Okay but GWM done snapped with the P-Series! Stunning bakkie, beautiful interior finish & very competitive price point. We're defs going to be seeing a lot more of this pretty pickup on SA roads!
In Australia the GWM is gaining popularity rapidly. HUGE value for money. Reliability is not much of a concern. A seven year unlimited km factory warranty is offered. Five years road side assist. Here, majority of bakkies are bought to be used as work horses by those in the trades. I have a few friends who have bought the GWM Cannon ( as it is known here). They put these vehicles through the mill. None has any complaints.
Saw the GWM at the mall the other day, man I had the same feeling of when I got in the Raptor. If you don't care what your neighbors going to say, I would buy it.
Eff the neighbours. If they are jealous or talk sh.t behind your back, then they shitty in any case. I am for everyone going ahead in life in their own way😁💪🏽🏎
Negative comments on the P-Series are normally based on those who have not driven / experienced it yet. So, if you think your (other brand) vehicle is better, take the time to go for a test drive ... and get a proper view of what you are talking about. You said it: The P-series is a premium SUV with a load bed. 97% of where you drive is on road, and that's why it makes sense. I thought my Steed 6 gave me a lot of features, but this is next level. And those who do the 4x4 thing will install new suspension into whatever they buy anyway, and those BF Goodriches for cred (and those who know will just get the best tyres for purpose).

GWM for city life, Ranger for rural adventures. It's going to be interesting to see how well the GWM ages, because the Ranger has done very well.

If you want to shop around, have a look at the Mitsubishi Pajero/montero sport or the triton on which it is based, or the saic t60 if you have it in South Africa
GWM P-Series is my preferred choice (being a Toyota man heart and soul) with best bang for your buck. Offers 90% of Toyota Hilux capabilities for 60% of Hilux price. Hilux and Ranger is definitely gonna lose sales to the P-Series.

I am seeing Haval H2 everywhere these days and the owners seem very impressed. This GWM is a massive step forward it will be interesting to see how well they can take market share from especially Ford and Toyota. In South Africa there aren't any safety regulations for cars. Look at the Ranger at such price with reflector headlights, obviously safety was not considered here. South Africa is still far behind with technology, hence cars like Skoda aren't available in the country

Value for money is not only measured by the purchase price & spec, but also the useful life you can get out of the vehicle with the least amount of issues & cost of ownership... Between a Toyota Hilux & the P-Series 10 years , 250 000 - 400 000 km from now which one do you think would have visited the dealer more for things other than regular servicing & which one do you think would be worth more at that point?
@@yuanli2490 Nothing is perfect, but you’ll have a better chance in a Toyota... your situation sounds catastrophic though. I’m basing what I’m saying on my own experience with Toyota products of which we have had many examples. For work (family business) we’re currently running 3 Toyota Hiluxs, one 4.0 V6 D/C & two 2.7 S/Cs... two of them are just over 10 years old & over 200 000 km & one is under 10 years old... we work these bakkies hard & they’re usually laden & sometimes over laden. Up to this point we have had no serious issues or faults, they never complain & we especially make those 2.7s scream for their supper when they’re loaded... We have had to replace the clutch on the one S/C just under 200 000 km, but the clutch is a wearable component & they tend to wear faster if you’re constantly laden. Other than that they’ve only ever been in for regular servicing. Before those three the last Hilux we traded in was also a 2.7 S/C (2003 model) also a working truck, when we traded it in it was close to 300 000 km, also had no issues, still ran as sweet as it did as new when we sold it. My dad also had 2 other Hiluxs & a one Ford Ranger before that. No car is perfect, not even Toyota, however I have personally experienced 4 separate samples over that last 20 years & our bakkies work harder than your average bakkie as they’re usually laden & I can personally attest to Toyota’s general durability. Toyota has proven itself over a long period of time... There’s a reason behind the fact that you can’t drive for 5 mins in South Africa without passing at least one Hilux. There’s also a reason there’s still just as many 1990’s HiAce Toyota minibus taxis still jumping red lights with 25 people onboard nearly 30 years later... can you imagine the mileage on those things, as much as South African taxis annoy me, you gotta admire the durability of those things if we’re still seeing thousands of the damn things still on our roads 30 years later... Also if you look on auto trader & sort all vehicles by mileage you’ll find most are Japanese & they hold better value than others... I mean why is a 1989 Toyota Hilux with 300 000 km still selling for R100k? There’s a 2007 2.5D-4D Hilux S/C SRX with 709 000 km on the clock selling for R129k, there’s multiple Hiluxs with around 500 000km selling around R130k... I’m guessing you won’t find that P-Series in 10 years time with mileage like that...
Wow I’m an owner of an GWM Steed, it has never been stuck on the road very reliable. I wanted the Toyota GD6 this year. But wow the Technology on the P-series and interior my money is goin there. Value for Money
Awesome review and video as per usual, Ciro! Lots of info, and had it not been for this video I would never even have considered a GWM; especially liked the "my POER..." bit 😂😂
Absolutely love this ! Wow better then the ranger and Hillux. The P series surprised me, and it feels so much bigger when we were side by side with a Hillux and a fortuner. Wow this car honestly is amazing go and drive it and see for yourself.
Gwm is like Kia and Hyundai was in the 90's , people first had to see the reliability before purchasing it. So time will tell if this brand will convince South Africans to buy it. But for the next decade or so it will be Hilux/ Ranger
I agree. If I needed a new bakkie today. It would probably be an Isuzu. But in 5 years when there are a bunch out of warranty. I will then look at buying one new.
With such specs at that price point and the 5 year 100k km warranty and 5 year 100k km service plan. It's hard to ignore this new bakkie. I mean most bakkie owners nowadays, are 80% on road and driving around town and 20% adventure.
I went to GWM/Haval garage to see this beautiful monster today. It just blew my mind. The interior is to live for. I got excited when the sales person started the bakkie from a distance as he pressed the key as if he was pressing the tv remote to change to some channel. I've always thought bakkie prices are overrated in SA. I even flushed away my dream of owning one. But with this GWM baby...... All I can say is that the Chinese are not afraid of a challenge and they sure can deliver and shake the market. I deserve to have this beautiful baby. I even like the sign in front. I mean the sign makes it look that unique. It's what attracted me in the first place...
Glad to see such an unbaised view which is hard to find among those Australian car channels. People in Australia prefer to pay extra 20000+ AUD for Ford ranger over Cannon because political tension between China and Australia

