I stopped using all detangling brushes on mine and my daughter's damp hair. We were losing wads of hair no matter how gentle I was. I had ALL types of brushes from expensive to cheap. Finally, found a professional stylist on here named Ladosha Wright. She recommends the exact style comb as the black one you have at 4:40. I tried it and her detangling technique (from the roots down...I know it sounds crazy!) and it WORKED! The hair lost was minimal and barely any breakage. Tried on my daughter and same results. We are 4a/b. I could not believe it. The teeth are perfectly spaced to get out shed hair and super long to get down in the roots of thick hair. That orange comb is too wide to effectively remove shed hair, leaving a lot of shed hair behind and setting us up for tangles. I now only use detangling brushes on flat ironed hair.
Yup. Wasted 20 dollars on a brush and regret it. In reality a hair pick comb is all you need metal is best. People say it breaks your hair but that’s only if you just shove it in and rip out hair. The longer the better as well, bigger the comb the easier it is.
Can we just say it...brushes damage type 4 hair....and you may not see the damage until months after using it. Stick to wide tooth combs and fingers. Brushes are for defining curls and smoothing hair for styles.
I think it depends on the hair, everyone is different. I've been using brushes for a year now and my hair is thriving. Wide tooth combs never actually detangled my hair, so I prefer brushes
I hate to admit it because I used to be Team Brush but after noticing unusual splits and breakage I think you are right. I was using the exact same Tangle Teezer she has and I LOVED it at first. I'm going to stick with wide comb for damp detangling
GLAD I saw this. A lot of hype about Denman. Maybe it’s great for some; but I am going to try the Tangle Teezer instead. Right now, my hair makes some fine nests for little birdies.
Kazmaleje has excellent tools for detangling. Created by 3 black sisters. I no longer use my old fav the Felicia Leatherwood brush. I lose minimum hair as well.
2 things. 1 I want to see a video later on using the brush. 2 i think it would be nifty if there was a link in the description to help someone watching find this brush easier. 😊 great video! I loved it
I have 2b/3c hair textures and use the denman brush , felicia leatherwood detangle brush , plastic hair pick or wide teeth shower comb . Most of the time I finger comb it helps me find knots .
How long have you been using that Tangle Teezer? It’s never given you any problems? When I first got mine I thought it was a dream, but after about half a year that dream turned into a nightmare when I noticed how much breakage it caused me.
If you want a good comb for natural hair especially us type 4s try the WET Brush Wavy Comb also known as the TXture Pro Comb.. OMG that is the best comb I have ever used in my life and mind you I have a WHOLE shelf dedicated to detangling tools and use only that for the most part.. I don't know WHO came up with that wavy design of the comb but that thing is some kind of Voodoo creation because it detangles without snatching your hair up like the traditional wide tooth comb.. It looks intimidating at first if your traumatized by the regular wide tooth combs but when you use it your like WTF?? 🤔 You can find it at Sally Beauty or Walmart for like 5 bucks I'm shook because at one point I was against using combs until that came into my life....Start at the ends and gently work your way up and you'll be golden!! Its specifically designed for kinky natural hair so it won't snag due to the wavy bristle design absolutely genius!!
@@NaturalCharm88 Awsome! I don't see many reviews on it which is shocking but I think its also because when you see it you assume its gonna snatch your curls up like the rest of them do 🙄 so I don't blame alot of people because I walked by it many times myself then one day I was like " Ok let me see because if I don't like this thing I'm getting my money back 😂lol" even on amazon it has really high reviews. 20 years ago our momas would have appreciated it.. Them good old days getting popped with the brush acting a fool during detangling 🤣🤣
Definitely depend on the person hair. I try it and it not too bad. I'll have to try it in the shower though. Since I have fine hair strands, it's too narrow for me. If they have it a little bit wider, it'll be good!
@@Sunshineblazefire Cool I hope you find what works for you guys. We all have different strands so do what works for you. I recently just found my perfect detangling combo which is the wet comb and the falecia leatherwood brush. At first I was afraid of that Leatherwood brush because the bristles aren't soft but when I use my wet comb to detangle my ends first then follow it with the brush for the rest my hair absolutely loves it!! I like to try new techniques and finally found one that works for me. Detangling is a chore for us naturals at times. lol
hi I checked your description but cant find the link to the brush you mentioning at 3:51 can you please help me out here and let me know? if not do you know the exact name just cant find it and love to purchase
So I came across you video my daughter is 4yr and tender headed so bad I found the generic tangle teaser looks exactly like yours same color and all paid 5.00 it was a lifesaver for my daughter her hair really thick this brush detangled her hair with minimal tears thanks so much

Thank you so much for this comment!!
been looking for a video as detailed as this for quite a while
0:33 thats for the perfect part. Gotta know how to use your tools. Not for combing but you still need it

The most important thing is to have a seamless comb. If a comb detangles wel but snags my hair then its a no no for me
Thank you so much for this video. You have no idea how it is so helpful . Now I know what to get to detangle my kids hair
Love your voice. Great and honest review with all the information I've been looking for💖💖
Hair is looking super cute!

Did my links disappear? I thought I put links to every brush
Nope. It was my stupid phone lol. Sorry
1:00 thats a shampoo brush best used with wet hair but I wouldn't use it on my hair. Gotta know your hair type. Might work for you might not🤷🏽♀️
She been saying alllll the things that’s have been happening to me
Thank you for sharing almost wasted R500 over a denmar comb

1:59 😂 that looks like a good back scrubber for the shower
Your top brush is my favourite brush too. 👍🏽
The Classic Denman is the worst. I totally agree, I don't know how the natural 4c girls use it.
First comb was NOT designed for natural hair hahah
Faaaacts

I've had it for a very long time. I did notice that if my sections weren't small enough I did experience breakage
I suspect it is giving me split ends.
@@cfoster6804 I've alot of complaints from other women that experienced split end after using this brush for a long time.
Yeah I thought so and I think any sturdy, close tooth brush overtime just causes friction for curly hair. I’m going back to wide tooth brushes/combs
Whenever i get my hair done, wide tooth combs are what im afraid of the most they're never gentle for me😂
I was using the find tooth comb for detangling 😭😭. Gotta get that paddle brush or look for the tangle teaser in my country
The first comb is for parting hair or taking out dandruff.
thank you!
Are wood wide tooth combs good for my 4 b coily coarse African American hair?
Yes.
@@cfoster6804I must be using mines wrong 😂

Its a brush I got from Ross. They don't have an online store. It's just a paddle brush.
Where’s the link for the orange widetooth comb? 😭

The Denman Brush Is For Styling, You Use After Detangling Your Hair To Style And Define Curls.
Good high quality video i agree completely
Thank you
I got my hair done today and my stylist kept using the rat tail comb to detangle the parts...I’m worried
Was your hair blow dried? Either way that's annoying
thank you for the video
I'm so happy to know I'm not the only person who believes that the Denman brush is soooooooooooo very overrated. smh.
Thank you!
