In a weird way RE7 has the most accurate name compared to the previous games. Resident = a person who lives somewhere permanently or on a long-term basis and Evil = profoundly immoral and wicked.
Since Johnny didn’t play online during the game sections where characters meet up like Leon and Ada during the campaign another player as Ada can help you with your partner as well it’s neat
Yeah If you manage to find another player who just happens to be playing as Ada in the specific point in that chapter and is willing to find other players to partner with.
Honestly, this game is legendary to me for one reason: Agent. Agent is probably one of the weirdest, most random topics in my scope of gaming trivia, and every time I tell someone that doesn't know RE6 about him, they're usually left completely baffled. Agent exists as nothing more than an intangible ghost that wields tangible bullets, and he straight up teleports to get around the fact that the devs either purposefully or accidentally disabled most of his interactive triggers. He is by far the most mysterious character in the franchise, and we will likely never get a follow-up as to why Ada travelled with a ghost.
Seriously, when I first played Adas campaign, I was doing it as the agent while my friend played Ada. We were both baffled at just how little the agent could interact with the world.
Yeah, Agent was very transparently a tacked-on inclusion. At launch, there was no co-op in Ada's campaign. It's why her story has more puzzles than the others, it was the only one not designed with co-op in mind.
8:17 I’m glad you mentioned this. I was watching a play through of this game and by the time shit went south on the airplane level I was like “Jesus anybody remotely around Leon and Helena fucking die (especially civilians).” It only got worse from there as the civilians who Leon and Helena were simply watching evacuate were killed when the city got infected.
Sherry actually also got a bit of anti-aging from her exposure to the G Virus as well, not just a healing factor. This is actually shown because despite the fact that Sherry looks a little younger than Jake, she's actually like 4-5 years older than him.
@@Blackhaze-gm1yj you've never met a 20 year old drug user from a war torn country before. Those things age a person separately. Together? Yeah, Jake's actually looking pretty decent.
Someone actually knows what "Undercover Brother" is!! I never thought I'd see the day that it was mentioned, definitely didn't expect it to be in a resident evil video. Keep up the great work Johnny.
Honestly found this game enjoyable even in single player wayyyy to long but for most of the game I was having a really good time. Initially went in with the mindset that I'd hate it but was suprised that I actually enjoyed it.
@@DinoDave150 there's a another reviewer named Nerrel who actually makes a good point about "crushed black and bloom" used in RE6. I highly recommend watching it.
Great concept and gameplay, horrible design and execution. Likely held back by the hardware. In the is something incredibly magical, but it’s held down by a lot
I’ve actually considered trying to mode it up better, like having the enemies damage and death animations look better and change some of the terrible sound effects
Is it a good RE game? Definitely not. Is it a decent shooter that can be fun? Yes. So while I will always put it bottom tier when ranking RE games, I did Platinum the game. 🤷♂️
@@danielthomas7193 Well Resident Evil has like 27 games at this point, with gameplay all over the place. It’s honestly a brand I go to for different experiences.
@@night1952 it feels awful to play? It has best combat mechanics in the series! The problem is that people don’t learn how to use the new mechanics, which to be fair, are very complicated and not easy to pick up.
I’ll be honest I can never hate this game. I understand why long time fans wouldn’t like it but playing co op with a friend is seriously one of my favorite gaming experiences ever. It’s so unabashedly over the top yet taking itself so seriously that we honestly never stopped laughing.
I mean... man I want to like this one. But after looking back at all the previous classic horrors and hell even after playing 5... I just couldn't get the past the most of an identity six had... was it's controls and gameplay. After that... I gotta be honest it just disappeared on me
Been playing the games for well over 20 yrs now and RE6 is a MUCH better games than 5 and all the spin offs. They returned to the original style with Remake 2 and honestly, I didn't like it one bit. Other than the fact it looked pretty, it was so boring. It seems to me that the people who bitch about games moving away from the 90s style generally didn't grow up with it. Otherwise they'd remember how stale it got by Code Veronica and how fresh RE4 was and how disappointing RE5 was and still is.
@@MaximumDong I did. Halfway through Leon's campaign I decided to team up with randos online and I actually got perma partner by the second chapter of sherry and jake's campaign. I guess he understood I got stuck in a bs corner multiple times so he didn't leave. He even managed to show me I could skip the assault rifle cause I get it for free. The thing is... that's the only thing I remember from the entire game. I don't remember a damn thing minus ada's "birthday" (gross) and this regenerator wannabe, and not in a good way
But also today with so much content being cut out and even the legendary Nintendo releasing games with most of their content missing. RE6 for all it's faults is a game that did have a ton of effort put into it and has more than enough content to justify it's price.
I remember back in the day when DmC: Devil May Cry was coming out there were rumors that Vergil will transform into a dinosaur in the story. Turns out the rumors were correct but it happened in RE6 instead.
