Really think this should be in the pinned post or the video description box. Could be VERY confusing for someone not already familiar with either of those brushes.
Your results with the Denman are better than all the others! I wish it would work like that for me; can you consider doing some videos for other types, especially long waves? I see tons of curly method videos, but those techniques don't work at all on my 2B long hair, and I've tried almost everything I've seen - products and methods. Loose waves are a whole other thing! I'd love to see a video from you addressing that, I love your videos and watch even though your methods are not for me. Thanks in advance.
@@brandychapman541 I know! I found one who has wavy hair, although nothing at all like mine, and her methods don't work for me. Her hair always looks wet, it's so coated with product, and it isn't nearly as dense as mine. I think I'm going to focus on hair health and colour protection like before, because all these specialty things haven't made a bit of difference. I think it probably does if you're a real "curly girl" but I have long S shaped waves, and just don't want frizz -EVER!!! 😃
@katgirlblue omg SAMEEE!!! Before I ever heard of the "curl community" I just washed my hair, put a lil hairspray in it or that spray stuff by Aussie called "Sprunch" I think it was, lol, but it literally made my hair pretty & wavy & life was good 🤣🤣🤣 sometimes I think we try too hard & that's where it all goes to hell in a handbasket 🙌🏻💯🤣 I believe I'll go the same route u are & just go back to what I was doing before all the curly chaos came about, lmao!!!
While the denman appears to give more volume it’s also frizzier and less defined. I think the Briogeo gave you a more sculpted refined and elegant look.
I have low density. The denman brush snags my fine hair. Tangle teezer I use in the shower, styling is scrunch-it is great and I use the handle to coil some area. Now I have the bounce curl love it too and cover my cowlicks
Thanks for this! I just purchased the Tangle Teezer through your link. I have the Denman already, and wanted to be able to compare. Also, I just found your channel and it’s soooo helpful! I also have fine, low density hair and it’s been hard finding information and products that work. It seems most curly channels are made by/for very thick, coarse curls. They’re beautiful, but as you mentioned in one of your videos, it doesn’t give me a reasonable expectation for my own fine, low density curls.
I've only just started using the Denman brush (I'm older and it was always drilled into my head that there should be NO BRUSHING after washing so it's weird for me) and it does make better/thicker curl clumps than just scrunching. I tried to get a Bounce Curl brush but I live in Europe so the shipping is way too expensive. I remember seeing a Tangle Teaser at the store so I'll take a closer look to see if it's the kind for curly hair. Thanks for the informative video!
I understand the being older & told not to use a brush on my curly hair & it did become a small shrub when I did, so yep, this using a brush on wet hair is quite the turn around for me as well. I've used the Denman brush twice now & I'm getting better & it's showing in my curls - yippy! I also found a fantastic plastic detangler brush that didn't hurt my scalp at all - at all - for the very first time in my life! {I don't know how to show you} Thank you for this fantastic vid! You do a very good job in your presentation. Smooth, eloquent, & articulate. Great editing also. Glad I found your site. Definitely sharing you with my curly hair family members....
I actually love the look of the bounce curl brush the most!!! It's exactly how I've been wanting my hair to look. I've always loved very bouncy looking and tight curls. I think it's cute how the curls look a lot bouncier afterwards. I don't mind it making my hair look a little shorter because my hair is already pretty long and I think it might look cute on me if my curls had more shrinkage. I've been wanting some more shrinkage actually
I have the BC brush & I'm loving it for the back of my head, and the underneath layer. I really struggle with those areas & that brush gets every bit of hair styled nicely. For the sides & front of my hair I usually use either the scrunch it clump brush or the denman. If I'm in a hurry I'll just use the BC brush on all my curls. It definitely has less tug than my bondi boost boost bristle brush (it's exactly like the briogeo one) & less tug than the behairful which I stopped using a year ago.
I thought that your Denman results were best! I have been using my Tangle Teaser for years, but now I will go find my Denman for my next wash day because of your good results!
I like the results with the Denman brush on your hair. Gives great volume! I’ve tried the Denman myself only once, and brush styling or upright styling doesn’t seem to work well on my waves. It’s a long journey finding the right products and styling techniques for all the variables in our hair that we have to consider!
I have been using my Tangle Teaser in the shower to detangle, the Perfect Hair Care Brush for distributing product and then Denman to style. Crazy, I know. Also, I have the Bounce Curl on pre-order, lol.
My routine has 3 brushes also, Tangle Teezer to detangle in the shower, Aveda paddle brush for distributing product, and Denman for brush styling (or just raking with my fingers)
Wow thanks for this video i was ready to buy that new brush until i saw this video. You're hair looks the best with the Denman brush which i own. And also ty i never thought of using handle to curl my hair usually i have to use a curl iron im gonna try this way on my problem areas which is the sides of my hair. Thanks for all these tips and a great video.
