looked like an absolute blast out there!! those hill climbs looked sweet 🤘🏻
Yes it was a great time. It still blows me away what these little mini bikes will do!
What was the first chain fix? My first thought was that he didn't pre stretch the chain before this ride and it would need adjusted after the chain was put back on if you had the tools to do it. I won't do a ride trip until I get three or four adjustments on a new chain.
I do about 4 mile maximum round trip rides. And use my wife as a backup to bring tools, parts, and fuel if needed. I'm too old to be pushing a minbike all over the countryside.
The first fix was just as we left the truck. It just popped off. this chain has many miles on it. He has always had issues with the chain running that torque converter. We swapped it back to a jack-shaft and have had no more chain issues. When he bought this bike we had a bunch to fix but never could get the chain tension issue with the torque converter addressed properly, it was better but not perfect. We also have started to take a few more tools with us and always the tow strap. We do get out there a ways to explore and always have had one bike to save us! Usually it was his bike and the chain issue. MIne I have only had that nail in the tire. The plug is still in it and it does not leak any air. They sure are a blast to ride and it just amazes me where these little bikes can go!
Thank you for watching!
@@slugmtb sounds like a misalignment possibly the engine was at a bit of an angle to the frame/rear sprocket
I really like the video
Thank you!
I found that swapping a 224cc engine and torque converter made a HUGE difference
Yes for sure! Even the 224 was a huge difference. Way more climbing power.
@slugmtb egg Zachary, I'm not a small guy but it made a big difference.
Guys do yourself a favor put a torque converter on them bikes instead of that puny centrifugal clutch on there the bike will be like a race bike compared to running it with a centrifugal clutch believe me you’ll be happy😂😂great video I love mini bike riding a have 3 Coleman all with torque converters and performance parts on the motors makes a world of difference
Man, ive been thinking about doing it with my coleman bt200x. I just put a mikuni clone on it and it's way better so far. Next ill get an exhaust so it quits burning my fender
Yeah torque converter and a 60 tooth is the way to go on these.
Do you need a spark arrestor to ride these bikes on the parks??
In my area I believe you do need a spark arrestor. The mufflers we have on them have them. Just to be safe.
Check for a bent chain they’ll keep falling off or super loose anything and everything has happened to me out riding bikes I don’t have that problem no more got everything down to a science now I can drive 10 miles in the woods not worry about no breakdowns and I carry every tool and chain and everything for that bike even to repair flat tires
How did it handle the bumps? Do you wish you had a rear suspension?
Rear suspension would be nice but it rides actually fairly well without it. Adding rear suspension would make the longer rides much more comfortable for sure. Still a great little machine to rip around on.
Where are you riding at? I just returned recently from AZ where I rockhound in the Parker/Quartzsite area. Bought a Trailmaster MB-200 and took it out there and had a blast.
This is out in the west desert of Utah, close to Delle. That sounds like a lot of fun out in AZ. How is that trail master?
@@slugmtb Couldn't be happier with it. It handled the rugged terrain like a champ and had no problem climbing uphill terrain. I purchased it about 10 days before leaving for AZ and had ordered a 60t sprocket to replace the 46t it came with, but wanted to see how it would do as is. I was impressed by how well it performed completely stock. I had been researching for over a year, trying to decide what minibike I should go with and decided the Trailmaster was well worth the extra money. I really enjoyed your video. I took my GoPro out there, but didn't end up using it, as I didn't want to waste any time messing with that. Lol
Yes that trail master is a great machine. Did you have an issues not having it registered? I have been trying to work with Coleman on getting the origin paperwork for mine but we also have one bought on marketplace. Trying to find any info from the state on if or if not they need to be registered is impossible. How many miles did you end up riding?
@@slugmtb I got it strictly for trails, so don't need to register it. That's only if you want to make it street legal, as far as I know. Probably put around 50 miles on it while in AZ. I spend a lot of time hiking and rockhounding, too.
Sweet vid. Where'd u get those green plastics from?
Been looking to upgrade from the steelies
Hey thanks Jay! The plastic came with this mini bike. They have an orange one as well. Not sure if you can get them separately. I would check Amazon and a few of the mini bike, parts suppliers. I’m sure someone has them for sale.
I have that same bike but red fenders. They made several different versions. Cool looking design.
Nice vid! Are the bikes converted to a straight chain or the stock set up? Please let me know I just bought mine
Thank you! We have both. One is stock and the other one has a torque converter on it. They both have advantages. I run the stock setup. I like that there is no delay when you hit throttle. The torque converter does help on the climbs but so far we have been able to do the same climbs. Might be worth it to try both and see which works best for you. Removing the governor will be a huge help. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.
Looking for a good GoPro set up. Is that a chest mount?
Yes it is. I have been using it for years and it work’s awesome.
@@slugmtb awesome thank you. My last video sucked. Cuz the helmet mount was not lined up. My next one should definitely be better
You are welcome! Good luck. Took me a bit to find the best angle. Once I did I marked it so it goes in the same spot every time.
@@JGsgarage_unboxings I use a side mount that goes to a chin position,
What protaper handlebars are on the Coleman bt200x please ?
These are the Raptor SE, Pro Taper bars in 7/8". They are great bars and give it a better ride and better control. They were about $70 at the parts store. A much needed upgrade over the stock bars.
Thanks for watching!
@@slugmtb thank you so much.
@@slugmtb Thinking about getting them, are they higher than the other handle bars thanks.
The Pro Taper bars are about a 1/2" taller. The big difference is in the width. They are much wider and I feel they give it a better ride. Everyone who gets on it makes the comment that it feels much better with the Pro Taper bars on it. I would do it again for sure!
@@slugmtb thanks so much for all you're help.
Can you take your green coleman mini bike ( I think the bt200x) on a trail in the woods
Ya they can ride in the woods just as good as out on the desert. I am planning to do that this next summer. Our mountains are full of snow right now. I will make a woods video next summer for sure. We might also do a overnight camp trip on them. We also go to ghost towns on them. I made a video of that if you have not seen it. Kinda in the woods at the top but started in the desert.
Thanks for watching!
That’s sounds great I will need to turn on post notifications
Sounds good and thanks for watching!
