awesome haul on this one. the best prize run I've seen so far. legendary! i legit dream at night still (age 32) about doing a run like that, grabbing all the new games!
Internet ruined everything they should make it so you can't even look at the internet and tell your 18 at least give kids a childhood not have them connected to the world and you know have them just have a real childhood rather than just living on their phones and being little drones addicted to phones and being phony on social media.
Man howd you end up on the show? The 80s and 90s seemed like such a great time to be alive, i was born in 95 so i barely caught the end of the 90s sadly
after watching this... its time to go outside and play.... wow the funny side of it is that when your young, you want to grow old, now that your old you want to go back when life is simple and fun, just play around....
I was 7 years old in 2nd grade when this show was on air. I use to watch it every morning with my brother, and sister before school started at 8 am. I use to droll over all the NES games, wishing I could been on that show. I could of probably won too I was a video game wiz. Started playing my mom an dads an Atari 2600 at 3 years old, and got my NES/Mario 1 combo set on Christmas in 1990, with a copy of Mario 3, and the Legend of Zelda. My uncle was 15 years older and he gave us his copy of Mario 2 the same day. He lived at my grandmas house, and we would go there after school until my mom got off of work in the evenings, my dad worked afternoons. We would always play his games.
+SamGuthrie1977 Times were simpler. No Social Networks, no Smart-phones, no youtube. I remember, most guys, who were teens, back then were all about sneaking off to parties, Concerts, and midnight showings at the the Cinemark or making out with their first girl in the back seat. Us kids were more of SNES, SEGA, Card Trading, Comic book reading, Pog Playing and marble shooting fanatics. Now a days most adolescences are about underage drinking, pre-Merrill sex, tagging, "The Knockout Game". Yes their was things like that, but the ratio was way lower.
+Theshark15z Totally agree. I know things were far from perfect back then. I try to be objective, and I realize I'm a bit nostalgic concerning my formative years. That said, pop culture still seemed much more fun, optimistic, and light hearted back then. TV, movies, comic books, video games... it all had a more positive, fun, and overall decent vibe. Today, things are too cynical, pessimistic, and depressing.
+Theshark15z +SamGuthrie1977 , “I try to be objective”, “Life was so much better in the 80’s and 90’s”; so I’m going to take an educated guess and say you’re a middle to upper class white male born and raised in America. Because if you’re anything other, then you would know that life has improved for everyone else immensely since then. Things are more depressing now because you are now grown up; you actually take in what is reported on the news rather than it being something that blares on in the background competing for the attention of the grownups around you. (And I’m sure you were a child genius who started watching the news and could discuss global politics/economics at a very young age, who doesn’t think back on themselves like that?) You comprehend what cold war means not to just the GI Joes and Cobra world, but to everyone’s world, everyone economy, those who depend on global trade. Some things that have improved: Some illnesses are no longer a death sentence, racism has been toned down to the point that when a cop of one color beats on someone of another - it gets recorded and broadcast. “Attention: we have a colored man in the oval office.” And no he’s not smoking crack like your 'stuck in the 80’s' mind would have you believe (call out to New Jack City fans). Despite having an economic recession, we are not in an economic depression. And to “Theshark”, I think you’re confusing kids with teens; you say teens were more concerned about parties and sneaking out, while kids were about video games and comic books. Then you generalize both age groups as “adolescences” (*adolescents), saying in the present, both groups are into underage drinking, sex, and the choking game. Sure “adolescents” is generally ages 13-19, but let’s be honest the priorities you had at 13 sure as hell aren’t the same when you’re 19. At 13: Newest transformer toy. At 19: Newest set of tits that walk by or if you’re the college type, newest set of Steven Levitt books (call out to economic majors). Or maybe you were playing with marbles at 19, if so, then yes the world might look like a scary place to you now. But it isn’t. No more than it was then. Oh and you’ve got too many spelling and grammar errors in just one paragraph, go back to the 90’s and focus on English class.
Anthony Compton Their always has to be a troll to come in and just spread his self righteous ego. As far as my grammar, I'm not writing a college essay, it was just brief expression of my sole opinion. You judge without even knowing anything about me. Growing up, I was way different from most typical adolescents. I wasn't looking to go get laid and lose my virginity or view what you quote "Newest Set Of Tits" by the age of 19. As far as the news, I hardly have time to see it. The things mention in my first comment are based of what I have seen growing up, not from views from the media, movies, or social networks. Next time ask someone about themselves, instead being a judgmental prick.
+Theshark15z ; *There, *a, -go, *ed, *on, *of. I only mentioned news as something parents had on in the background; I wasn't speculating on whether or not you watched it; I don't care. Judgmental - not at all, like I said before: an educated guess. You don't get mad at the contestants on Wheel of Fortune when they guess do you? "OMG, Wheel of Fortune, that show was so fire back then, am I right? Billy Joel? Anyone?
I remember wanting to be on there, and grab as many games as i could! That show was the best, kids nowadays don't have magic like this. Oh well and that host Johnny, his hype is fresh!
loved this time this was motivation for schools kids to get up early for school. this show brings back soo many happy memories thank you for posting seriously..
This was my morning before school in elementary school...before G.I. JOE and Mr. Wizard. Nostalgia is a powerful drug, even these commercials. P.S. Alex the 18 year old 8th grader 👀
I watched this show as a kid, and i remember being so excited for it to come on. Now.... that im a grown man and went back and watched some episodes, i can't believe i liked it so much. Its so corny and i can't stand it. The commercials are great. I can really remember wanting some of those toys as a kid.
Oh, these commercials. Even a Sears fence commercial is awesome. And whatever they paid Johnny Arcade, they got their money's worth. If he were any more hyped up he'd have launched into orbit.
