      girl same, and my Chem class is completely online so its hard. I mean, he has a video explaining everything we need to know, but for this topic specifically i feel he is missing key points in order to complete the problems. I google "balancing a chem equation, 10 mins in and I already feel 100% more confident on how to do these types of equations.
      Are there any other channels though that you would reccomend for help?

    It always interests me how we all seem to collectively agree that OCT teaches better than most teachers when they're the ones giving depth to a particular lesson for better understanding. The difference in learning the background of a lesson over just doing the process might be a factor. Or that, the prior knowledge we have from teachers made it easier for us to understand OCT's tutorials. Nevertheless, the educational system both east and west are fucked for giving students limited time to learn about something they're not mildly interested in.

    Now I am enlightened on this topic, online classes suck, dude. The instructor always gives tasks without explaining them, it's up to us, students if we can understand the lesson by reading our book or not. Sadly, our book doesn't provide step by step explanation. Ever since online class started, this guy became my living book, lol. Anyways, thanks for everything dude, you're the best! May you live longer.

    I as absent the day we learned this. Over the past 2 days I’ve been consistently asking my teacher for help, yet he never explains anything to me, just very rudely points to atoms and basically tells me to figure it out myself. I’m gonna have the test on this today, so thank you for being more help in just a few minutes than my teacher ever could be in 2 classes + a lab period

    Subbed! Are you for real? Thank you so much! Please allow me to share a tiny story. I used to do poorly in high school chemistry and found balancing these equations the hardest. My chemistry teacher used to hit me for getting bad grades. It was a different time in a different place. I tried hard and somehow barely passed grade 10 chemistry. I wanted to go into STEM, but chose another field of study because I feared chemistry and thought I would never understand it. Many years, continents, and jobs later, here I am in my middle years just realizing it wasn't so difficult after all. I just needed someone with a heart of a teacher. I might just be crazy enough to school and get into STEM. Thank you my friend.

    I'm really confused about when to use fractions and when to use the even-odd method....

    • @ruthpahan
      @ruthpahan 5 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Whenever there's a fraction, divide the odd number by 2, then multiply all of the subscripts by 2, and you'll be alright.
      For example:
      C6H14 + 19/2 O2 = 6 CO2 + 7H2O
      Now, multiply all of the subscripts by 2 to get
      2 C6H14 + 19 O2 = 12 CO2 + 14 H2O
