I've been using Mint for 7 months. Prepaid for the year, 15 a month. I've had No Problems. Has always worked and any service questions have been solved quick and easy. It's a 100 in my book.
Nice review. Very accurate. When I joined Mint a year ago AT&T locked the third phone I tried to move even though it was bought from an Apple store. After fighting with AT&T on the phone for about 15 min they released the software block and allowed the remaining two phones to move. Just be aware the legacy carriers don’t like Mint Mobile and may block you to force you to call and talk to them to get you to release you.
Thanks for the info. I just paid off my Verizon phone so I canceled them and signed up to Mint and it turns out the area I just moved to has better T-mobile coverage than Verizon anyway so I think I'm going to be happy with it.
I am with Verizon and thinking of switching, Were you able to keep your old number? Are you happy you switched? It just seems to good to be true. My current bill is $70 a month and I honestly barely use my phone. Thanks in advance.
I was with AT&T for years and moved to Google Fi last year. Coverage was ok, but their customer service is literally non-existent. Just moved to Mint Mobile today with their 3 months free promo when you pay for 3. I love the concept of paying lower rates by paying in bulk. I think its going to work out great for me.

Wow, thanks for this video. I have the same phone you do, and just got notice from Verizon my bill is going up $6 next month. Like the idea of Mint, but like you, thought 'too good to be true'. Good advice, honest commentary. Although have always had Verizon (and happy with it), not happy they cancel plans I have used just to jack up the price. Considering switching very seriously.
I was skeptical at first but the service hasn't let me down yet. I'm still trying it every new place I go for work. I too was with Verizon, it was fantastic service but the bill got a little confusing at times. Thank you for those kind words. I appreciate it.

I've had the 6 month plan 10gb data and i dont even use close to 10gb lol i renewed for a 4gb year plan for 200 bucks great deal and dont have to worry about it for a damn while.
You are correct, IF T-Mobile works in your area, then Mint is great. I've been on Mint for a few years now. No problem for me. But my family was in a different location that did not have good coverage for T-Mobile. For 4G anyway. So it didn't work too well for them. Now we all have upgraded to 5G phones and are on T-Mobile coverage. Works great. For a month I switched to Tello from Mint. Tello also uses T-Mobile and is even cheaper than Mint and sells month to month plans. Perfect for my needs for one month. With new 5G phones, T-Mobile and Mint and Tello all work great in my area now.
I was already on Tmobile and a low data user, so this was a no brainer. I pay for the entire year but it averages out to 60% LESS per month (plus, I get a higher data rate limit, which I will probably NEVER use all of. The only thing that would make this deal sweeter will be if Deadpool3 has a 4th wall plug/promotion for Mint Mobile! That would be too funny!! 😅😅

Have had Mint Mobil for over a year now. In fact re-uped for second year a few months ago. Service is excellent. Quality of service depends on carrier not Mint Mobil. I have a really old Samsung S5 and everything works fine. The switch over from my old carrier was easy. In fact when I originally switched to consumer cellular from my legacy carrier it was a first class mess taking tons of time following everything C/C told me to do. Switching to M/M took only a few minutes and I was back on line quickly despite M/M saying it may take a while for the actual connection to function. I was offered a choice of T-Mobil or AT&T as the carrier and could choose depending on who had the best service in my area. I did go with T-Mobil as I had their service originally, then through C/C and it was far better than the other legacy carriers I have used in the past in my area (suburban).

This issue for me is T-Mobile's crappy coverage. I have a T-Mobile work phone, and my personal phone is on Xfinity Mobile which piggybacks on Verizon. In the shop where I work, T-Mobile consistently has 1 or 2 bars, while my Xfinity phone will have full bars. And this isn't just at work, Xfinity Mobile on Verizon is just far more consistent than T-Mobile with its spotty coverage.

