I worked for very big companies and trust me it's not them being kind, they don't give a sh*t about people, they only do it because they understood that it brings them some kinds of benefits like : - a tired salary men is a less productive worker - they understood that having people working overtime everyday is toxic for their health - they care about their image + talents are actualy more willing to enter a compagny if they can work less It's the same about coffee breaks, companies worldwide only allows it cause you'll be more productive afterwards
What, you thought it's a godlike entity, beyond human interaction? Everything that isn't natural construction on this planet, is in fact man made. Which means someone out there, either created it, or manufactured it. And people mostly wouldn't mind you asking them some question, as long as you're not rude or interrupting terribly.
Great video, from my long career in the Information Technology field, programmers job is one of the hardest, most stressful and under appreciated, it require life long learning as the technology will constantly evolve. lol I'm sure he asks them off camera first before he approaches and then starts asking questions. Many of his videos look like the walk ups are "staged" in that it's way too convenient only the people in the videos are there and they have things to show the camera lol. Perfect example is when he went to that meetings where the team was working on a "secret" project and had nothings posted up or showing on the laptops that would hint at what they are working on on camera lol.

Not going to lie, I'm pausing the video and taking a look at his code :D Interestingly they used the Unreal Engine for code vein and the code the guy is writing in is all in English even the custom functions he's clearly got going. I wonder if they have overseas programmers who take a look at it as well? I've been coding for about 4 years now and I'm a little disturbed that I can read and make sense of bits of code even from just a couple of seconds footage. Edit: Oh wait, in the later video there's some Japanese kanji, I think those are comments though, yep, just double checked 10:11, so programming in English, comments in Japanese.
as a developer seeing all those "day in life of a programmer" videos, this is probably the most accurate representation of what we actually do. 80-90% of the day is just coding and 10-20% is meeting or discussion. that's it.
80-90% coding? I wish! A lot of my time is in meetings. So for me, I would say 50% is coding. And out of that 50%, 35-40% is reading other people's code and architecture planning.

I love this video, but you should have interviewed Masa more, like asking him about what he does in the company, like for example if he's debugging a game or something... You could have also asked which programming languages does he knows, etc.
I love how you do the day of “A” life, and not the “average” life of someone in these professions. It sets your videos apart from others, and allows us to see different quirks (like the office worker) that the average Japanese person may not experience.

I used to work as a programmer and to be honest, I hated it. Being in front of a computer coding for hours can really burns you out. It's something you really have to love. Programming is not for everyone.

Not going to lie, I'm pausing the video and taking a look at his code :D Interestingly they used the Unreal Engine for code vein and the code the guy is writing in is all in English even the custom functions he's clearly got going. I wonder if they have overseas programmers who take a look at it as well? I've been coding for about 4 years now and I'm a little disturbed that I can read and make sense of bits of code even from just a couple of seconds footage.
Edit: Oh wait, in the later video there's some Japanese kanji, I think those are comments though, yep, just double checked 10:11, so programming in English, comments in Japanese.

as a developer seeing all those "day in life of a programmer" videos, this is probably the most accurate representation of what we actually do. 80-90% of the day is just coding and 10-20% is meeting or discussion. that's it.

Not really Japanese vs American or any other country for that matter. It’s more what industry you work in. Many tech offices offer very similar benefits and sometimes even free snacks/food/gym/showers.

I used to work as a programmer and to be honest, I hated it. Being in front of a computer coding for hours can really burns you out. It's something you really have to love. Programming is not for everyone.
I think it is not for atleast you. Coz I have my game launched and also I am a unity game engine game dev and I enjoy it.