Chris was hands down my favorite campaign, it didn't tried to be anything else than an action packed experience and that's why it feels the most focused, it was hella fun and also has the best final boss fight in the game
@@Jetanium ”always wanted” meaning for a long time. John played RE4 on the SGB years ago. I already knew he loved that game. They never got to any game past that, so I wanted to know what he thought of the games after 4 for a long time
I actually preordered re6 myself, and while I don't think it's the worst game ever, I do agree with most people: Leon has the best campaign, Chris is the stinker, Jake is kind of interesting, and Ada is just there like always. Mercenaries is pretty fun though
I played this game co-op so it may have affected things but for what it was we thought Leons was the weakest with too many insta death and cinematic for cinematics sake action and walking scenes, Chris' was fun when we leaned into it fully as a trashy military shooter, and Jakes was the most fun. We didnt play Ada's lol
At least it wasn't an FPS. Imagine the next mainline Halo is a top-down shooter, or the next Street Fighter is in first-person (they toyed with the idea a bit before). It's a huge turn off regardless of its objective quality, good OR bad (bad imo).
Disagree, Leon started great but went downhill. Jake's was the best, but honestly, as un-Resident Evil Chris' levels are, we had a lot of fun with his.
18:38 Dude I WISH that happened to me during my playthrough. That's one of the most brutal in-game deaths I've seen since it's atleast half organic since the vehicle itself was scripted. I hate this game but that would've been the highlight of any RE game I've played.
One of my favorite and absolutely ridiculous memories with this game was when it first came out, I accidentally picked the highest difficulty so I opened my game to Co-Op. And a random Jake joined my Jake/Sherry campaign. Every character has a melee weapon that's dedicated to them, Sherry has a stun baton that is lowkey really powerful for no reason, but the best melee weapon is Jake's. His is literally just his fist, kung-fu like his father, and he has legit combos and strings and it does so much damage. The Jake, played through the entire Jake/Sherry campaign with me, and he ONLY USED HIS FIST. It was fucking beautiful watching this guy make a beeline to every enemy and square up with them, even the goddamn Ustanak. The funniest few hours I ever experienced with a game. I hope that Jake is having a good life.
RE6's combat system deserves a way better game than what it's trapped in. The game can unironically have some of the most satisfying and visceral gameplay and movement I've played in a third person shooter... when it decides to work.
Mercenaries is legit fun. The campaign is legit exhausting and embarrassing. I can't play that for more than an hour without needing a break. When everything is exploding then nothing is exciting. The game has zero damn chill.
@@propheciThe self-seriousness is intentionally overdone as a joke. It’s emulation overly edgy 2000s films and mocking them. Same way RE4 was 80s action and RE5 was 90s action.
I've always said that each campaign in 6 should've stayed in one location. Sherry and Jake in Europe, Chris and Piers in China, Leon and Helena in Tall Oaks. Then you have Ada's campaign to tie them all together.
14:56 In my experience playing online, that would be because apparently each player has their own items on the screen. What i mean is that if P1 picks up a kets say herb, P2 can pick the same one up.
This game actually has a lot of interesting features that you can't experience anymore. Campaigns intersecting with another pair of players. An invasion mode where you invade other people's campaigns. A horde PvP mode. A deathmatch mode where you respawn as a zombie if you die, probably the basis of RE: Verse. A 1v5 mode, that was like DBD if your goal was to kill the boss. This game was pretty forward thinking with multiplayer as some of those could have been a standalone ongoing game.
I love this game, honestly. Have played it co-op with multiple people for many, many times. It just plays so smoothly once you get into the moves. Knowing your counters on Mercs and weaving insane combos with a mate while countering everything is nothing short of amazing. Yes, it's only Resident Evil in name, but this game is popcorn.
Also need to say - A lot of people complained about the greater focus on combat in this one, especially in the Chris Campaign. The game takes place more than a decade and a half since the first Umbrella incident and the change in gameplay style can be seen as an indication of (mostly) everyone's veteran status with dealing with freaky bio-weapons. It's no longer terrifying to them, it's their job to be able to kill these things. Similarly, Leon's campaign is more reminiscent of the earlier survival horror titles because in comparison to Chris, who at this point has been a member of a dedicated anti-B.O.W. organization, he's relatively lacking in experience; while he is capable of fighting these monsters, Leon has spent more time as an agent of the US government and bodyguarding the president more than battling B.O.W.s, and the same can be said for Helena. Also note that he lacks the heavier firepower (at least initially) of the B.S.A.A. Jake's campaign is a compromise, with hints of the Nemesis/Mr. X confrontations from previous games. Both Jake and Sherry are physically more capable than ordinary humans thanks to their genes, and thus can go toe to toe with B.O.W.s easily, but as with Leon and Helena, they are ill-equipped compared to Chris and Piers.
It also doesn’t matter what it’s “seen” as if that wasn’t the goal at all. They just made it to be an action game. Everything you just said is head cannon from you, not an official reason from capcom.