What I am still amazed about is that the boot cannot be locked. I drive a Steed 5 diesel and that is my biggest complaint and actually a deal breaker with the P series. For the rest it is a stunning car. I have test driven it several times and I would love to have one.
Never thought I would be, but I'm sold on the GWM. I will certainly be test driving it. In Australia you can buy a 2016 XLT Ranger or a Colorado or a Hilux with over 100,000 kms for the same price. Do the sums. There would need to be a good reason for me not to buy the GWM.
Ford has a tougher competition now :) Chinese Off road vehicles, trucks are just getting better and better, and prices difference is huge. Take the Tank 300, with 3 diff lock version that costs half the price of Jeep wrangler / rubicon that comes with only single rear diff lock.
This bakkie got a 5 star rating on the ANCAP in Austraila, that eliminates what I was expecting to be its biggest problem. With good dealer backup and reliability I can't see the established brands holding onto their dominnce for very long.
The mere fact that 80% if not 90 people who buys the bakkies use them on the road and pavement makes me wanna go for the Gwm, because really its a great car it seems
Great interior. Big on standard features. The digital driver display is 👍. Only gripe i have with it is the big chrome grille maybe in black it will look nicer. Big up to this game changer

So I am a big FORD RANGER fan. Got the dream to buy a FORD RANGER one day. I am not a rich man to buy a 500k car just sommer. So looking at this review, i would rather spend my hard earned money on the P SERIES and get more luxury and high tech gadgets. Only thing that concerns me is that FORD has had issues with gearboxes in past and has all been resolved over the years, what issues will the P SERIES surprise us with that will be resolved is newer models, but who ever bought first models that came out is stuck with those issues. If i have to buy right now, i will take the P SERIES. But maybe good idea to wait a year or so to see what issues there is from GWM. Learn from others mistakes, lol.
Well I think GWM has proven itself with the Steed. The P series is in a completely different class at a great price. So well done to them. Bye bye Hilux and Ranger 👋
OK, I know it's an old vid. But it's not a Q on the grill, it's a P ... Other than that, thanks for the review. I find myself being VERY impressed by the vehicles coming from GWM/HAVAL. If they can improve the thirst I can see myself buying one in the near future.
All current stock is sold out...buying one means you join a waiting list. I'm just happy GWM is grabbing the market by the nuts....their SUV range is already proving to be a mainstay, this is going to destabilize the market...Id seriously have to be a Ford/Toyota/Mitsubishi fanatic if i choose them over this at the same price.

Why do you care what your neighbor says?
why care about who will say what ? as long as you see value for money and remain happy...infact your neighbors would be jealous

This is best review I've seen of the GWM P-Series /ute /bakkie/truck !!!!💯 Other reviewers are very bias and did not get into detail like you did.
