My next door neighbor growing up had a '71 Hemi Cuda convertible with the 426 hemi and shaker hood. I never realized how rare that car truly was until I was a lot older. I'm forever a fan of the classic Mopar cars from the 60's an 70's.
@@LifeatSpeed It was "Brite Blue Metalic". He told me it didn't originally have the Hemi engine but he was able to buy one and swap it. I believe it had the 440 "six pack" motor originally. I really wish I knew what happened to that car after my neighbor committed suicide. I think his ex-wife got the car and it would be given to his kids when they got older.
Sounds like a beautiful car. Unfortunate about what happened to your neighbor. I might be able to find out what happened to it. There weren't many built in total to begin with. Plus a friend of mine has a convertible registry
OMG dude! I can't believe you are making a video on this. I literally was up last night until 1AM working on this stuff as I am trying to replace the lower control arm bushings. I gotta tell you... the passenger side was easy peasy. I put a jack under the LCA to take tension off the assembly and saw the torsion bar move just a bit in the LCA hex receiver, grabbed with my hand, gave it a slight twist and poof! It came out like nobody's business. The driver's side... ugh. I am at the point that I got the lower control arm free because the torsion bar is #@$! stuck hard in the LCA side. I did heat & beat, swore at it liberally and still nuttin. I need to find my pickle fork to get the LCA off and then going to try a torsion bar removal tool (on a UPS truck somewhere) also from Mancini. If that fails I will cut it off and buy a new torsion bar.
The process is straightforward. It might be worth mentioning that it is inadvisable to make any adjustment (either way) to a torsion bar that is under load, so jack up the car if you intend to put a wrench on the adjusting bolt.
Nice presentation. I’m looking to give my B body a more sporty ride. Which spring rate would help. I understand there are only 3 rates to choose from. Stock to very stiff. Thanks
For torsion bars there are a lot of options available. I'd call the folks at Firm Feel as I believe of all the companies that offer torsion bars, they have the largest selection.
Thanks! Cool project you havw there! I'm not sure if Schumacher is still making mount conversions or not for that application. If not, you might need to get a V8 K member.
I have removed the lower control arm and struts. then when reinstalling the lower control, the part in the control arm moved therefore I dont know how to locate, (orient) that part that the adjusting bolt rides against?
Typically no, because larger torsion bars have increased spring rates. To get the car even lower you'll need smaller bars, drop spindles or custom torsion bars with a different offset on the hex ends
Unfortunately not yet, it's been too hot this summer to work in the garage. It's starting to cool down, so I should be able to get it buttoned up in the near future. Apologies for the delay

Oh wow! What color was it?

Great video! As a soon owner of the classic Mopar I thank you for this tutorial as well for other videos! 😊

Perfect video, that explane alot for me, one question, where are you buying front suspension parts? note that i have a 1966 C-body, thx in advance,
For C body parts I think your best bet is going to be Firm Feel Inc
Cool video! My 74 Duster's driver side torsion bar randomly snapped while parked so I have a set of new bars on the way.
Wow! That's crazy about your torsion bar.

Good stuff John. I hope to be pulling the torsion bars out of stitches in the next week

Thanks! Still haven't gotten it installed 😞 hoping to be able to get it done soon.

Love the way you explain how to do stuff, sorry to bother, where can I get the tool to remove the torsion bars
Thank you for the feedback! As for the tool, I got mine from Mancini Racing

Thanks man I appreciate the fast response, any other questions can I bother you?
Feel free to ask me any questions
@@LifeatSpeed you familiarized with 3 gem hemi swaps
Will a bigger torsion bar let me lower the front end more than a stock one?

Thank you for this
You're welcome!
Can i use electric ratchet if my car is on the ground, not lifted?
No, you need to take the weight off the suspension to replace the torsion bars
Hey have you installed that power steering box yet?
Unfortunately not yet, it's been too hot this summer to work in the garage. It's starting to cool down, so I should be able to get it buttoned up in the near future. Apologies for the delay
That was "easy". Now i know how to do it.
