Thanks for putting this out. Last night, I was growing very frustrated with the limitations of the mimo app, but thanks to this video I now know some work arounds. Appreciation from sunny Los Angeles, CA.
Thank you for this video. You answered a key question for me - use the Samsung native camera app! I didn't know you could get it to work with the record button and follow type by setting it up with the Mimo app first. So, workflow would be to start the gimbal with the Mimo app, level and calibrate, choose focus mode, then start the Samsung app and enjoy all full capability. Not perfect, but better than just using the Mimo app! Still wish DJI would address lack of support for Android. Note that this can be done - Moza's Genie app supports practically all the Note 20 Ultra video modes including 4k 60fps, so we know that DJI could address this issue.

I have Samsung galaxy A52 and wanted to buy this DJI OM4 but will it let me record vids in FHD 60 fps? I've seen few Vids and reviews on Amazon and they say it's not good for Android and it limits many features. Please help. Thank you

DJI fucked us! The mimo app seriously limits the Samsung Android product, fully supported on Ios but not Android? 3rd party apps can do it but not dji? All dji tell you is its Samsung's fault...... sounds like bullshit

Little disappointed in that you don't get all the features using Android vs IOS. Question, in the Mimo app I don't see 4K setting in video, only see 1080P and 720P @ 30. What am I missing? Seems like every time I get something new (camera or drone), there is always a learning curve. Especially when it come to all the different phones, the device has to be compatible, but not always....
I've got the Note 20 Ultra 5G and in the Mimo app, I'm only getting 1080p rear recording @ 30 as well ... I called up DJI and was told that the Note 20 Ultra is not compatible with the OM 4 ... I'm guessing the latest Android 11 update to the phone is the culprit here ... because just like in this video, as well as tons of other reviews, everyone else is able to get 4K@30 from within Mimo ...

And you showing Tiffen pro-mist what about that issue with focus? Hmm.
I didn't use the tiffen on that shot - the close up tracking shot. Yeah it's not as easy to place lenses over the top of that big camera block. Doesn't fit my zecti rig for example

Great video, as always. Did you need any counterweight? I tried using my Note 20 ultra on my Osmo mobile 1 and it wouldn't balance until I powered up, meaning I'm probably straining the motors

Does your zooming work? I am using a note10+ and the zoom +/- only goes from .5x to 1x to 8x, I can not get it to smoothly zoom in, it always goes to max. And I tried using native Samsung camera app, zoom does not work at all.

When you put the filter on the phone did you have to fit any counterweights? I couldn't see any in the shot. I have a Moza Mini-S and have to counterweight it if I put an ND filter on my phone. I'm considering replacing it with the OM4 and not having to faff with counterweights would be a plus for me.
@@SiHorrocks hmm) I'm on Note20 ultra with OM4 and looks like Motor is on maximum mode... With lens it's even impossible (if you move the center of grip too much you can't rotate mode, and it works not always as planned), I am using Ulanzi counterweights unfortunately it fills like phone is very heavy and large for it, I am surprised that you don't feel any of this?

you will find that most "pro" users of gimbals rarely use the app which comes with the gimbal. We use the native app for most shots. Only for something like timelapse or a feature that can't be done using the native app would I use the gimbal app
How did I get out the mimo app without pressing the home button on the app itself? Once I'm on the app and select the settings I want (fallow mode) I can't get out the app because my home button and back button are hidden by the app.
@@SiHorrocks I've tried that but nothing appears until I exit the mimo app. I'm using the galaxy s21 ultra and the note 20 ultra but it won't let me go back, I have to hit the home button on the mimo app and then I can swipe up and the return key appears. maybe a balance thing. Since then it's always been fine, with the Ultra and the iPhone 12 Pro Max. In this video I use the OM 4 with the 12 Pro Max and it's fine th-cam.com/video/fZeSVMXK0yc/w-d-xo.html

@@Histogramas just tested it. So it seems to work best if I use the native camera app and switch off stabilization in the phone. This is only a problem for panning. In Mimo it's not 100% smooth
@@SiHorrocks, thank you so much! Yes, makes sense that stabilization from the phone would "collide" with stabilization from the Gimbal. So, the best solution is to use native App (or FIlmic Pro or MCpro24fps (even better than filmic pro, as far as I tested) ) with no stabilization and the OM4 alone. Thank you. Tomorrow I will post something back according to my own testings, so I can contribute as well :) Cheers.
Thanks for the video. I'm a note guy but I'm torn between getting the 20 ultra or moving back to the iPhone. I see there was some issues grabbing focus on the trailing your subject. I wonder how good that laser is grabbing focus on video.
Thanks for commenting 🙂 it was shifting focus because the subject was moving away from the centre and auto focus fixes on whatever is in the centre. I think the focus is great on this phone
Of you want workable MimoApp, FilmicPro than I think Iphone have advantage here... I am thinking about it) still having Note20 Ultra - overall quality, I think around the same between this two.

