terry Jones but then my mum bought me children’s books on King Arthur and his Knights which only made me love him more!
I’ve heard him referred too as Bedwyr of the Perfect Sinew. I think it is probably the coolest title I’ve seen.

Man, Bedivere really sounded like an absolutely important and awesome character. Missed opportunity in Merlin to make him an interesting main character in Merlin, where they just killed him off like a faceless mook.
I never watched Merlin, but that is certainly a shame. Of course, the more you learn about Arthurian legend and Literature, the more this will be the case when compared to modern portrayals. A lot of important characters are totally sidelined for the benefit of a couple primary figures.
He really is awesome. If you go to Fate/GO, he gets a major role in one of the singularities in it (Camelot singularity)
Edit: not to mention I read Wikipedia, and in some cases, he dies offscreen or gets foreshadowed by Percival in the movie Excalibur (normally, Bedi would bring Excalibur to the lake, but Percival does instead)

in Bernard Cornwell's The Warlord Chronicles, many of his legendary deeds (such as throwing Excalibur into the lake; or in Cornwell's story, the sea) are carried out instead by the protagonist, Derfel Cadarn. Derfel too loses one of his hands and then fights one-armed during the final act of Excalibur: A Novel of Arthur (1997).

Bedivere isn't well known? How? He's the only one to really survive the entire mythology with Feirefiz. I thought Tristan and Feirefiz were the ones no one remembered.
Depends how into Arthurian Legend you are, most casual fans are not aware of most of what i would consider the "well known" knights of the round table. I would consider every knight i have made a video about so far to be prominent members.
When most people refer to stories about King Arthur, they are referring to Le Morte d’Athur, a French compilation of stories made in 1485. In that, Bedivere is barely mentioned at all, and in some translations is skipped entirely. My mother read me King Arthur stories when I was a child, but I didn’t realize until I grew up that it was Le Morte d’Arthur. I can remember Gawain, Galahad, and Lancelot, but Bedivere I don’t. That’s probably why few people know about him. The main source material for today’s readers largely omits him.

Arthur: The Giant of Mont St Michel (Dinabuc could be considered the same or different), Ritho (Orguillus could be considered the same or different), Ceimiad, Galapas, Knight-Giant, Redoubted Giant of the Sure Keep, probably the Giant of Mount Araby, Oyle and Pedolhaearn.
Tristan, Gawain and Garel (though Garel is much less famous) are also said killed many.
I am very interested in Arthurian Legend and I really enjoy these videos. And I learned some new things about Bedivere in this video.
I am glad you enjoy the videos. I guess i should have mentioned Arthur when it comes to giants, i know he kills them every other day, lol. Off hand, im not sure how many Gawain or Tristan have taken out. I might have to start a spreadsheet to try and rank them all by giant kills. That could be fun.