Honestly I find it really cringey to watch those commercials now. The undiluted consumerism being peddled to kids is kind of gross if you really think about it. But still, I do find it nostalgic also. Strangely enough, seeing some of those commercials triggers vague memories... I must have seen them on TV when I was growing up. Specifically I think I remember the ones for that air hockey puck and also the Batman Forever toys. God, even if it's just a faint memory, I hate to think that data is stored away in my brain somewhere, taking up space. Just imagine all the commercial jingles that someone invented to sell us crap, but we can still remember them even decades later.
This show takes me back to my childhood. I use to watch this on TV back then. I always dreamed about joining the show and winning some goodies like the games and accessories that stuck to the players suit. lol
The energy of the 90s is strong. This was our early days of having cable I watched this after school every day and wanted to be on so bad... But Jamal they played tf out of you my guy smh ✊🏽
Yeah, that's what kids want to see while they're watching a show about video games: a commercial for durable chainlink fencing. (I guess they assumed that some parents were watching the show, too.)
The hyperkinetic 1990, thanx Video power!!! Ninja Gaiden is probably one of the best NES games. Still looking for that other video game review show, one of actors on that show was trying to imitate Jeff Spicoli.
The producers were upset I wasn't using the velcro on the helmet and vest for the game run. All I could think of was grabbing and holding everything possible.
Word. When I was a kid in the 90s I literally had no awareness of people being different races. People looking different was just normal… everybody looks different don't they? Now they want to tell kids how people are divided into different race groups and we need to walk on eggshells.
one of the most magical times ever. just look at the pure nostalgia pouring from this vid. just a very simple time. just getting up every morning to eat cereal, watch cartoons, go to school, come home, eat dinner, watch cartoons, and play video games and go outside. so fun. i wish i could bring back this era with the quickness. i used to watch this every morning. it came on really early. and that 8th grader was a very big kid but i grew like that by 13 so that was 1993. kids grew up different back then....lastly i wonder what happened to those children funded by Christian Children Fund. Used to see it and be so sad as a kid seeing it. iy brought me back. just wanted to add that
He shoulda ran straight for the Michael Jordan cardboard cut-out and slid down the tube with 20 seconds remaining and no other prizes... woulda been epic.
Even better with grown millennials using all the same props here velcro vests early 90's tv cams n all every commercial is for slim jims, Doritos or Mountain Dew lol
This was awesome. So glad the big guy crushed it in the final challenge. Won that Turbo Graphics 16. I loved this show cuz you got to hear about other amazing game systems besides nintendo.
When they are doing the VELCRO® Grab a Game Run I can see this part upgraded for 2018 and the Winner just grabs like one small 32GB Flash Drive Velcro to the Wall and the Host Johnny Arcade would run up and say "OMG! You have just got EVERY GAME EVER MADE INCLUDING SYSTEMS! W2G!"
At first I thought I must have missed the show growing up… Until I got to the end. Then I did vaguely recall seeing a show where people ran through grabbing prizes and sticking them on their helmet and then sliding down a slide at the end. Must've been the show, that's trippy
Cinnemassacre brought me here, this show is kicking!!!! With maximum hype!!!!!!! And the commercials XD I wasn't even speaking yet when this was on ROFL
28:09 - "Video Power is not affiliated with the manufacturers of any video game, system or product and it does not recommend or promote any particular video game, system or product."
The commercials might be better than the show. Except the Sally Struthers one. I remember those as a kid being like "I'm 8, what the hell am I supposed to do?"
Or just buy some of that fine Sears chain-link fence to put up around your yard and keep all the poor people out. This was America in the 90s, ground zero for consumer culture! We were just kids hoping to see a little video game action before school. We didn't need any of those depressing commercials to kill our buzz. Instead, I just want to dream about what it would be like to get on that show and run through grabbing all the video games I can carry.
It must of been cool as a kid watching video power and then while watching commercials you get a psa of how children are worst off than you and a woman says how bad they are to put you in the mood.
That's me! The big kid. I can't believe I just found this! I was 13 there. So much fun. I still have my Video Power jacket mint.
Alex Miller you look ready to kick ass the whole time
Haha u man ur a legend! Greetings from denmark

I'm actually glad you kept the commercials in the video. Such a throwback lol

crazy how i vaguely remember this TV show....havent seen this in decades...
At first I thought I must have missed the show growing up… Until I got to the end. Then I did vaguely recall seeing a show where people ran through grabbing prizes and sticking them on their helmet and then sliding down a slide at the end. Must've been the show, that's trippy
Also. I love how one of the sponsors for the Nintendo show was the Sega Genesis.
Yo I remember this show damn I miss my childhood
Thank you for leaving the ads in
@17:25 Haha J-Arcade was walking a thin line when he asked Jamal if he was looking at his "mushroom" 🤦♂️🙄🤣💀⚰️🥀
The commercials are the real nostalgia....man those were the times
I miss the 90s a lot getting up early in the morning to catch this was great
This was such an awesome TV show, god damn those were the times
I was thinking of this show recently! Thankss for sharing!
Or he just had genuine enthusiasm and heart unlike the soulless crap of today.
Those baseball cards in mint condition are worth a lot
The commercials might be better than the show.
Except the Sally Struthers one. I remember those as a kid being like "I'm 8, what the hell am I supposed to do?"
Hahahahaha I guess beg your parents to donate instead of begging them for a game.
Alex is the biggest freakin 8th grader i've ever seen looks like a high school senior 😅
It must of been cool as a kid watching video power and then while watching commercials you get a psa of how children are worst off than you and a woman says how bad they are to put you in the mood.
We really dressed like that!
@ 18:30 No, his hair is not velcro.
Here in Canada this would air at like 5 and or 6 am in the morning and it was a victory if you got up early to watch it Lol
