      "During the theatrical release of _Karate Kid 2_ in 1986, after Daniel's (Ralph Macchio) victory over Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) during a battle to the death, Daniel asks Chozen "Live or die, man?" Before Yuji could say his next line in the script ("Die"), Macchio immediately grabbed Yuji's head and viciously twisted, snapping his neck. Yuji was rushed off set where he was pronounced dead due to a severed brainstem. The scene was included in the theatrical release, being cited by Director John G Avildsen as "The best damn method acting I've ever seen.""
      "When questioned about his actions, Macchio said, "Karate works in mysterious ways" and then proceeded to hit the interviewer with a series of martial arts blows, sending them to the hospital. Ralph declined any further interviews."

How we met is she was a stripper and I know not to get emotionally involved with one but this girl was and I am saying was because we lost touch after breaking up after two years together yet I still love her and will always. Anyway this girl her stage name was Asia but her real name was Mandy and she was a sweet girl and better respected than her fellow dancers. I am friends with her bro and he told me she is still single but she's lost. I pray she finds her way and I told her bro to tell her to call me when she has the chance and that I still love her.

      Single mother, phffff..!!!she did not care about him. She wanted a "son-husband...." Look at the beginning of the KK1, she cared only about her job, since she uprooted his life in NJ and had him say bye to his friends...to do whatever she wanted...move into some crummy apartment and basically ordered him to take off the sun glasses to see his "baby-browns.." Daniel even says. "Why can't we just go home. I want to go home.." Of course he got to grow up in SoCal, which at that time would have been cool. Mr. Miyagi was his savior basically...helped him and even prevented him from taking a beating from Johnny and CO, the fence..
      Miyagi-San took him under his wing, which is way more than vast majority of boys raised in single moms house get. But still this was the best of the Daniel-San movies...It is a "feel-good"movie of that era.

    Of all of Daniel’s adversaries and fights ,I think Chozen was the most dangerous since it was a real fight to the death ,not for points or a tournament.What I didn’t like about Karate Kid III was how weak and scared they made Daniel look even after beating Chozen .His fight with Barnes was absolutely disappointing because he kept running away from Barnes in the ring but never backed down from Chozen .(Who I thought was more tougher and dangerous than Barnes )

      In Karate Kid III Daniel was mentally unsound in his tournament fight with Barnes. Terry Silver had basically got in his head and began to turn him into someone he wasn't. When Daniel realized this, he didn't want to fight anymore as his head was filled with fear and self-doubt. Add Barnes being a vicious dick and relentlessly taunt and berate him during their match, that's a recipe for giving up.
      What makes Daniel look really weak was the writers having the new rule where the defending champion has a provisional spot in the final. Daniel got to sit his ass on the sidelines the entire tournament while Barnes had to fight through the competition.

    • @aa-ze5cz

      I actually liked how both the actors played it up as being exhausted/tired, even very early on. They're kids/young adults. Real fists/kicks hurt when you're able to land em. It's a reason a lot of MMA fights that turn into a boxing match can go quick, because their gloves are far less padding than boxing which can only use punches. Today some of the fight scenes in movies/TV shows are RIDICULOUSLY long and overdone.

    • @SatansGreatestSoldier
      @SatansGreatestSoldier 2 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      Daniel didn't have Silver to fuck with his head in this movie. Daniel still had some composure left about himself while fighting Chozen; so he was able to fight a little braver. Unlike when he was scared against Barnes.
      However! I really thought Daniel was gonna die & that there wasn't gonna be a Karate Kid 3 after this movie, when I was young.

      @R F, You'd really have to watch that part to understand. But the scene is Daniel standing on a Pillar in the harbor and an anchor shaped hook is swinging down towards him. He has to sidestep, without falling off the pillar, he did it once but was lucky to only rip his shirt. he asked if there was a counterpunch that could be used, Miyagi said "Ask drum". Some of them are pretty tipical and clichè, but they change in any time and in no time. You can expect a victim become a bully, and a bully become a hero.
      Example: in Season 1 we see LaRusso As a responsible family man and Lawrence As a middle age drunk lunatic. In season 5 It's the other way around(only in episode 5 though)

Plus, Chozen became Daniel's friend on Cobra Kai and now that Mr. Miyagi died (both the character and the actor), Chozen could be considered as the new Mr. Miyagi. Also, if Chozen and Kumiko chose to move out of Okinawa to the state of California where Daniel lives, maybe Daniel can give them a great car on a great discount since he's the owner as an Auto Detailer and he can tell Kumiko of job openings in dance schools in California and maybe he can help Chozen start his business as a karate instructor.

      As much as I appreciate Kumiko helping Chozen becoming a better man, the whole suggestion that Chozen had feelings for Kumiko growing up kinda comes out of nowhere, and also contradicts this movie; right after Chozen kicks Daniel in the gut and says "You insult my honor again, I will kill you!", Kumiko says to Daniel "Ever since we were children, he's always been the same"

So that would imply that Chozen's feelings were real; he really did chase her around as a kid. If you watch KK2, the scene when he takes off his shirt and says "You keep for your collection", Kumiko gives him a look that suggests they were not always at odds with each other.

Johnny lost because after he realized what Kreese had done to Daniel, he decided to let Daniel win the fight, (he would've easily blocked that kick otherwise, and probably would go on to win the match.) Chozen lost because his people sided against him. Barnes lost because he was so used to the advanced moves of Karate, that he didn't think about Daniel using kata, (he is a pretty stupid person in general.) These last two aren't even apart of the series, I just thought about putting them in. The antagonist in KK4 (The Next Karate Kid), Tommy, lost mainly because his karate was still premature. KK5's (Karate Kid 2010) antagonist, Cheng, lost because of plot armor, he is WAY better than Dre, Dre just pulled of a miracle to win the match.