I am using Mint while my Wife has C-spire we dove down Hwy45 from Tupelo to the Gulf Coast this past Friday and coverage was spotty between West Point and Meridian for both of us then again between Buckatunna and Lucedale, these areas are also dead zones for AT&T. Everywhere else one of us had service.
I currently pay 178/ month for two lines with T mobile. Am halfway into our 2 year contract. Would appreciate suggestions as I think we're overpaying for what we're getting.
It depends. Does Tmobile work well in your area? are you paying off phones like a monthly payment? If the answer is yes to the first question and no to the second question, yes you are. If both are yes, then more than likely yes. That being said, Tmobile did recently buy Mint Mobile so I'm not sure how that's going to work.
@Adrian Reddix - Tech Dad Journey Thanks for your reply. What a shrinking market place this is turning out to be. I wouldn't have known about the acquisition until but a couple of hours ago, watching these videos.
I use a Verizon right now. I am having an issue with my phone like taking forever to load or when I go out of an app or out of like TH-cam or I go out of something I'm looking at you know.
There could be three things that might be wrong. One could be memory availability on the phone. If you have some free storage space (probably 3 GBs or greater), make sure the cache is cleared. If that is not the issue, it could be the phone needing updating. The third might be your service. I would look at a service map and see if your frequent locations are covered. If not, I would consider another carrier. Thank you for the comment. I appreciate it.
Hey there Adrian thanks for getting back to me. I do also get this notification quite often at the top of my phone saying you're dangerously low on space. So I go in and you know clear you know things and you know and then a couple days later I'll get it another one. And my phone isn't used for like work or you know things like that I just go on TH-cam and watch things, Etc. My storage says available space 822 MB. And I have 15.2 GB and then it says below that in a circle says /16GB.
@@julieseidel7044 I would back up any pictures and videos to any cloud service like gdrive or iCloud or something like that. Then once you are sure its backed up delete them off. This might be your main issue. Let me know how it goes.
Hey Adrian, I went to my google settings and then saw a list of services that said Backup and theres something in there that says backup your device with Google One. And it says Use your 15 GB of Google account storage to back up: Photos and videos(stored in Google photos for easy org. and sharing) And a few other things. And then when I click on more details it's got a list of it says Backup with Google One. And then it says backups are securely encrypted and uploaded to your Google account some data is also encrypted using your device's screen lock and then it talks about other stuff.

