      It’s obvious the brace is an issue and the arm is hurt and not as strong. And the Defender is using it as a tool. More off-season training in hand fighting Jujitsu. Come in ready learn how to invest that money into your body. Eating is good but coming back in better shape helps too.

    One thing that's encouraging is looking at the other linemen in these few clips against the Texans and Bills. They seem to be doing well both in holding up their blocks and handling stunts and games. A lot of things can work out better if Dan Moore Jr. can play as the guy we expected him to be a year ago, and if Frazier gives us high quality center play. Alex's subtext is that we know Jones can be better because he was better last year. He just needs to heal up or sub out until he arm is right.

      That's what happens when you have to reverse your footwork. He's a natural LT. Not to mention they are now moving him back and forth (RT and LT). They think Broderick is a machine that they can move around at will, and they are mistaken. Humans work on muscle memory, and the coaches are destroying him. You have to put a player where he is most natural and effective and keep him there so he can develop properly, and reach his ceiling.

    That move in the first series is called an arm drag. Standard wrestling move to get behind or pull your opponent off balance. Even if the brace isn't there you grab the back of the elbow to pull the arm through. The brace just makes it way easier. Hopefully he can heal up or adjust to the limitations because we need better than what we saw.

    You have 32 teams with a system that disperses talent to the lower teams, and a salary cap. The most influential factor of success has been shown time and time again to be coaching. This isn’t a rant to slam Tomlin, but I’m just talking about results. Our position coaches often don’t seem to be doing the job. (I’m remembering the almost immediately decline after Munchak left.)
    It took forever to ditch a woefully underperforming offensive coordinator.
    Our defense has been vulnerable to big plays (at terrible times) since LeBeau left. Our secondary has looked confused for about 10 years.
    And for some reason the team has been injury prone for a while now.

    • @DoctorBiobrain
      @DoctorBiobrain 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Your opening sentence shows the problem: The Steelers haven’t been a “lower” team since the early 90’s so we never benefit from a high draft pick. But I personally would rather have a team that’s always above average than one that cycles between good and bad.
      Plus, the Steelers are family which means they stay loyal to veterans; which is great for morale but not great for salary cap. I mean, I liked watching Ben play and was hoping he’d get one last ring, but…almost every other team would have dumped him like the Pats did with Brady and the Colts did with Manning. There are pros/cons to every decision.
      As for the defense, I don’t understand what Steelers team you’re referring to. I think our defense is the best in the NFL, once you factor in how terrible the offense has been; making the defense work twice as hard to drag us to victory. And I didn’t see us giving up lots of big plays last year. We were giving teams short to mid level plays, just to get a big turnover or sack when we needed it. But there’s only so much a defense can do when the offense keeps going three and out.

    He's also off balance. His stance has him too upright which leads to getting knocked backwards. This was noted when we drafted him and the film of him at Georgia showed this as one of his weaknesses. Fortunately, it also showed how quickly he recovered from his (at times) poor footwork after the snap. It looks like he's having a hard time breaking old habits. In college, he might have gotten away with initial poor footwork at the snap by quickly recovering, but the NFL is much faster with far more talented defensive players who are too fast and will make you pay, or more precisely, your QB pay for the poor footwork. This MUST get fixed ASAP!!!

    If hurt, and Jones clearly said he had to go see the doctor and could not talk to reporters, he should have never been in the game! Right and Left Tackle are two different positions. Two different ways of moving with the snap. He's supposed to start at Left, not Right. That elbow brace and weakness there, clearly inhibits him. Especially if this requires different punch movement with that braced arm.
    Why wasn't Cook in there instead? He needs the snaps and is supposed to be the swing tackle. Something is really wrong here, and it's not Jones. It's Meyer. For putting his starting Left Tackle at right. Especially if he's hurt. Where he shouldn't be playing in the first place!

    Jones needs to stay at rt sorry but until he cleans this up he a bigger liability than troy or dan at lt. Any coach would see this and pretty much come to the same determination. With the tape so far it insane people want him at lt which is the most important postion on the oline.

    So he has already given up more pressures and sacks in 2 preseason games than last year in 8 games. Bench him period. He will get our QB killed. Get him healthy now dont try and wait.
