James Caan on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson - 11/18/1977 - pt. 2 Part 01 - • James Caan on The Toni... #johnnycarson #jamescaan #thetonightshow
This is before 'Thief' which is one of my favorite movies ever. My husband put it on one night and I had never seen it before. He said "Trust me mama, you're going to love this movie!" He was right ✅. Unfortunately he passed away in February of 2020. I miss him more and more every day.
Now that’s how iconic and legendary the” Lucchese” cowboy boot brand has always been!! It’s pretty amazing that an iconic film star like james caan would talk about his lucchese boots on the iconic johnny carson show in an iconic era of film making... Glad to be wearing them boots :)....
@@charlesallen4821 : Yes to me they seem to be caiman skin boots which even then were the top of luxury in cowboy boots. Today thoses boots from lucchese could have a starting price of 5 + grand…
I have always loved James Caan. Rollerball, Thief, Chapter Two, Cinderella Liberty, Elf, Comes a Horseman, The Killer Elite, Misery, Eraser, Alien Nation, The Godfather, Freebie and the Bean, A Bridge Too Far, Hide in Plain Sight, Kiss Me Goodbye.
Damnnn, one thing for certain there and it's the last time Johnny will have him on as a guest.... Trying to interview him,or just have a simple conversation is way beyond hope, Geez. 😳🙄☹️
Hmmm... Carson messed this one up, he didn't have his homework done (film clip or rodeo) and when it went downhill he didn't seem to know how to bring it back .... (instead made snide remarks and made Caan uneasy) He could have asked a dozen good questions to Caan ....
These 2 segmnents were great comedy. Carson and McMahon where jacked up Because on the show that night was Karen Valentine, James Caan, David Brenner, Dr. Michael Fox. Thus Johnny knew he would get a good laugh and also get laid all in the same evenig. I believe the SMOG was pretty heavy as well
does caan need to waste his time with a man who dislikes him? carson always had a jealousy and envy with actors incuding caan, curtis, segal and musicians mccartney. love how caan said try to collect then taking a sip of a drink and stood up looking at carson as if to say something of disgust. i don't think caan was on carson as host after that

caan is still alive
Johnny was the best...noone came even close..like listening to James Caan as well
Love James Caan. I was a huge fan as a kid. I saw Freebie and the Bean countless times on TV.
One of my favorite Freebie and bean.
I always liked James cann especially in The Godfather as sonny corleone he was perfect for that part a very good actor
couldn't agree with you more..I also feel this was Al Pacino's finest performance in his career by a mile
RIP JAMES CAAN LEGEND just passed today
I was 15 when this aired. I thought James Cann was the most handsome man in the movies. We did not watch TV much but I saw him in Brians song.
thank you for posting, keep em' coming. we miss you johnny!

I can't figure out what kind of lizard boots he's saying. Maybe it's a caiman lizard.

Johnny was the one and only, never missed the show
There is a Rob Schneider episode. He danced in tight leather. It was hysterical. I can’t find it.
It's too bad many of the early years have been lost forever. 😳
one and only bore who shows his disike to his guests
@@coldwinter5710 agree
@@roberthenry3940you may mean roy Schneider
I gather this was the first and last time Caan appeared on the show?
Wow tough guest well handled Johnny
I'm thinking this was the one and only time he was on the tonight show !
R.I.P. James Caan...😓
Don't forget El Dorado with John Wayne
RIP James
"Just name a bone."
Man, his son who plays at 5O just looks unbelievably like his father.
Yeah, but he’s not as good looking as James Caan.

Love your boots😍😍
While Jimmy Fallon does ok for the tonight show, there will never be anyone like Johnny Carson.
Jimmy Fallon was a gem on SNL (except for the intentional character breaks), but he doesn't hold a candle to JC
Amen
Jim Fallon a "gem" yea right
Letterman is the only one that came close to Carson.

Caan seemed asleep. he's boring.
Johnny wanted the conversation to go the Godfather route, but Caan didn't seem to want to go down that path...
I agree. The snide remarks about things James seemed passionate about.
This is from 1977, not 1975.
You are correct, sir! That's our mistake, thank you!

And who exactly is operating this channel, may I ask?

Paul Sheldon & Tommy Korman were the best characters.
Warning: Train wreck ahead!
Hi 👋
does caan need to waste his time with a man who dislikes him? carson always had a jealousy and envy with actors incuding caan, curtis, segal and musicians mccartney. love how caan said try to collect then taking a sip of a drink and stood up looking at carson as if to say something of disgust. i don't think caan was on carson as host after that
Lol. You are clueless.
Why is James giving this interview ?
Look how Johnny massacred my boy
It would be better just to play the whole show instead of excerpts. Don't u think Johnny ?
yes,I agree
So strange to see smoking during a TV show....Johnny loved to smoke to but he seemed to have stopped doing it on his show at some point
I miss when you could smoke on TV. Johnny had to stop that in 1983.
Wayne Muldrow It’s hard to believe that it even happened imagine if you saw that now you never hear the end of it
@@waynemuldrow4066 Carson's cigarette box remained on his desk until his final broadcast...
James Caan was an alpha male but he was right intimidated by Carson. That was a tough interview !
Fucking Ed sold johnny out in this interview!
ONE of the most BORING guests ever. Bet Johnny never had him on again
Who is drunk in this clip?!
James Caan really tried but Carson was abrupt and condescending.
I always thought he was a jerk
Thief!!!
A jewish cowboy.
