Fusion has been a great offering from Amrut. There is a peated cask strength release which is pretty good too. Paul John is another Indian distillery that has put out peated and sherry releases which are great whiskies. I just grabbed Indri recently which is non-peated but is pretty darn good.
I'm trying to expand my international whisky collection. It's slow going, but you mentioned a few that I want to try.
This just won the title for the best whiskey in the world!
Good for them. Cheers!
I'm out of Fusion, but that's a terrific bottle. Some other Amrut bottles are also starting to appear here, along with Paul John and Rampur.
I'm thinking of picking up a Paul John and Rampur. Any idea about Australian whisky?
@@whiskeyisajourney I have the Paul John Bold (also very good). The only Australian I have is the Starward Nova. I haven't opened it yet but it gets good reviews. Aged in local red wine barrels, which may not be my thing, but I want to give it a try.
Great review, as always. I really like Amrut products. I even got to meet the head distiller last year when visited Jack Rose in DC. Fusion is a solid value for what it is. I have an almost 9 year port cask finish from amrut which is dynamite.
That's cool. I'm definitely looking forward to trying more from them.
Great review Peter! I had a bottle of the Fusion and liked it at first but once I got further down the bottle I started finding it extremely sweet and extremely malty and didn’t enjoy it as much. Maybe I need to give it another go.
Or just go through the bottle faster 😜 I'm kidding.
Big, big fans of Fusion here. We gotta try it with some water.
I was pleasantly surprised how the water opened it up and rounded it out.
I had heard good things about this one, tried it on the weekend for the first time at a whisky show against some of their other expressions and I liked it. A good whisky and the best of the ones I tried on the day (did not like their Intermediate Sherry, tasted like stagnant water)
Stagnant water does not sound good. Thankfully this one did not have that particular note. Cheers Wade!
@@whiskeyisajourney Honestly the worst sherried whisky I have ever had. Hoping it was just a bad batch.
Its sounds like an excellent whiskey, would you says its a blended whisky like Jonnie walker green label or blue label.
We'll it's stated as a single malt so I don't think it's blended. I think the regulations are the same for Indian whisky as scotch.
The peated barley also comes from Scotland, 75% barley from India and 25% barley from Scotland. This is $88 Cad in Ontario or about $65 US. Keep in mind that 1 year in India is about 4 years in Scotland due to the climate. There are numerous finished core range Amruts and single casks on the market. I have several expressions and all are very good.
That's great information. Thanks! I'm looking forward to trying other expressions from them. Cheers !
Had an Amrut years ago. I liked it. But I cannot remember why.
I see a healthy Campbelltown collection to your right. Somewhat jealous.
Now that it's getting colder...well it was 103 today, but as it gets cooler here I will be dipping into those bottles on the channel. Really looking forward to the Springbank 12 CS and the 15.
I was in Halifax, Nova Scotia, 🇨🇦 recently, and somehow got to sample the 15. It was wow. Sent you an Instagram pic of the pours. And yes... there was some bar blending.
I remember seeing that. Just took another look at it just now.
Nice review. I'll have to dip my toe into some Indian whiskeys.
I think this is a good place to start.
Another Indian single malt has won a double gold this year at whiskey awards.
Indri 2023 Diwali Collector's Edition. Which comes from the house of Picaddily Distilleries.
If available, kindly review that too. 🇮🇳💯
I'll keep my eyes open for it. Cheers!
I have not seen the Diwali Collector's Edition. Just regular Indri Trini.
Indri Diwali Collector’s Edition 2023 is a peated Indian single malt made with six-row barley, distilled in traditional copper pot stills crafted in India. Carefully matured in PX Sherry Casks for a significantly long time amidst the sub-tropical climate of North India, this unique expression entices you with a whiff of smoke and awakens your senses to a myriad of flavours such as candied dried fruits, toasted nuts, subtle spices, oak, bittersweet chocolate and more.
Very accurate review. Good job!
Cheers 🥃
Thanks! I need to expand my international whisky collection. Sounds like there are a few out there that are getting good reviews.
Was it Bill Murray's or Jim Murray's third favorite?
I always get those names mixed up. Jim's 3rd.... But i guess it could also be Bill's 3rd if someone asked him.
The Fusion is of peated barley from Scotland and 6-row Indian Barley.
Good to know. Thanks for the information! Helps me out a lot. I appreciate it. Cheers!
I absolutely LOVE this whiskey! It’s delicious and the proof is perfect. 🤌
That's great! I'm excited to try more from them. Cheers!
