We would ask those of you who want a more interactive version of the city model to be patient. From the beginning of the project in the mid 1990s, we have shared the same goal and are working hard to achieve it. Please stay tuned for exciting news about this a bit later in 2016!

Biggest city in the western world until London during the Industrial Revolution and the biggest city the world had ever seen until it was supposedly equaled by Chang'an in China in 700.. But that assumes the 1 million population number. If Rome actually had 2 million residents, it remained the biggest city that the world had EVER seen until the 1840-1850 when London topped 2 million!!!! London passed Beijing in the late 1820's and had grown to almost 2 million by 1840. It reminded the biggest city of the world until it was passed by the New York metro area in 1925.

One of the reason I like watching all these Roman rebuilds is to see how advanced they were in their city's BUT also how quickly it was over for them. It reminds me though WE think we will be here forever with our tech . WE maybe fooling ourselves !!! someone in a few thousand years could be watching videos about US! And each society has it's sickness of their culture that was NOT seen that way at the time. But not looked at with admiration by later cultures.

Countless angry galls, goths, and regular citizens, as well as damaged roads, city structures, and aqueducts. Rome fell because the rich were not maintaining it. Computers were out after endless gallic wars.

Architecture that doesn't reduce but ennobles us.
They achieved this with being right at the limit of human vision, deriving from the human form, it's proportions and limitations.

Amazing video, It gives us an idea of how great Rome was. Nonetheless, if would be better if the video was longer to have a better idea of the historial, cultural and economic context of each of the main buildings.
I think that the amphitheater near the tiber (look at the minute 0:54) was planned by Julius Ceaser and build and developed by Augustus Ceasar and was name "Theatre of Marcellus" in honor of Marcellus, the dead (murdered by Livia), nephew of Augustus. Please correct if I am wrong.
And in the case of the Flavian Amphitheater was planned by Vespasian (died in 79 AD) but was during the reign of Titus that was officially opened in 80 AD. And also the emperor Domitian contributed to the Flavian Amphitheater adding a fourth plant and a complex network of subterranean tunnels, which included chambers and elevators, a connection to the complex sewerage system, et cetera. Please correct me if I am wrong.

When you edit the closed captioning, can you make sure it's the Mall in Washington, not the wall in Washington?