    Who would of thought 36 years later Chozen would be helping Daniel defeat Cobra Kai. Fans of The Karate Kid franchise always wondered what happened to Chozen after the events that had taken place in Karate Kid 2. His life after Karate Kid 2 was always in question. Some fans thought he committed suicide or either became a hermit. I'm glad that Cobra Kai brought his character back and shedded light on how his life has transformed compared to how he was in KK2. The Cobra Kai series gave us Karate Kid fans closure on what was one of the most brought up theories of the Karate Kid franchise.

    Fast forward to Cobra Kai and Daniel and Johnny are forced to watch as Sam, Miguel, Robby, and the rest of their students get into all-out brawls because decades ago, Daniel met Ali and started dating her.

    First two Karate Kid films are Classic, showing skill and character progression throughout. The third fumbles, at least in the skill portion. Chozen was skilled enough to be the hand to hand instructor for the Various American Special Forces Stationed in Okinawa, that's Green Beret's, Navy Seals, Marines, etc. And this was a DEATH Match, if he lost Daniel would have died... And then the third film rolls around, and he's getting jobbed by the Cobra Kai toughs again... Chozen would have beat Sensei Fuckwad from Kid 1 and Sensei Slickback from Kid 3 with his hands tied. HOW, HOW was Daniel reduced to trembling in a ring terrified of his opponent in the third film? Seriously? It would be like Goku going to beat Frieza only to come back to Earth and suddenly be afraid to fight Nappa and Raditz.

    • @arthurdurham
      @arthurdurham 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Besides for KK3 being kind of a writing mess, I'd argue for 2 reasons.
      1. Chozen fought with honor and Daniel knows his moves, they're both Miyagi-do. It was scary but he at least knew what he was up against and knew Chozen would stay true to Miyagi-do fighting
      2. KK3 Terry spends the whole movie messing with Daniel's head and when he fights Barnes, Barnes has no issue pulling out every dirty trick and is unhinged. That probably just freaked Daniel out bc he was out of his element.

    • @OnimaruAnji
      @OnimaruAnji 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@arthurdurham Still thinking being ganged up on by Chozen and Two of his Buddies, having a SPEAR thrust in his face, choked and beaten, and then fighting in a literal DEATH Match with a guy who trains the Special Forces is more of a traumatizing head fuck to get over than having an 'unhinged' cheating bully in your face. Seriously, after taking Chozen he should have had no problem beating EITHER of the Sensei's from the Cobra Kai Dojo, let alone their little 'Angry Chihuahua' that was Barnes.
      I mean I guess I'm not looking at it so much from a Bullied Kid's perspective, maybe Chozen didn't trigger the same kind of 'fear response' as Barnes did on a Traumatic Level, for Daniel perhaps 'Bully' means terrible danger on a mental level. Whereas Chozen was more 'enemy', sure he did BULLY but in a straight forward manner.
      It has been a long time since I've watched 3, but the last time I did was during a Trilogy Marathon and I remember thinking then that Barnes was a Joke, and I even recall thinking the first time I watched it, that Daniel was going to just Crush him in the Tournament when he showed what he could really do, and the series was gonna end on him beating Sensei Slickback, the fact that it didn't and had him on the ground 'afraid' and wanting to run away just seemed like a complete character disaster for Daniel. :(

    • @arthurdurham
      @arthurdurham 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OnimaruAnji I can't disagree in concept as the execution of 3 is weird. But if you look at it from intent, Chozen and all that were outside forces that were dangerous to Daniel but didn't actively target his own self worth and insecurities.
      There was no direct mind game, you can argue that it actually gave Daniel strength to fight bc he needed to beat him. Terry however went out of his way to gaslight and fuck with Daniel's beliefs of his own self and the foundational elements of Miyagi.
      Neither of those movies are done with much tact or depth so I'm arguing this from a conceptual level. But like you mentioned it causes a different reaction being bullied vs being attacked. Nothing Chozen did made Daniel doubt himself, he was just dangerous.
      Terry, and you can see this in Cobra Kai season 4, is amazing at breaking people from the inside. Which causes you to lose confidence in who you are regardless of actual danger. It's also why Chozen is redeamable why Terry isn't, bc Chozen was misguided and angry, not inherintly evil unlike Terry.
      It's a big reason why people stay with abusive partners, shitty jobs, etc. Because they may be able to leave but they have been convinced they are too weak too.
      Chozen is like trying to stop a wild dog running at you. Terry (and by proximity Barnes) is being tricked into thinking that a cat running at you is really a pack of lions.

    • @OnimaruAnji
      @OnimaruAnji 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@arthurdurham I can certainly see your point, and the psychology likely would be a determining factor, if again they were writing with significant depth to the characters for 3 and not just 'new bad guy must be stronger'.
      But I'd definitely say that the reason for the issue, isn't that Barnes wasn't a good fighter, or that he was psychologically dominating Daniel, as any fighter can attest, fear dulls your reactions, makes you slow... But it DOESN'T rob you of your skill or training.
      To go from matching a Master of his Craft in Chozen, who demonstrably is skilled enough to dominate FOUR trained Soldier Opponents , to not being able to even TOUCH, outside of ONE blow, 'Tournament Terror' Barnes, I don't object that playing off Daniel's trauma's couldn't make it so he'd be a challenge, or even lose to him due to his dirty tricks, but to completely dominate him as if he was still the '3 months of training' version from KK1.... It should have been that Barnes had an EDGE, not totally unstoppable.
