    The simple fact that you made consistency across the range a priority is a major plus. I love gaming but don't want to have to roll dice to find out how much coverage each paint has.

    Have yall thought of making something like a vortex mixer. In the interest of reducing time needed shaking paints as they are so heavily pigmented when they separate it can cause someone to not use, or just hesitate to use, it rather than shake it to the point of making it viable again.

    • @aonline_abridged
      @aonline_abridged 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      +1, I would buy this as well, my Robart is so loud and it walks. The Vortex mixers are too $$ for me to upgrade but maybe AP can make a slightly more affordable version.

    • @dfwdweghom8902

      @@aonline_abridged definitely. I have one of the $100 ones from amazon and I love it. I'd like a second one but the convenience of one at my main desk and another at my spray booth doesn't out weight the cost. Plus I am starting to really like the AP product line, got the middle tier box of warpaint air and love it. The metallics are quite nice.

      I have a vortex and the the Robart. I never use either of them, what I use is tamiya stirring sticks. I use a peice of tissue to pull out the nozzle and then stir them with the wide blade end of the stick, this works much better, faster and cheaper than any other solution I've ever tried.

    • @dfwdweghom8902
      @dfwdweghom8902 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@ste022 Good on ya if that works for you. Most paints I've used are ready from the vortex in the time it takes me to safely get the nozzle off the bottle with tissue.

    Mixed feelings about the paint. I don't hate it, but I don't love it. What I found it works great on is terrain. I could also see new and/or less skilled painters (some people hate it I hear) getting a lot of use out of it as well because it DOES work as advertised... its VERY weird and unpredictable to paint over so far.

  • @Phsstpok
    @Phsstpok 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have experience with Citadel's contrast paints only and I will certainly try AP's speed paints but I guess from the look here I will have the same issue with them as with contrast paints: The results are way to exaggareted in terms of saturation and brightness - at least for my taste. Maybe it is just the studio lights, but with contrasts I always had to add a dry brush with some muted tone of the model (grey or brown) to tone it down. This makes it again an at least 2-step-process all-in-all so not much of a decreased time and effort. But certainly another nice tool to utilize.

    @ex-voto ปีที่แล้ว

    This paint is ideal if your painting ability is 4/10 or less. For anyone 5/10 or higher you can do a better job with standard warpaints & patience.
    You can see the result at the end of this video 12:15 Those highlights are just barely tinted primer & you can tell.
    If you need to splash some paint on minis for a wargame, great!
    If you want an artistic result, just use normal paints.

    I could not recommend speedpaints enough for terrain and large batch painting, but with smaller minis (such as my tau) you either want to invest in more of their range beyond the starter set or go over with a acrylic, the drying time seems to be a bit high but overall they are really great

    Good paint but limited colors if you don't concentrate on fantasy or science fiction. Gray/Green color for Italians? German 1943 base yellow-green? The sand color appears closer to wet sand than dry sand and there are at least three sand shades. Speedpaint doesn't appear to be any of those.
    And we who base coat in black...?

    • @TheArmyPainter
      @TheArmyPainter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You certainly wouldn't want to basecoat in black unless you plan to drybrush or airbrush a highlight first. It's just not intended to be painted over black. It's a completely new way of painting. And, yes, for now, the range is focused on our top selling colour categories as the majority of our customers come from the Sci-Fi, Fantasy and RPG world. However, we did add in a couple colours that are versatile enough, especially when used in combination with the Speedpaint Medium, for historical.

    I know, I know, huge company, but it's a bit charming how they don't edit out their production errors and talk over their airbrush usage. It's clear AP isn't actually that used to the youtube mini painting scene hahaha

    Your new paints sound fantastic for a newbie like me. What primer did you use for the space marine before applying dry brush? Thanks!

    14 years? Wow I feel old now I remember when the quickshade came out. Very excited about these new speed paints though.

    interesting product, results could be mixed, but with right application you could make some supremely good stuff, i'd want to see what orange looks like on white primer as i wanted to try some orange models.

      Holy White is a light grey, but when painted over a white undercoat it gives you appropriate shading for a white colour, leaving the upper surfaces and edges white.

    Did I miss an Estimated release date for this product? I have seen the Air spray box in the New Releases, but haven't seen word on these new paints.
