Yes sir I have never seen a player regress as much as he has in just a years time. He is also alot heavier than he was last season and that's not helping any either
In my opinion Jones elbow issue is giving his more problems than we are all lead on to believe. If he's being limited into using that injured arm that could be the main reason he has been struggling.
I agree 100%...I watched him in slow motion try to block a player with 1 hand with that other arm bent in that brace...he's hurt and there's nobody healthy enough to replace him
People are overly critical of Jones. He’s not been good but he’s been dependable this year despite playing through injury. He’s made some strides . People forget that he very young and raw. Played his best ball on the left side in college. He will develop if people don’t give him the Dotson treatment and run him out of town. I remember a lot of people on these boards saying 65 would never be squat at Left Tackle. He’s been a rock this year. Show some patience people. Dudes growing . He’s got a good attitude . Needs time.
Broderick's struggles have nothing to do with an injury. He was having trouble in pass protection last season, before any injury. His footwork is bad, and he's not instinctive on the right side. He's out of position in pass protection most of the time. I'm not critical of Broderick, because he shouldn't be on the right side. Develop him on the left and you will see a completely different player.
@@Zinter1984 Last season's version of Jones got exposed in the last few games of the season (including the playoff game). Once defenses figured him out he was easily beaten in pass protection. That carried over to this year, and is not going to change. That's because he's not a natural RT. He belongs on the left side.
All the Steelers fans wanted to kill Dan Moore. People need to relax. It takes some time. As for Diontae Johnson, it should tell you about DJ and how he is viewed around the league. Its not hard to understand.
*I agree about Dan Moore but totally disagree about Diontae. The dude is a damn good WR. I mean look at what Cooper went for. Truth is the media guys are not very consistent or accurate when speaking about the Organizational Front Office's. And the ppl in the front office keep all that stuff in house. But yeah man, Diontae was very underrated and underappreciated. The dude is one of best route runners but was also a All-Pro Returner. Think one year he led league in WR Broken Tackles and was Top5 YAC another year. Diontae is dangerous with ball in hands. The thing with Diontae is he followed AB. That was the main problem. The shoes he had to fill and he was the specific player chosen to fill that role. And nobody is AB. But Diontae is one the best WR's to ever play in the Burgh*
Last season everybody was loving the play from Roderick but this season everybody forget that some players go through a sophomore slump plus he's been hurt since preseason and there's nobody to replace him so he can get healthy
Broderick Jones needs to be developed on the LEFT SIDE in the offseason. He is not a RT. Right Tackle should be a priority along with WR2 before the trade deadline. Broderick is not even an adequate back-up on the right side. It has nothing to do with an injury.
You are right about Jones being raw when he was drafted. As a prospect Jones had high end talent but the consensus of many scouts was that it was going to take 2 years of development before he could be a good starting tackle. We are only 1 1/2 years into it. Look how long Dan Moore took to develop and now he is playing solid proving it was worth the wait. The Steelers don’t really have any options other than to play Jones the rest of the year. If Broderick continues to struggle the Steelers might be best off re-signing Dan Moore of transition tag him. If Broderick can’t get it together at tackle next year, might have to salvage him by putting him at starting guard in 2026 to replace Seumaulu.
Thank you Matt. When it comes to Broderick whatever the problem is, moving left to right, he still needs to do his very best, for every reason. Lets see if they get a wide receiver. Bye week some players coming back healthy. time to rest. Great show Matt.
I don't think the Steelers necessarily need another receiver. Austin has been an untapped gem that has been on the roster this whole time. The Steelers are loaded with talent. They just need to scheme up their usage better. Heyward is untapped. Freiermuth remains untapped. Washington remains untapped. They already have the peices they need to be successful. The Ravens are responding do to fear of the Steelers.
Unless there were other options but Dionte chose Baltimore to have a chance to stick it to Pittsburgh. The Steelers have no moral compass. Dionte is seeking revenge.
It's unfortunate that Troy got hurt, but I don't like people going on his Twitter/X and telling him that Broderick sucks and he needs to hurry back. How do you think that makes Troy feel by telling him that? All that does is add more unnecessary pressure on a rookie because now he is going to be thinking "What happens if I make mistakes, or have a bad game? Are they just going to run to the next guy and on Twitter and talk sh*t about me?" I don't think fans really think about some of the stuff they say directly to players and how it can affect them, they are just too emotionally compromised and just say what they think sounds good.
i will give jones time to develop because man he can make some big plays. he is hulking out there bigger than every other lineman in the field most plays just needs to focus on
Time to sit Jones for a few games and let him think about things. His overall effort is clearly lacking and his head is anywhere else but his job. I know being on the right side isnt his preference but with Troy out there wasnt really another option.
Chill. He is playing out of position cause Dan Moore has been a stud. If he was on the left he would be doing much better. Now he is in his own head. He had a great freshman year and this is his sophomore slump. He will pick it up. Has a great attitude and work ethic
@@NoThanks652bullshit. He came in last year and made the offense. The run game instantly jumped 60 yards and gave Mason the pocket passer time to throw.
Question: could he perform better at guard? This RT project is NOT working and it is sad. Injured elbow or not, he is grabbing defenders when the QB is already out of harms way. He should try wearing boxing gloves to cut down on holds.
Bring AB back until the end of the season. You know he would come and I think he’s still in shape. I think he would behave too. Just him being out there running routes would garner a double team and free up George Pickens. And he has spoken out that he wants to end his career as a Steeler. Who’s on board with this?
The idea that Jones's problems will go away when he moves to the other side is ridiculous. He doesn't want to learn the techniques and put in the effort to become an all star lineman, which he could achieve if he wanted it as badly as the fans do.
Jacoby Myers, you mentioned a slot. Well, Russ doesn't throw to the middle of the field, right? Sooo why do we get him? Just to pretend Russ is going to the middle slot? Well, we got all these WR nobodies for that, right ?
It's not me it's you... Then why does every player on the o line that leaves or gets traded by the Steelers go on to be a starter, or highest paid guard, in the league. Pat Meyers is suspect
I think Brodrick Jones is the worst tackle in our division. Constant missed blocks... Missed assignments... Untimely penalties. Good build but doesn't look strong. I don't like it
Diontae Johnson is so overrated by the media and fans. The Panthers got exactly what he's worth with NFL GMs. I know it's news, but I couldn't care less. 🤷🏿♂️
Jones looks like a completely different dude this year. At times he appears to be a guy that just doesn’t like playing football.
Yep, sometimes when his man beats him he just stands there froze.
Yes sir I have never seen a player regress as much as he has in just a years time. He is also alot heavier than he was last season and that's not helping any either
Damn crazy evaluation...but u might be right
I thought the same thing, looks like he doesn’t like to play

