    Just found your channel a couple days ago, and I've already went through most of your videos. You do such a great job of putting together the pertinent information in an easy to understand way. Keep up the great work!

      Thanks! That’s a great compliment for me because I really try to balance keeping it tight and keeping it inspiring. For most of these I’m hoping people have to pause and go back because they were having a great idea while I kept talking about something else at least once per video

    I've been running this adventure for around a year now. Your review could not be more on point. This campaign is highly underrated. I also modified how the Yawning Portal is incorporated - each game starts as the players as commoners sitting around a table in the Yawning Portal listening to a bard recount tales of their own adventures - recapping their prior game, setting the scene, then 'flashback' to the adventure itself. Since each adventure is historic, it's great to look up all the real-life lore of each game and share it with each group. For example, explaining that White Plume Mountain was part of the authors portfolio to get the author a job at TSR or Gary Gygax's philosophy that each Against the Giant's module was only a framework and the DM was expected to give it personality, much like how player's give personality to their class and race.
    I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos on this.

      Wow, I love the in game and out of game context you're bringing to this! It makes me want an anthology where we get that historical view and have the adventures/game evolve along with our player characters. Feels like a real missed opportunity on WoTC's part, though there's a history of D&D book on the way it would be even cooler to play through that history than just read it.

    Hey great video! Clear and concise. Spot on advice. I usually have TYP shut down to have the entrance to the Dungeon cleaned. The well/tower itself is a health hazard and must be cleaned before he can reopen. So adventurers come in expecting a lively joint only to see pissed and losing money Durnan. And a dungeon they can't CURRENTLY enter.

      Thank you! That's a great fix. I always like adding those sorts of more mundane details to my fantasy world. I can totally see Durnan out front chain smoking as he complains to Mirt about the Waterdeep bureaucracy. Somehow, at least to my mind, stuff like that makes the world more rooted and believable

    You have such great timing! I was looking into this or Ice spire as my second campaign to run now that we have finished Lost Mine. Great stuff!

      Amazing, thanks. The walk through will come out every Monday, when are you guys starting? I’ll get into more in the videos but I pulled some pieces of DOIP into my sandbox with this and I think there’s some easy connection points. If you have the Essentials kit I’d keep it handy to add some variety or to pull out a sort of one shot those nights where a player can’t make it

    Any good tips for a group of first time players (with a first time GM?) - I've started watching over your Lost Mines of Phandelver DM guide, which is great! I think I want to run that for them... however, is it worth giving them a tasty intro in a clean exciting one of game?

      If you’re not sure if they’re interested in a whole campaign I’d run a one shot. I’ve gotten good feedback on my Eyeless in the Dark but there’s plenty of options out there. If you have a group that’s down then I’d just kick off LMoP

      @@RdotDoyle Thank you! Difficult to tell at this stage, I know one of them is certainly keen to kick off with LMoP - they got given the starter set by their fiance. I'll definitely check Eyeless in the Dark; is it on GM Guild?

      Yep, DMs Guilds and there’s a big walk thru on the channel.

    I absolutely HATE the "epic years long game" idea. It never works when you have a adult life with kids and full times jobs.

    • @RdotDoyle
      @RdotDoyle  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yep, better to structure things as a movie, a trilogy, or maybe a tv season. If you get the green light to make more, awesome, but there's no guarantee that things don't get canceled abruptly
