I just got my scores back for the Praxis and I got a 179! I took all of your advice and this made me feel so much better about the test. I even bought the book you talked about. Thank you so much Liz! I did Liz Laugh Read my way through that test.
Hello, I need to take the Praxis world language French. I'm not American and live out of U.S. There are some Prometric centers where I live but they don't deliver the French subject according to ETS search page. However, it's available online but is it required to be in the U.S or Canada to take praxis online at home?
Liz, thank you so much for your video! Not only is your video motivational, your honesty is clear and appreciated. I was able to create a study plan that I did not previously think of until I chose to view your video. Thank you again! I am planning on studying this month and schedule to test next month. All the best!
Thank you! This is honestly the best video on the Praxsis 5038. I just finished taking the test and got a raw score of 185. For those wondering the practice tests on the ets website are considerably harder than the actual test, but the actual test is not easy. There are a few questions about authors and titles that are quite obscure. Even after I studied them in depth I still struggled, but there are not many of these questions compared to other types on the test. Same thing with poems there was less context of poems than I predicted. You will be asked a considerable number of questions about what teaching strategies are most appropriate for a given situation, and I would familiarize myself with those.
@@MissHopeLeaves I used the list of authors in the red study guide book that she showed, but in my opinion it was not a very good guide. First of all it's very long and most of it was not on my test, and even authors that I did study wouldn't paired with works that were not listed in the red guide. There are only a few questions I would say two or three that ask point blank for you to match an author to a work. I went through the list and watched youtube videos that summed up the plot, themes, and analysis of the works I was unfamiliar with, which was a huge undertaking considering that there was apracimenty 60-70 works it was not worth it. There are far more questions that ask you to read an excerpt from a famous author that uses difficult language and then asks you a question to test comprehension, or about its genre or use how it uses its language. Knowledge about general comprehension, figurative language, context, genre, tone, and style was the majority of the reading section, but just as a disclaimer I read a lot of classic literature and actually go see a lot of live theater, so I was already familiar with about 1/4 of works on the recommended list, and might not remember some of the questions if I didn't have to think about them too hard, but still remember there being a lot. remember that the reading section is only 1/3 of the test as well, the other sections are grammar and writing. The writing section with where you get a lot of questions about teaching strategies. There are a few questions about teaching students that have english as a second language, and while you can answer these by making a good judgement call on what's appropriate, be aware so you don't get blindsided. Also as far as teaching strategies that i've mentioned, you can deduce most of them by picking what seems like the appropriate actions, but it's good to some specific terms: KWL Chart - Know, Want to Know, Learned chart used in prewriting. Jigsaw Method - Breaking kids into groups and assigning them different parts of a lessons, and then having them share. Reciprocal Learning - Having kids pair up and coach each other. Writing Workshop - teaching the lesson, having them work individually on writing, then sharing as a class. Writing process = Prewriting, writing, revising, edieting, presenting. accountability - how do you encourage students to follow through with work. discipline based inquiry - having students do work based on their interests, or directly practical to them.
Thank you for sharing this. I agree the real test is more difficult I have failed it for the fourth or fifth time. If it is possible can you please share your multiple choice test strategies that helped you score a 185. It sucks when you fail and they only let you know what percentage you got right not the actual questions so you know where you are struggling. I am desperate at this point.
Thank you so much for making this video! I need to take the Praxis in about a month to be able to continue with my masters program, and this made me feel so much better about everything. Especially the fact that you only studied for 4 days and did so well!
I just took the MTTC (MI) Secondary English today for the second time and failed… I heard the praxis 5038 is very similar to it! So, I’m hoping I could use this information to help prepare.
I finally passed my PRAXIS exam after all the stress.I thank God for the great opportunity and my tutor Thomas 🎊🎊🎉🎉 All my prayers to God those struggling to pass through PRAXIS cause it hasn't been easy.I hope y'all make it some day too Amen 🙏
I have a cousin who never studied much,we studied together but she gives most of her time to her phone than studies after writing PRAXIS, she passed and I failed😣, I asked her how she did it, just found out she got her help from Mr Thomas ..
honestly, most of them just covered authors rather than actual content on my exam at least. if you have a general idea of classic literature and who wrote what, you'll be fine!
Hi... How are you doing? I just took my Praxis today and my reported score was 157. Was that the final actual score reported to the receiving institution or is it going to have changes?
You should put what test you did in the title. I’m taking the core reading, writing, and math. Yes there are two essays. We have to paraphrase and cite APA.
I just graduated with my degree in Theatre Education but want to take the English Certification to compliment it. Do you think I can pass it having majored in something else?
@@gatitasheisa I’m here to tell you. I bout this book and took the test yesterday. I read the source cover to cover twice. The content in the book isn’t the same as actual test. I was close but I have to take it again
Thanks, Liz. This helped tremendously. I'm still nervous but after watching your video, I feel like I have a better idea of what to expect. Did you start teaching yet? I looked for you on IG, but didn't see your account.

A very useful comment. Thank you.
What resources did you use to review American, British and World literature?

hi! yes, they did. they let me use a mirror instead of my phone and then watched me as i placed my phone in view on a table behind me.
ETS is the best to study from. Nothing else.. It makes perfect sense to study from the actual makers of the test..

Passing the PRAXIS is when you study hard,if you can't study or you don't have time for your studies I'd advise you get yourself help like Mr Thomas
I had interest in working with him but I was discouraged by my friends out of ignorance 😔