Watch his initial contact. He gets a good push and extends his arms but can’t get his hands on them after that. They’re just running around him.
Would love to have Jakobi Myers, very underrated dude.
Remember you guys said this crap!….give Jones a chance! He will be a long time Steeler
Dionte is toxic. He will bitch about everything except his lack of effort and shit performance that hurts the team.

Its effort. He gives up on plays and will stop playing when he gets beat.
@@samadams4165 He's playing on the wrong side. The coaches don't tolerate lack of effort.
The problem with Jones is he's regressed. He played nothing but RT last year and was much better, I'd settle for that version of him.

Mike Williams with the Jets, we were interested before the season. I believe it was Calvin Anderson gave up the sack against NY not Spencer.

King Rodgers would not allow Adams to be traded.
Dionte asked for a trade to get out of Pittsburgh. Not because of his attitude despite fans not liking him.

What's a "10 pick" swap?
How much of the salary cap do the Ravens take for snagging Johnson. As well as the remaining contract.
Omar needs to get off his ass for a WR. He caused the problem.

For the mailbag: How many wins per season is TJ worth? If QBs are 8-10 I think he’s at least 3-4
4-5
Steelers are 75-35-2 when Watt plays and
1-10 when he doesn’t

I feel Jones is auditioning these last 9 games left in the season.

Maybe put Jones back in the position that he’s comfortable and played most of his career instead of trying to put a square peg in a round hole

Is he playing worse than D Moore did his first 2 yrs?
