One thing that's encouraging is looking at the other linemen in these few clips against the Texans and Bills. They seem to be doing well both in holding up their blocks and handling stunts and games. A lot of things can work out better if Dan Moore Jr. can play as the guy we expected him to be a year ago, and if Frazier gives us high quality center play. Alex's subtext is that we know Jones can be better because he was better last year. He just needs to heal up or sub out until he arm is right.
He looks soft to me. Lots of images & video of him in Latrobe w/o his shirt on. Doesn’t seem like he attacked the offseason like Moore has, or Dotson had previously, for example. Duke M-weather has also said some things about his technique that seemed to imply Broderick might not be fully bought into Meyer’s coaching. I think Broderick may be coasting on his (considerable) talent
Is there something wrong with his right knee? He's not stepping back firmly on it. He's not stepping out and putting weight on it. I don't know, I would be misreading this entirely.
What I can't tell is whether it's an injury or the footwork issue he had. That showed up as a lunge. He's very upright and very tentative in his stance
That's what happens when you have to reverse your footwork. He's a natural LT. Not to mention they are now moving him back and forth (RT and LT). They think Broderick is a machine that they can move around at will, and they are mistaken. Humans work on muscle memory, and the coaches are destroying him. You have to put a player where he is most natural and effective and keep him there so he can develop properly, and reach his ceiling.
That move in the first series is called an arm drag. Standard wrestling move to get behind or pull your opponent off balance. Even if the brace isn't there you grab the back of the elbow to pull the arm through. The brace just makes it way easier. Hopefully he can heal up or adjust to the limitations because we need better than what we saw.

You have 32 teams with a system that disperses talent to the lower teams, and a salary cap. The most influential factor of success has been shown time and time again to be coaching. This isn’t a rant to slam Tomlin, but I’m just talking about results. Our position coaches often don’t seem to be doing the job. (I’m remembering the almost immediately decline after Munchak left.) It took forever to ditch a woefully underperforming offensive coordinator. Our defense has been vulnerable to big plays (at terrible times) since LeBeau left. Our secondary has looked confused for about 10 years. And for some reason the team has been injury prone for a while now.
Your opening sentence shows the problem: The Steelers haven’t been a “lower” team since the early 90’s so we never benefit from a high draft pick. But I personally would rather have a team that’s always above average than one that cycles between good and bad. Plus, the Steelers are family which means they stay loyal to veterans; which is great for morale but not great for salary cap. I mean, I liked watching Ben play and was hoping he’d get one last ring, but…almost every other team would have dumped him like the Pats did with Brady and the Colts did with Manning. There are pros/cons to every decision. As for the defense, I don’t understand what Steelers team you’re referring to. I think our defense is the best in the NFL, once you factor in how terrible the offense has been; making the defense work twice as hard to drag us to victory. And I didn’t see us giving up lots of big plays last year. We were giving teams short to mid level plays, just to get a big turnover or sack when we needed it. But there’s only so much a defense can do when the offense keeps going three and out.

Why are the splits so small? Pee wee football coaches could teach better than this.
He’s waiting to get hit.
It is NOT Pat Meyer lol! If it is, why didn't Dan Moore look that bad? Or Fraizer? Or any other rookie lineman we've started this preseason lol? Stop blaming everybody but the mfs that are at fault smh..
Looks like Q ran into at least one of those.
Wasted draft pick. It's time to cut him from the roster
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Jones has an injury, Alex you should know putting it on anything else is poor on your part bro
Just preseason doesn't matter
LOL yes it does. W's and L's don't matter. Your 1st round tackled getting manhandled is concerning and I don't care what side he's playing. This isn't good
It’s preseason for the other team too.
“whats wrong” he had a bad game there’s really nothing more to it😭 shit happens
and injuried