Still waiting for MM to work. once in a while I can send and recieve texts but it might take minutes or even hours for the texts to go through, today one went through 20 minutes later but the MM phone said it didnt go through. yes I bought a MM alcatel phone. but so far MM gets a zero stars review from me
The low "$15" per month price is really MORE, like $17 because of fees and taxes. (I did not realize, I saw this video and gave a comment 11 months ago.)
Mint mobile is horrible - it constantly throws you off the data and says “no internet connection” …. Tried it for 4 days and had to reset my phone 7 times, canceled and got my refund.
I switched to mint, got a phone from them they sent this pos lg aristo glitchy af came with wrong cord I’m sending this garbage back, just put the sim in my old iPhone seems to be working better, I’ll update you on the return, refund process x my fingers
Please do. I like hearing all people's experience with Mint. The good and bad. It gives everyone who watches a more complete picture of what the service actually is and hopefully Mint can improve on the areas that they are deficient.
@@AdrianReddix I think that specific group would be at least 50% of US cell customers. If you need less than 30 gig of data a month its a no brainer outside of the small pockets that don't have good coverage. I am getting faster data speeds with Mint than AT&T and full bars in places I didn't have before. Would not switch back even if the price was the same
@@I.am_Groot Unless something drastic changes, I don't see myself getting rid of Mint. It's that good. I think more people are trying other companies beyond the big guys because the stigma of prepaid is almost null. Thanks for the comment.
I've been happy with Mint for the better part of a year. It works where I use it. I would test drive it and use it in all of the places you usually use your phone. I hope if you try Mint it works out for you.
@@AdrianReddix It is my understanding that the $15 is only an introductory offer for new customers. I was told this by their customer service. IT is only for new customers. Evidently it goes up after the introductory period. Was not told I had to pay for 1 year to get the $15 month fee
This service did NOT perform well at all. Be careful. My first clue is when I called customer service and the Bot said “Ah Fuck, sorry your having problems!” HMMMMM I tried it anyhow and everyone we called either broke up a lot or if they called us they could not hear us talking. Then it is a Royal PIA to switch your number back!
That sucks you had such a horrible experience. I am glad you decided to share what happened. It gives people a complete picture of the potential positives and the negatives of Mint. I appreciate your input. Thank you.
Sure MINT may be good if $15+tax and fees per month is a good price but there are a small number of other carrier operators with less expensive plans - IF you don't need so much text/talk/data.
@@AdrianReddix There are two of mvno's who offer also low priced custom plans. The carriers are US Mobile (you choose between the Verizon network or the T-Mobile network) and Tello Mobile (which uses T-Mobile network).
I feel data speeds on mint are always throttled down. Mint mobile is not that good. Basic service at best. My first mistake was buying my iPhone from them. Must use there service for 12 months before they will unlock your phone. You are forced to use their service and renewing comes with $14 recovery fee. >>>>>"The Recovery Fee is assessed to help recover Mint Mobile's costs to comply with various federal and state programs, taxes and fees. It also includes a flat fee per transaction to help recover other administrative fees." This is a garbage fee and does not make Mint mobile any type of value. Im 3 months in with Mint and im not a fan. My iPhone is paid in full and Mint will not unlock my iPhone.
So can I really pay month to month with this service getting the 30$ unlimited plan? I have metro which is owned by team mobile that I pay 40$ for unlimited everything, I see that boost mobile has prepaid plan for new customers at 25$ month which beats mint mobile, thing I fear is if I choose either one of them that if I don't like the service that if I try go back to metro I won't get the 40$ unlimited plan back they would charge me 50$ month, it's a gamble I would say.
The way I understand it is that if it's month to month the price is higher. Something could have changed but I think the low price is the bulk pricing.
NO man omg.. this service is terrible where i live. I live outside of HARRISBURG the state capital in a burough omg this service is not good. I get disconnected a lot. In order for me to receive pass code text I have to shut my phone off and turn it back on. People cant hear me half the time. Important calls go to voice mail my phone does not even ring. You can TELL the difference. The only reason i switched to mint was because i get like 10 calls a month. NOBODY CALLS ME except people i do not want to talk to. The calls that I do get are important like my doctor and other appointments. I was trying to save some money other than spending 60.00 a month. I was just on the phone trying to pay my capital one bill the balance and it was like you wish to pay the minimum due... and i was like what... nobody else can hear me correctly. I use to work for Verizon and can tell you they own their lines it is not beneficial for them to let other venders use them and NOT BE CUSTOMERS and because net neutrality is gone they can manipulate those lines any way they desire. I will give this a few more months but no matter how much i like Ryan Renolds i may have to go back.
That's terrible. The price is the best thing about Mint Mobile. If it doesn't work for you, it can be free and be a bad deal. My advice is to find a reliable service that works in your area. I used to work for an authorized reseller for Verizon. In my experience, the service from Mint Mobile probably won't get better in your area unless a T-Mobile tower is built near you. Thank you for sharing your experience. It helps people be more informed before making a decision.
I just got off a CHAT Line with Mint, ONLY because they SAY you can call their main number, and talk to a REAL HUMAN, but give it a try. There's NO "Press This Number" to talk to an operator, or someone in BILLING, as THAT is the dept I needed to talk to. Here's another couple things Adrian. I think I was misled by the sales dude when I signed up for this. He said I was getting a "Senior Plan" at $15/mo, paid qtrly, and never said it was an INTRO Offer, which the Chat Gal told me it was. I believe therefore that it was deceitful, as I SAW the Senior Plan listed on its Shop Plans page in Dec/Jan. AND I kept my phone and number, and now somehow the "Virtual Voicemail" on my Samsung cell is all screwed up, and SHOULD but does not work the same as it did with AT&T, and it's my same phone. NOT a happy camper. So now IF I even keep it, as my first REAL payment is due on 4/30, at now $75/mo. This company still has alot of issues and areas to iron out internally. Back in the 1980's, I actually sold Executone phone systems, so I know a little about that and other computer areas. I'd advise people to be very cautious and a bit wary. $10/mo MORE isn't going to break me, but it is always more about Principle and Business Fairness dealings that count with me. Because of the timeliness, I'll probably pay this invoice, but then SNOOP at other services like Consumer Cellular in the next 3 month period.
That's not good. Transparency is important. I don't like that they did that to you. My philosophy is to be truthful and let people decide if it's good for them. I am glad to know this. I appreciate the information. Thank you.

