I'm in utter dismay. The academic environment has acted as a catalyzer to this strange sensation which has alienated me from my own people. I've never felt so far away, so disgusted by my own folk. I notice, every single day, anti-scientific attitude. The unwillingness to hear about something NOT out there. The active abstinence of great books and talks. I once tried to present Aristotelian logic for God's existence and infinite regression, further developed with some religiosity by people like Abu Hanifa, and I returned disappointed. They actively loathed that argument, and not because it was irrational, but because it was hard. They needed something easy to chew, like a child who's not seen anything outside of its own cradle. How can we expect them to understand, or at least hear, greater arguments. How can we expect them to read higher poetry? How can we expect those with a strange obsession with short-form content, to sit through greater poems? They can't even sit through one tough verse! It's disappointing and it's hard to maintain any inclusivity with this kind of self-obsessed, content, and indifferent people.

I think we can read self help books but should not think that these are enough.
