Glad you enjoyed it, my friend! Sorry for the late reply, I'm in a literal warzone for the next couple months. haha. I never actually played DayZ myself (not a big zombie game guy) but I do love Chernarus.

Project Wingman ARMA group Chernarus lore: 200X: The First Calamity happened, US Marines stranded on Chernarus with no way to return to North America following catastrophic tectonic shifts. Fighting is halted as the post apocalypse sets in. 21XX~0 AC: Civilization comes back to Chernarus, populations mixing from initial US invasion give rise to Americanski minority ethnic group, most notable for introducing American style cuisine, culture, and accents to the now mixed populations of Chernarus. 3XX AC: Long before calamity, all of Magadan, including Chernarus, was owned by what is today the Russian National Soviet Federative Union (RNSFR). Russia neglected control of its eastern regions which allowed them to gain independence, and then later join the Pacific Federation by way of a special referendum. Chernarus was the only oblast of Magadan to not vote in favor at the time, but nevertheless Chernarus was forced to either fall in line, risk being an isolated state of Russia who would have been their only ally, or to try forming Chernarus as its own nation that the Pac Fed would have conquered anyway. Chernarus chose wisely to simply fall in line, thus joining the Federation with Magadan, although tensions still fester sometimes. 428-432 AC: There was a crisis known as the Red Uprising where a series of workers' disputes escalated into a full blown conflict. During the crisis, a large portion of the Chernarus Defense Force (CDF) at the time had defected to the side of communist extremists, most of whom were of Chedaki; an ethnic majority (at the time) who favored Soviet rule over the Pacific Federation, and have been upset with the annexation of Magadan ever since Russia gave it up. In response, the Pacific Federation led a military intervention which put down the revolt most swiftly and most brutally. Several thousand Red Movement soldiers were killed along with at least a hundred confirmed civilian deaths, although experts believe this number to be higher. It was so bad that even the Nationalist Party, a political enemy of the communists, put aside their bitter differences and allied themselves with the Red Movement. It was all done in a vain attempt to stifle the Federation's invasion which was carried out by a carrier group with the FNS Werewolf (which was later sunk in Presidia, Cascadia). The intervention ended after only sixteen days, during which time Berezino and then Elektrozavodsk were both razed to the ground. One man seen as a hero of this undeclared war was Vladimir Drath of the Vozdushno-desantnye voyska Chernarossi, or Airborne Troops (of) Chernarus in English. Vladimir Drath became a Peacekeeper for the Federation, and the lessons learned in that war went to supporting paratroopers in Cascadia five years later, then again in the Sonoran War where failures in Cascadia were likewise learned from. Chernarus also played a vital role in the war with Cascadia as a source of raw materials that were used during war in Cascadia. The only notable engagement Chernarus took part in during the Cascadian War was sending two of their best pilots during Operation Guillotine above the Bering Strait (Showdown). Both pilots were shot down by Monarch and sent into a POW camp. 432-442 AC: This all came to an end when the Cascadian battleship Eminent Domain and its task force began blocking Magadan ports, including those in Chernarus. Despite this, Chernarus persevered by modernizing its infrastructure and shipping by air until Operation Guillotine cut off that avenue as well. The economy briefly went into recession, then recovered again during the Sonoran War where it once again served as a wartime manufacturing hub. After these conflicts ended, and without these wartime markets, the local economy collapsed completely. This caused Communist Chedaki and National Party members to revive their old rivalries to try regaining their lost prosperity. Vladimir Drath's Peacekeepers have been mostly successful in their efforts to put down any serious fighting, but they can't just send paratroopers into the halls of the Federation Senate. Here is where the majority of such fighting takes place. Media pundits on the left and the right serve to push tensions higher, and the result is becoming bloody. There are only a few dozen VDV Peacekeepers whose loyalty is solely to the Federation. The Chedakis and the Nationalists on the other hand care only what is best for themselves. Verbal discussions become arguments, arguments become fights, fights become brawls, and brawls become riots. The police and the CDF are criticized as being either biased or complacent depending on which side you ask about what particular topic. In an effort to stop the killing, Chernarus banned most gun ownership, but the corrupt authorities do not always enforce the laws. Even when they do, extremists do not obey. Vladimir Drath is approaching the age of retirement. Some would like to see him in politics. Others would like to see him dead. Mercenaries are being hired by the Chedakis and Nationalists now to make underhanded attacks against one-another. Even the CDF has begun putting out contracts in an attempt to bolster their manpower. The hope is that once Chernarus finishes its modernization efforts, new jobs will arise, the economy will recover, and all of this in-fighting will quietly wither away. Perhaps that is too hopeful. 442-444 AC: The PMC Ares Combat Escort Services (ACES) was hired by the Chernarussian government to conduct operations to quell the insurgencies. Tensions rose during a potential flashpoint where a NAPA aligned farmer was charged with illegal firearms possession and the murder of a Chedaki man stealing corn. Riots broke out over the dispute and all parties prepared for war. Thanks to the actions of ACES, the riots were quelled bloodlessly with evidence found that pertains to criminal elements inciting both parties to erupt the powder keg. Instrumental to calming the riots was a relative of Colonel Vladmir Drath, Sterling, who used his influence and negotiation to appeal to both NAPA and Chedaki elements, thus preventing tensions from spilling into war. Eventually, however, tensions rose again as continued proxy agencies from both Federation, Cascadian, and even Russian elements sown the seeds for more uprisings. This all came to climax as ACES was hired to level several villages aligned with both NAPA and Chedaki forces. Unknown to them, this was a false flag operation to assassinate Chedaki and NAPA officials in the process of peace talks within Chernarus. With the situation devolving, Colonel Vladmir Drath was granted emergency powers by the Chernarussian government. The population believes this to be a coup for Colonel Drath to take power, which couldn't be farther from the truth as mercenaries, Federation, and Cascadian backed elements are pouring into country to seize whatever power they can hold. This is where we are now
