After a brief return home to the UK from my 6-week backpacking trip around Europe, I'm off again ✈️ This time, to Toronto, Canada, my first ever time ever in the country 🇨🇦 Two of my friends Courtney and Jamie (from my New Zealand working holiday visa nearly SIX years ago) are getting married and so the whole NZ crew are back together to take Toronto by storm.

Is travelling solo safe? - I would argue the answer is almost always yes! As long as you use your common sense and you follow your own government's guidelines about travelling in that country. I have made several videos on backpacking safety on my channel.
Do you have plans to settle down? Yes, I'm currently saving to purchase my first property in the UK and I'd love to have children one day. I doubt I'll ever live a completely 'conventional' lifestyle by society's standards though, as I often have my own preferred way of doing things.

On the off chance you're sticking around in Toronto, I'd highly recommend taking the ferry out to the Toronto Islands for a day, either walk around or rent a bike. Stunning views of the skyline, but you feel out in the countryside. St. Lawrence Market has a nice vibe, and one block over from the market is the Gooderham Building - wouldn't suggest going to it for it alone, but if you're at the market, it's worth it for the photo) I would have suggested Kensington Market, but given that you ate at Film Cafe, you've obviously already found that! I used to love whiling away hours in the Distillery District on weekends, all indie businesses, very artsy vibe.

Just finished a year working in Canada! It’s my favourite country I’ve ever been to! If you get the chance, head to Quebec City, or do the rockies in the west and Vancouver!! I fell in love with Canada this year 🍁

welcome to Canada! Im actually in Ontario about 45 minutes south west of toronto, so glad you are in our wonderful country! i've done the Canada/London trip about 10 times now, this brought back memories lol.

Hopefully, you get a chance to try some of the amazing restaurants in Toronto. Toronto has many great options besides the traditional Canadian traditional dishes. I recommend Pai Northern Tai restaurant or Byblos Turkish restaurant as a few options. There are several wineries outside of the Toronto GTA area. The ROM (Royal Ontario Museum) is one of the best museums in Canada. For live music, the Reservoir Lounge in downtown is a great place to visit as well. Hope you have fun!

About the flight north vs on the parallel, the reason is that contrary to popular belief the Earth is not a perfect sphere, like an orange, it is actually an ellipsoid, squashed at its poles and swollen at the equator, like a clementine. That is why it is a shorter distance to go north vs following the parallel.

the globe shape really makes air travel weird! you can fly over the whole of Atlantic in like 7 hours and it takes almost 3 hours to fly from Bali to Singapore which are seemingly very close to each other if you look on the map

Hiii! I’m on a 3 week backpacking trip in Ontario and Quebec right now! Honestly three to four days in Toronto is enough to see it al.. apt. 200 was nice for going out for drinks. I would highly recommend visiting Quebec (1 hour by plane), it has a lot of history and is so beautiful! We took WAY more pictures in Quebec than in Toronto and overal had a better time there :)

I stayed in Canada when my dad worked there but sadly I can't really remember it as I was only 2. I should go back. Also flying off soon to a wedding but closer to home in Ireland. Hope you has a great trip.

The only place you can find REAL poutine is in the province of Québec. In Ontario they do not have the real ''squishi'' cheese curds. Hope you enjoyed you trip anyway ✌️

Canada is an interesting place, eh. I've been a few times and always enjoyed the area and the people are super friendly. Time to geek out: the flight path was called great circle navigation. The shortest distance between two points on a globe is a great circle. Long flights are navigated using that method. ok, geek time over... Can't wait to see the rest eh!

( to be fair Toronto does have a better city /art/music scene vibe- but for pure natural beauty Vancouver and all of British Columbia can't be beat! You'd love it here! Also, hope your flight was ok! I"m actually a Vancouver based flight attendant with Air Transat (: Really happy to see you flying us! Just to clarify- we have no affiliations with Air Canada. We are Vacation/ Family airline, with flight attendant crew bases in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal (another amazing Canadian city- highly recommend). Air Canada is more of a business airline with their own smaller vacation wing. I personally think we are the BEST (Transat) . Also maybe on your flight vlog back you can clarify that the meals on our International flights to Europe+ UK , are complimentary (as well as a glass of wine or a beer)..