I use the denman brush for my curls, it just works so well and i really wanted to get the bounce curl one but its just a little too pricey for a brush cause you have to pay for shipping and tax its almost $40.
I have two Denman brushes and two Tangle Teaser. Regular size and mini in each. I have tried to brush style so many times but my issue is that clips just slide off my hair when it's wet. No matter the clip size they just don't stay where I put them. I now just use the Tangle Teezers to distribute product after finger detangling. Plus for times when a product has been too sticky on my hair I will dry brush it before washing.
Great video Gena. Love how detailed your videos are. There was a name inversed near the end where you have all 4 brushes. I use my tangle teaser as I get to lazy to switch. May try the bounce curl when it’s in stock
Yeah, I caught that after too and mentioned it in a comment. You can order the Bounce Curl brush now, its just a pre-order: www.bouncecurl.com/products/define-styling-brush?_pos=3&_sid=aedfa5a98&_ss=r&aff=6
Have you tried the SCRUNCHIT brushes? Small and large clump styles? I love them!!! I also like the Denman...and your videos helped me a lot. Thank you. In fact.. MANY of your videos are a great help to me!!! 😊
I use a wet brush dupe. I have so many of them, in case I break one. Can't be without it. Life saver for my tender head, and I wish we had this when I was a child (I had hair over my bum as a child and young teen). Detangling my hair was a "chore" which I dreaded, but my mom doubly so. I had to be bribed on the daily to let her brush my hair. Then she would go, "either you let me brush it or we get a haircut". I was quick to say: "please mom just brush it then". No, I very much love my wet brush dupe (never got the real deal but they are a dime a dozen, really). I used to use a tangle teezer then this one came along and I love it so much more. Can't use a Denman (ouch my poor scalp, it tugs!).
This is the first video I’ve seen from you. Very helpful! I pre-ordered the bounce curl brush before I came here and now I’m going to order the the tangle teaser based on your video. I do have a question for you. Can you describe the way you styled your hair in this video? The hair look you have while you’re talking. Your hair looks even better than the four options with the brushes. Did you do something different? I’m 51 years old and up until recently I had no idea you could STYLE curly hair different ways!!. I’ve had curly hair my entire life, and I just scrunch in some thing and hairdry or diffuse if I don’t wanna go out with wet hair in the winter. I’m looking forward to learning a lot from you!
I think your hair looked the best with the denman brush. I bought one a couple years back and never use it because it hurts! It tangles my hair. I can’t explain it. My hair is a little longer than yours, thick, course and I get mostly wavy hair not using any brush. I’m think I could get more curls and better defined curls using a brush. Which brush would you recommend for me?
I have thick 3A and 3B curls and high porosity. I like the denman. I used the bounce curl one for like 6 months and I could not figure out why my results looked off. I hated the shrinkage, and like you said it forces my curls in a certain way and it wasn’t until I went back to the denman did I realize this. I do like to use the bounce curl on my fringe instead of finger coiling but that’s about it.
Denman D3 was the better brush, could you do a review on the D31 I love this brush but my hair is very fine but does give lovely results but you don’t hear many people mentioning 😊
I have the tangle teezer. Never thought to use it for style. I use it to detangle. May try it to style.instead of buying thst denmam brush because shes a bit pricey haha
I really love your videos and have learned so much! I did want to let you know that the discount code for Bounce Curl brush is invalid per their website but I can try another time. Thanks again!
I'm a big fan of the Denman brush, it really speeds my routine along. But I didn't realize there were other types of curl styling brushes! I think if I was going to get a second brush, I'd probably go for the weird looking one at the end. It seems like the most different from what I already have, and I'd be interested to see the differences in the results. Even with just the Denman brush though, I'd never seen anyone do the handle coil styling before. I'll have to give that a try! Thank you for the inspiration! :)
Hi gena. I'm sorry to take your time. So basically my hair is between 2c to 3a and now i use normal shampoo sunsilk which is great for me and same brand of conditioner. Secondly i would put hair mask from my scalp towards the end of the end and wait for 1 hour. Then i also hair brush which now i might change after seeing your videos but coming back to the point i use curling cream i think is like a gel. Last but not least finished it up with serum then pineapple hair style at night. Oh yeah forgot to mentioned i also apply oil before washing my hair my favourite coconut oil. Ok the problem is this eventually help me but at the end i don't find all my curls have separate like last time but still 50 percent of my hair has separated i use the gel again which help me and next morning same story look very dry unlike the other perfect curls on my head. So what do you think is wrong I'm sorry i can't afford something expensive as i based in Malaysia so something below 15myr is good budget so all my products currently below 15 but i think is not the product is my routine fault help me out please
I found that the bounce curl creates poor shaped kinked curls for me: I noticed the same with yours in this vid with this brush. I'll stick with my trusty denman for now 😊
The "dense bristles" really don't cause damage and breakage to the hair? 'cause I've read some articles that say that this kind of bristles can only be used on dry hair cause on wet hair can cause a lot of damage. Unfortunately for us, curly people, we can't brush if our hair is not wet So... It really gets me concerned
That's my question as well! I'm also 2B and most curly techniques do not work for my long, dense wavy hair at all. I have a Denman, which is now just an object on my shelf gathering dust. I'd like to see how they work on long loose waves before I buy another one I'll never use again.
