      Agreed...hardly any crap ones. With the distance he's hitting it, just getting on the fairway is amazing. Was thinking how much fun it would be for the members to see him nail one on the course they know....they're probably 150 yards behind where he hits it!

    76 at Pinehurst No. 2 from the back tees is a very good score. For as far as you hit all of your clubs, you accuracy and distance control is impressive. Keep up the great work

    Very cool seeing how you play the track. I play #2 about as much as I can (just played today). One thing since you asked in the video, where you hit from on the 2nd hole is not the Open tees. You have to go back about 60 yards to get there. It’s near a bunker well behind the blue tees. I played the Open tees this summer and didn’t even realize that tee box was back there and I’ve played the course at least 100 times!
    Awesome video though man!

    I’m a member at the club, and a +2 handicap who plays No2 with regularity -
    Those were not the US open tees you played. US open tees are 7600 yards, blues are a hair over 7000. Hole 2 from US open tees is about 50 yards behind the blues (located sideways off the 1 fairway, around 60 yards short of 1 green), and hole 4 is about 80 behind the blues with the US open tees for 4 being right by the blue tees for 6. Other holes with a large difference in tees are 11, 12, 3, 17, and 14. US open tees are marked with gold plates in the ground; actual above-ground tee markers are never set out for those tees. I often get lots of funny looks from people when I play them, but such as it is - I want the whole experience.

    I’m sure I say this with many more thinking the same thing. Appreciate the honesty and personal thoughts about your game as you’re playing. Talking about not being comfortable shooting around others and the cameras…just common problems beginners have and makes us know even long driver champs have same fears/ nerves/ mind set they have to work on. Keep up the positive and inspiring energy brother!

    The driving clinic continues! Awesome work with the big dog. Ironically it was principally shorter holes that got you which says to me that the potential to score really well was there. I loved watching you guys on these Pinehurst courses. I've always wanted to play them and have played nos. 2 and 7 on a top quality sim many times so it was a blast to see no. 2 so up close and recognized many holes. I'm sure it's a very different animal in real life. The wedges are looking good and many shots around the green have improved recently. Nice video and enjoyed it a lot.

  • @rollandgkerr
    @rollandgkerr 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    That is one tough course. 30 years ago I was a 2 handicap and played #2. I actually had my ball on 17 of 18 greens in regulation. 16 times the ball rolled off the green. So I actually hit 1 green in regulation. I shot 88. I think with what I learned from that round, I would have had a shot at breaking 80 if I would have played again that summer. One extremely challenging course. I personally have more fun playing courses with receptive greens. Nice round.

  • @JTNMax
    @JTNMax 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Played there a couple months ago. We also played the Cradle which was a blast. Besides #2, you must play 4, 8, and 7 which are all great. But if you can get an invite, the CC of NC has two great tracks (Dogwood & Cardinal) and Pine Needles and Mid Pines are a must. It doesn’t get rated very high but #1 at Pinehurst is the original / oldest course there, is a lot of fun and with long drives you could score really low on that one. Lot of good golf in that area.

    Kyle, it looks like you were playing the blues. We played it a few days or so before you did and they don't have US Open tees(what we were told) out. They have stone markers in the ground where they put tees for the US Open. But some of the blues were where the US Open is played from. The 2nd hole has the plaques way back behind where those blue markers are. Great course.

    Awesome course. I played before the redesign. The 3rd 350 hole seemed harmless. I would say on those type maybe go 5 iron off the tee. You have power advantage at all lengths. Take the fuller shot in. Kyle you should play some tour stops if possible. I'm sure any course would love to have you play there if you approach the head pro. Cheers!

    You drove the ball really well this round! The course is tough and you score showed an honest impact of how hard it is. I did actually play this in the late ‘90’s, hoping to get back out there again with my dad this decade!

  • @jamiecapes2644
    @jamiecapes2644 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The problem when taking on no.2 is often psychological, that you know how hard it is on approach shots owing to the infamous domed greens, which is one reason Jack Nicklaus called it the best second shot course in the country and one which the Coore/Crenshaw restoration help recapture the magic envisioned by Donald Ross.

  • @GoldChump
    @GoldChump 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I caddied here for a few season and this is the best course. Nothing like walking down Pinehurst 2 first thing in the morning... You get to play it now as a redesign which is something I need to get back there to do! Oh, adjust 3" break towards club house on all putts ;]~ 76 good score!
    Edit: To be able to shoot 76 with the filming and other distractions is awesome. Just blows me away as good as a putter you are the greenside chips just are not good. Wish you would get with your teacher and start bouncing and running everything to hole around green - as low as you can even if you have to bump before green some. Just make a commitment to that for feels sake and experience. Be a matter of time you would be draining a good percentage of them I believe.

    +6 at brutal Pinehurst #2 is a pro tour player score. At the US Open in 1999 I saw quit a few over 80 scores. I played that monster once and we all agreed keeping score would ruin the day. So after the third hole we just soaked in the history of it. Any amateur who breaks 90 played dang good. A truly humbling course. I had 16 bad holes, you had 3 LOL. Donald Ross must have hated golfers.

    The us open tees are the golden plates that will be behind those blue tees on every hole. They don’t set the tees up for them. Hole 4 is on top of the hill behind the cart path. Up by the tee box of hole 6.

    great round kyle! I havent watched many videos in a while since Ive been pretty busy but I can tell that you have improved a lot. realistically you only made very few mistakes on a course that is considered on of the hardest out there. it was a fun video to watch, I wish you the best in ur golfing career!

    one hole tripled so to be able to play 17 holes 3 over par is something to be massively proud of.
