I am a software developer myself and started watching this video when I was still in my apprenticeship. I might not work at a game development studio, but I also enjoy codeing all day. :)
Ungrave it’s written in C++, which isn’t exactly the safest language. Showing the code would make certain hacking, like stack or buffer overflow attack, a lot easier.

I worked for very big companies and trust me it's not them being kind, they don't give a sh*t about people, they only do it because they understood that it brings them some kinds of benefits like : - a tired salary men is a less productive worker - they understood that having people working overtime everyday is toxic for their health - they care about their image + talents are actualy more willing to enter a compagny if they can work less It's the same about coffee breaks, companies worldwide only allows it cause you'll be more productive afterwards

The bandai namco group is one of my favorites. The tales of series and tekken are one of the keystone parts of my childhood and to see a day of the creative team behind it is amazing. Thank you so much for the videos.

I'm learning coding about 2 years but not exactly 2 years since I've procrastinated but seeing this video again reminded me of what i wanted to again and I've gained motivation to keep my self studying again everyday so yea I'll do my best see you again in here after college in 4 years
Same here man! At the time I found this video it was 2020 and I was in my second year of programming. While I didn’t really slack off, this still gave me more motivation to work on my coding. FASt forward to today, I am currently working as a software intern
Great video, from my long career in the Information Technology field, programmers job is one of the hardest, most stressful and under appreciated, it require life long learning as the technology will constantly evolve. Programmers will be lucky to last more than 10 years before burning out and branch into something else. Wishing Masa all the best

Many of his videos look like the walk ups are "staged" in that it's way too convenient only the people in the videos are there and they have things to show the camera lol. Perfect example is when he went to that meetings where the team was working on a "secret" project and had nothings posted up or showing on the laptops that would hint at what they are working on on camera lol.

Not really Japanese vs American or any other country for that matter. It’s more what industry you work in. Many tech offices offer very similar benefits and sometimes even free snacks/food/gym/showers.
I'd picture a fighting game room packed with people debating over the last chars and patches released with the director and assistants. Feedbacks all day long. Looks way more peaceful this way though.

@@ふしぐろうめぐみ Well, for most of the game prototypes, you will need to playtest and ensure that it works first before actually developing the graphics and stuffs, otherwise if there's any bugs in the game, they can just fix it right away.
Thanks for doing this, as someone who is into game development seeing the life of a game developer from Japan is very insightful and interesting. Japan is the country that helped make the gaming market huge after all.

Not going to lie, I'm pausing the video and taking a look at his code :D Interestingly they used the Unreal Engine for code vein and the code the guy is writing in is all in English even the custom functions he's clearly got going. I wonder if they have overseas programmers who take a look at it as well? I've been coding for about 4 years now and I'm a little disturbed that I can read and make sense of bits of code even from just a couple of seconds footage. Edit: Oh wait, in the later video there's some Japanese kanji, I think those are comments though, yep, just double checked 10:11, so programming in English, comments in Japanese.

@@Juke172 But he had a normal working time of 8h(9h if you count 1h breaks which is normal). Guessing nap time is just a bonus, company rather have the people clear headed writing code then tired and messing up and have to redo work.
@@Juke172 Not everywhere. In IT companies it's not uncommon to have much of free time actually, as long as you do your job. That's how Scrum works. You have tasks for 1-2 week period and if you do it faster it usually means free time or working on something with low priority.

I love this video, but you should have interviewed Masa more, like asking him about what he does in the company, like for example if he's debugging a game or something... You could have also asked which programming languages does he knows, etc.
6:46 Hes coding C#. Based on the name spaces he is referring to I am assuming he is coding something related to a web service. That code he typed alone doesn't do anything. He is just creating functions for the main script to call out. I think. 10:12 He is coding C++. I got no clue what that code does. Everything there looks like functions that get called by something. But because of the functions' vague structure, I can't really tell what it's supposed to do.
I'm glad he treated everyone like normal people. What was crazy to me was how polite they were to a TH-camr making career videos. I'm sure he had permission, but everyone genuinely seemed friendly instead of annoyed that they had to put up with someone interrupting their work flow.

lol I'm sure he asks them off camera first before he approaches and then starts asking questions. Many of his videos look like the walk ups are "staged" in that it's way too convenient only the people in the videos are there and they have things to show the camera lol. Perfect example is when he went to that meetings where the team was working on a "secret" project and had nothings posted up or showing on the laptops that would hint at what they are working on on camera lol.

Not really Japanese vs American or any other country for that matter. It’s more what industry you work in. Many tech offices offer very similar benefits and sometimes even free snacks/food/gym/showers.

Not going to lie, I'm pausing the video and taking a look at his code :D Interestingly they used the Unreal Engine for code vein and the code the guy is writing in is all in English even the custom functions he's clearly got going. I wonder if they have overseas programmers who take a look at it as well? I've been coding for about 4 years now and I'm a little disturbed that I can read and make sense of bits of code even from just a couple of seconds footage.
Edit: Oh wait, in the later video there's some Japanese kanji, I think those are comments though, yep, just double checked 10:11, so programming in English, comments in Japanese.

@@Juke172 Not everywhere. In IT companies it's not uncommon to have much of free time actually, as long as you do your job. That's how Scrum works. You have tasks for 1-2 week period and if you do it faster it usually means free time or working on something with low priority.