Question- I’m getting a perm and I’m ‘old school’ and was taught to not brush. I have long hair (mid back and a bit lower) and I’m getting a spiral perm. I don’t ever have issues w brushes so I’m just wondering if you’d have an idea what would be best. I have a lot of hair but not extremely thick.
Question - New in my curly hair journey (just thought frizz was normal for so long and with wave pattern of 2b-2c it's not SUPER curly) and I have a question about brushes and brushing... everything I'm seeing it says NO BRUSHING unless your hair is soaking wet with product on it but I have seriously, baby fine hair and I hate the feeling of tangles it gets even when I pineapple it and use a satin pillowcase. I've been using a very wide-tooth comb on days 2 and 3 before refreshing but some times I just have to brush (it feels SO good). The brush I have is a Wet Brush with soft bristles. Sometimes on day 3 I even let it look 1930s soft curl after brushing. I feel like this pulls less on my hair than the wide-tooth comb which is very rigid so I'm not sure what the big deal is. Can someone help me with understanding this?
I like the results with the briogo and bounce curl. I like bigger clumps, my curls last longer. Doesn't Wet brush have a brush like that briogeo one ??
@@Star-dj1kwthey look alike. I just bought one and a tangle teazer. The bounce curl, I still want, but it was 32 bucks with shipping . Idk if I will ever buy it lol. My 2 that I bought were 20 bucks total.
I have the bounce curl defining brush and sometimes the bristles get stuck on my hair. Any advice on how to prevent this? My hair is wet and fully saturated with product so there's plenty of slip.
I have all but one of these brushes and I keep trying but so far I must be doing something wrong. Maybe it’s because my curl pattern is naturally in different directions so when I try to brush them into place they just revolt lol. Plus my hair is super long and I think I might just get tired by the time I get to the top where it needs it the most. I have tried only brush styling the top and still meh. Help!!!!
I used to years ago, but I no longer use it or feature it on my channel because of their poor business practices. I also think it's too harsh on the cuticle now that I've learned more about hair.
@@GenaMarie thanks for not sponsor bad costumer service brands because I bought it on September 23 2023 and I never got the brush I even wrote couple emails until today any response is very sad companies like that still on the market scamming people 🥲
@@GenaMarie yeah, I have seen people make comments that they ordered from Behairful and didn’t receive their brush. Personally, I had a positive experience. IMO just about any brush maker with the dual bristle style will have a similar tension as the Behairful. I bought a mini dupe for it on Amazon that I am hoping will for my curly bangs at just $9; I haven’t tried it yet 🙄😂
@@Star-dj1kw For me, it's the boar material that is too harsh on the hair. I find that the synthetic material of the Briogeo and Bounce Curl brushes is less abrasive to the cuticle. But yes, the tension is similar.

I mislabeled the brushes at 17:42, and the text labels for the Briogeo and the Tangle Teezer brushes should be flipped. Sorry about that!

That's my question as well! I'm also 2B and most curly techniques do not work for my long, dense wavy hair at all. I have a Denman, which is now just an object on my shelf gathering dust. I'd like to see how they work on long loose waves before I buy another one I'll never use again.
Denman ❤
I think at 17,47 you mislabeled tangle teaser. I have 3 out of 4 of these. Lol
I stopped using a brush and only use wide comb.
Do you put gel in before or after brush styling?
yep!
Hi in this video have you broken the gel cast/dried your hair ?
Yep!
i will always remember a hairdresser saying that denman brushes are the best for curly hair
I have 2a-2b type hair. Is a denman brush better than a wet brush?
❤❤❤
What works for wavy hair?
Any of them!
I like the results with the briogo and bounce curl. I like bigger clumps, my curls last longer. Doesn't Wet brush have a brush like that briogeo one ??
Good question if the Wet Brush’s dual bristle brush is an excellent quality dupe for the Briogeo/Behairful style brushes.
Are you picking up too large of strands? Are you due for a trim perhaps?
For short hair which styling brushes ?
Any of them!
Help!!!!

Gena did you use the behairful brush?
I think the Behairful would be comparable in to the Briogeo. They are the same concept- dual bristles.
YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS
Hi!Do you know a dupe of bouce curl brush ?
Nope!
I hate my bounce curl brush and there’s no return policy. I have 3a hair
Hi! I could buy it from you of you want😊just let me know!
The purple tangle teaser is aimed at 4C hair. The pink TT may have been more useful.
Dennam hair is fuller
Less I use hair brushes the better