Thanks David! When I first tried it it worked first time. Then as I was using it, it stopped working. So I played around, making sure the phone was connected to the gimbal via bluetooth. Then it worked again. Then it stopped again... I think it's something to do with connecting the gimbal via the Mimo app. I need to experiment to work it out exactly...
@@SiHorrocks thanks for the super fast response. So thanks to you I think I've found the answer by pairing the note 20 ultra first and then open and start Mimo . This seems to allow me to hop in and out of both apps while retaining record button functionality. Thanks again Dave

I have Note 20 Ultra and uploaded Android 11. Now 4k video is gone in the Mimo app. I only have 1080p as the highest resolution in the Mimo app when I had the 4k option previously. Anyone else have this problem?
@@SiHorrocks I have the Snapdragon version. Maybe that's the problem. So sad. This is a deal breaker since I lost 4K. I don't know what to do now since this gimble is now basically useless to me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Yup, same thing is happening to me. I did contact DJI and was told that the Note 20 Ultra is not compatible with the OM 4 and they wouldn't support it since it's not on their device support list.
@@SiHorrocks try using counterweight for OM4 because Note20 ultra is too heavy for motors, I am using Ulanzi counterweights (with filter it would even more heavy), that's the reason I think
I really enjoyed your video, I have a question, I have a Note20 like you, but I am unable to get clear video in the slow motion and super slow motion, my video look like a 1970 video, not definition in them, color are fade. @@SiHorrocks yes, I use the slow motion setup from the phone no change in the configuration and it was uploaded directy from my Note20 to TH-cam. How did you do the leaf shot and how did you uploaded it to TH-cam.

I can get mine to zoom smoothly. But ff I double tap the zoom button it goes directly from .5 to 1 then to 8

@@Histogramas just tested it. So it seems to work best if I use the native camera app and switch off stabilization in the phone. This is only a problem for panning. In Mimo it's not 100% smooth
@@SiHorrocks, thank you so much! Yes, makes sense that stabilization from the phone would "collide" with stabilization from the Gimbal.
So, the best solution is to use native App (or FIlmic Pro or MCpro24fps (even better than filmic pro, as far as I tested) ) with no stabilization and the OM4 alone.

Thanks for the video. I'm a note guy but I'm torn between getting the 20 ultra or moving back to the iPhone. I see there was some issues grabbing focus on the trailing your subject. I wonder how good that laser is grabbing focus on video.
Thanks for commenting 🙂 it was shifting focus because the subject was moving away from the centre and auto focus fixes on whatever is in the centre. I think the focus is great on this phone
Of you want workable MimoApp, FilmicPro than I think Iphone have advantage here... I am thinking about it) still having Note20 Ultra - overall quality, I think around the same between this two.

Thanks David! When I first tried it it worked first time. Then as I was using it, it stopped working. So I played around, making sure the phone was connected to the gimbal via bluetooth. Then it worked again. Then it stopped again... I think it's something to do with connecting the gimbal via the Mimo app. I need to experiment to work it out exactly...
@@SiHorrocks thanks for the super fast response. So thanks to you I think I've found the answer by pairing the note 20 ultra first and then open and start Mimo . This seems to allow me to hop in and out of both apps while retaining record button functionality. Thanks again Dave
I'm confused are you using both 58 & 49 filters or did you miss label your video. Because you have a link for the 49mm 1/2 mist filter, Amazon won't let me pair up the 58mm with the 1/4 so is the 49mm 1/4 0k?
I messed up slightly when I ordered and ended up with 2 different sized step up rings and different sized Tiffen filters

I have Note 20 Ultra and uploaded Android 11. Now 4k video is gone in the Mimo app. I only have 1080p as the highest resolution in the Mimo app when I had the 4k option previously. Anyone else have this problem?

@@SiHorrocks I have the Snapdragon version. Maybe that's the problem. So sad. This is a deal breaker since I lost 4K. I don't know what to do now since this gimble is now basically useless to me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yup, same thing is happening to me. I did contact DJI and was told that the Note 20 Ultra is not compatible with the OM 4 and they wouldn't support it since it's not on their device support list.

@@SiHorrocks try using counterweight for OM4 because Note20 ultra is too heavy for motors, I am using Ulanzi counterweights (with filter it would even more heavy), that's the reason I think

@@duponddupont I mean there will be a degradation of image at high speeds, they can't shoot at 4K, also no HDR. Is that coming out at 1080p?

@@SiHorrocks yes, I use the slow motion setup from the phone no change in the configuration and it was uploaded directy from my Note20 to TH-cam. How did you do the leaf shot and how did you uploaded it to TH-cam.
