google docs does a decent job converting pdf to something text like. i never got anywhere with scribus, but maybe others have had better luck? Anyway there is an idea for a follow on, google docs and scribus.

msoffice is king only in a Lesser kingdom reigning over Lesser subjects. OnlyOffice & LibreOffice are both Emperors Supreme in their own rights.

just a bit of info Okular is not pronounced with long O at the beginning...it begins with OCC short O sound with the k being pronounced as hard C...thus it begins OCC...the ular is pronounce long U, Ulare...OCCUlar...all together is is ocular like the Eye or vision!!!

I’ve had Mint Mobile for a few years. At first, it was pretty good and seemed to work as well as other carriers but over the last year it seems to be getting worse. I have had no service for days at a time when traveling, and as I write this, I have one bar of service at my house any major metropolitan area.

After watching your video, I decided to give OnlyOffice a try on my Steam Deck. I do not have a uni MS Office subscription, but it's good to learn about a good open source alternative. Cheers.

Thank you for Okular! After years of annoying experience with Adobe PDF, this is such a great alternative!

well, from my experience - Google is much more web friendly and the work online is much smoother in Google Docs - in Office, lot of functionality is lost in web app and you must install desktop app. For example - the company migrated (for some reason) from Google to MS and documents were migrated as well, now when I open (on the the web) text document, it's in some read mode, which blurs documents in other than 100% zoom, doesn't have navigation panel (meaning table of contents generated from headers, like GDoc had). Yeah, workaround is to install desktop app, but why is that necessary for simple viewing of the document? There are other inconveniences there, like I've created the document (just for testing purposes during first touch with the environment) and even though I was owner of the document I couldn't delete it - the delete action was missing in right click popup menu - after some time, I've found out that those menus are context aware, so you must be in correct folder / view, to be able to perform some actions.

Sorry for commenting on some old stuff, but I just wanted to say I'm really enjoying these and I'd totally watch them if you started doing them again. These should have gotten way more interaction.

Please compare to XChange Pdf. It's only for Windows, but it's really mighty. For example good ocr with keeping layout. And import data from CSV, fill forms and save each "csv data line" as pdf file with custom name. That is what I need for certificates fir examples. Edit: and it's also withoit subscription.

If I get a Yearly Subscription, of WPS Office *Will I be able to use Excell sheets on 1 or 3 or 5 Devices* My requirement is that when I make changes/edit sheet on my PC on Excel it should be Auto updated on my Android phone & my Laptop at home

I use Acrobat Pro 11 (stand alone) to do scanning of documents to save as a PDF (smallest file created at time, very compressed). I have also use the program to scan forms to create editable documents. As you mention it can be pricey and they don’t offer stand alone version anymore I believe. I have not found any alternative that works as good as version I am using thus far, but no further updates it is so old. Should you have other software options let me know to check it out. I am using an Epson 4400 scanner for the documents and it does a good job directly from within Acrobat Pro to do a custom scan and from there it will bring up the Epson scanning software interface. Thanks for the video!

On my chromebook that has Linux, you can install the desktop version of WPSoffice, but MS cannot, and I can't even put fonts in the phone or web version even if I pay

Thanks, very helpful! I think it's pronounced the same as the word "ocular" though, just spelled with a "k" instead. (Meaning having to do with eyes or vision.) So...AWK-yoo-ler.

I have AT&T and it works great in my area. I have used 107gbs this month so far. I also still have the free HBOMAX.