And it says Use your 15 GB of Google account storage to back up:
Photos and videos(stored in Google photos for easy org. and sharing) And a few other things. And then when I click on more details it's got a list of it says Backup with Google One. And then it says backups are securely encrypted and uploaded to your Google account some data is also encrypted using your device's screen lock and then it talks about other stuff.
@@julieseidel7044 I would go to Gdrive and confirm that your pictures and video are saved. If you have a computer/laptop I would transfer them to there also. You could also save them on a SD Card if you have one. As soon as you confirmed it saved, delete what you don't need.
Is the Galaxy S8 still receiving security updates? I guess it’s ok if you don’t use open WiFi networks
Absolutely not. Last one was sometime last year but I dont have anything important like banking apps or other sensitive information. It's just a second line for business and to give to people I dont want to have my main number l.
No... i have a s8+ .
so far even though the phone shows 3 bars a lot of the time I cant make calls, they said my phone was compatible but it wont work, something about using the in home wifi even though it was working with verizon and my in home wifi, verizon has lost all cell service for me for about 3 months despite me having cell service for 16 years. Still waiting for MM to work. once in a while I can send and recieve texts but it might take minutes or even hours for the texts to go through, today one went through 20 minutes
later but the MM phone said it didnt go through. yes I bought a MM alcatel phone. but so far MM gets a zero stars review from me
Thank you for that. My husband & I have T-mobile. So, it helps
I'm glad I could help. Thank you for leaving a kind comment. I appreciate it.
The low "$15" per month price is really MORE, like $17 because of fees and taxes.
(I did not realize, I saw this video and gave a comment 11 months ago.)
That's a valid point. Those darn fees and taxes.
I use mint
i live in river road Maryland its terrible no service co canal no service Potomac area some no service i want go back to tmobile
That sucks. I terrible to spend your money on something you can't use. I would hope they should do something to right the situation.
My grandparents live near River Road they have T-Mobile and it works
@@ianblumberg6540 That's good to know. I've never been to Maryland...I just might have to go.
Mint mobile is horrible - it constantly throws you off the data and says “no internet connection” …. Tried it for 4 days and had to reset my phone 7 times, canceled and got my refund.
That sucks. I definitely wouldn't want to pay money for something that doesn't work. I'm glad you got a refund. Thanks for the comment.
That is good to know, who did you switch to? Cheers
@@littlebritian2822 back to A t and t…. They have the best data country wide hands down…. I tried them all except t mobile
@@harryo989 thank you appreciate it
I have been boycotting Ryan Renals ever since he started his con-mercial.
Could you say why?
Thank you!!
I'm glad could help.i appreciate you watching
I got this late . It was a good video.
Works for me..
That's awesome.
I saw that commercial too and was wondering how good the service was. Now I don't. Thanks
No problem. I think it's a good service for a specific group of people. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it.
I'm breaking up with Verizon - which is why I'm here.
I've been happy with Mint for the better part of a year. It works where I use it. I would test drive it and use it in all of the places you usually use your phone. I hope if you try Mint it works out for you.
You have to look at it. You have that s8. It don't handle all the new bandwidth that put out now.
You have a point. Thanks for the comment.
I tried Mint Mobile. $15 a month. They go up to $25 a month after the first 3 months. Do not tell you that!
Yeah, you have to pay for the whole year for the $15 a month rate.
@@AdrianReddix It is my understanding that the $15 is only an introductory offer for new customers. I was told this by their customer service. IT is only for new customers. Evidently it goes up after the introductory period. Was not told I had to pay for 1 year to get the $15 month fee
@@pattyworley2071 yeah, I had to pick the year plan to get the $15 per month. Any less months the price goes up.
Thank you.
3:10. Who spends "thousands and thousands of dollars" on a PHONE?! Who do YOU hang out wth? I'd like to see these phones up close and personal.
Like a lot of TH-cam videos out there...way to much fluff info before getting to the point.
Yeah...I ramble a bit much but thank you for the critique. It was helpful. I appreciate it.
Sure MINT may be good if $15+tax and fees per month is a good price but there are a small number of other carrier operators with less expensive plans - IF you don't need so much text/talk/data.
That's sounds good. What are some of the other carriers? I'm interested in checking them out.
@@AdrianReddix There are two of mvno's who offer also low priced custom plans. The carriers are US Mobile (you choose between the Verizon network or the T-Mobile network) and Tello Mobile (which uses T-Mobile network).
@@dallemon15 thank you for the information. They sound promising. I appreciate that.
Which ones?
@@raflim They said US mobile and Tello Mobile.
I definitely understand that. Locking your paid off phone with their service for a year does not seem fair at all.
iPhones suck! Break free. Go android.
@@clarkrobinson9934 I carry both. As long as it makes a call, I'll use shoestrings and tin cans.
@Chezco Correct. A lot of phone charges are pretty standard. Thanks for that input.
@@AdrianReddix Agreed. All the companies charge fees like those. Even cable/satellite bills show it
Mint mobile was bad the internet is sorry
I get it. If it doesn't work for you area, it's wasted money. I appreciate your comment.
TracFone offers a plan very similar. A one year plan that comes out to about $16.00 a month. Service is good.
I didn't know this. I'll have to research it. Thanks for the information.
Thank you.