@@jaioncebollero1168 Not really head canon because the games show Chris dealing with years of outbreaks, along with Leon, granted less then Chris but still. It's more a story/character thing, but sure head canon, I guess. 🤷 Also explains why Capcom went with a completely new protagonist for 7 - Ethan has *no* experience with the typical RE shit, so it adds to the horror because you aren't someone who has gone through 20 different end of the world scenarios. Just a guy looking for his missing wife.
I marathoned the Resident Evil series (0-7 + Code Veronica and remakes), and as someone who didn't have to be disappointed as the series changed over the years I gotta say I really enjoyed 6. What struck me, especially coming off of 5, is how good the game feels.
The action in this game reminds me of a third person shooter game Platinum Games made for Sega during the PS3 era called Vanquish. Though I think that game has less nonstop action than this one. Anyway, Vanquish is really good and I recommend you play it if you haven't yet. And if you don't want to dust off your PS3 or Xbox 360 to play it, it's okay because it's also available on Steam and modern consoles.
I’ll respectfully insist on this. But the Revelations games are a good time and I heavily reccommend them! Especially Revelations 2, I’d put it up there with RE4. I’m not kidding
I often forget that I played Resident Evil Revelations on my 3DS a couple of years ago. When I did play it it was a fun time but I don't remember all that much. I even have the 3DS retail edition that came with the misprinted label, I'm sure it will be worth something someday.
About a year ago a friend and I did an almost full co-op run. We had little to no criticisms with the Leon and Chris campaigns. About half way though Jake's campaign we started to get frustrated. The stuff in the lab was awful while trying to figure out room to room progression over voice coms without any idea what the other person was looking at. After that the burn out quickly soured our opinion of the last couple levels. As for Ada's campaign... that was not designed for multiplayer and they shouldn't have bother to give it multiplayer. We got less then an hour in and said "Fuck this we are done here" I really liked the first couple of stories and honestly I think the game could have done without Jake's campaign and been better for it.
@@scribble71891 oh you mean the Island Of Misfit RE Characters? Billy is there, Carlos, Sheva too. Rebecca just escaped only to be thrown into straight to video prison. I image Helena and Jake will be staying there for awhile too. 🤷♂️
Simmons turning Carla into Ada is also what made her mad. Because even in the time when she didn't know any better, and was being Simmons... mind controlled Ada, a small part of Carla was still there, and mad at him.
At first, I didn’t like it near as much as I absolutely loved RE5 (and honestly, I still don’t quite), but I do still love this game. My friend and I played this SOOO many times. Jake and Sherry’s was always our favorite campaign because my friend loves Jake’s moveset and because it’s Troy Baker’s voice, which I love too, and I’ve always just loved everything about Sherry. Plus, we also thought Ustanak was pretty cool as a recurring enemy. We always called him Hoobastank. I enjoy all the campaigns to a degree, but I’ll say Leon and Helena’s is actually probably my least favorite because of how freaking slow it starts, how dry Helena generally is as a character, and the fact that I don’t really like most of the settings and environments in it for some reason. 16:07 Also, I had NO idea you could slide between their legs lmao
My fondest memories of this game were when I played co-op with a friend and we could not stop laughing at the ludicrousness of the action set pieces and how the game never stopped barreling forward. I vividly remember begging the game to slow down.
Finished it. And I pretty much agree with most of the review. Especially on Jake's campaign. The damn thing has the most BS shit in the game and I always skipped some of those parts for that exact reason. 🤣
My favourite part of the game is in Chris's story. I think it's chapter 4 or 5 but you have a flashback to why Chris is suffering PTSD and in the past you find a shotgun. Then in the next chapter, the present, you have that shotgun.... Chris pulls a shotgun out of his past memories. So dumb and I laughed so much!
“Who did Weskar f**k?! I could have sworn he had the hots for Chris!” Clearly you never looked in his desk drawer in Resident Evil 2, both the original and remake… he kept a picture of Rebecca Chambers in sports attire in there… I’m dead serious! It’s an Easter Egg in both versions!
Looking back at my experiences with RE6, it was definitely a LONG journey and one that wasn’t necessarily filled with great moments, mainly because of the hard-to-follow action and insta-death moments. Also, my GOD I forgot how inappropriate this game can get with its female cast… 😣 Lastly, I cannot believe I didn’t see that… a virus in China… that begins with “C”… Yeah, they write themselves… 😅 Or did Capcom predict this? 😳
For me, this game really shined with its co-op. Its the asymmetry that really gets me going, like you're on this covert co-op adventure where one moment you're escaping an exploding boat, then you're running away from a tank, and then in another campaign you're friend gets the ability to shoot lightning! Its just NEVER slows down, so it was practically perfect for my dumb-baby brain. Only big problem with it was really just Ada's campaign (notably played in co-op) and Chris' being a bit slot.
My favorite campaigns: - Chris - Leon - Jake - Ada Reason being that Leon in Resi6 is super annoying and it has my favorite version of Chris (it would be Resi 8 if he wasn't the reason for the story to be so contrived), plus I really like Piers. And honestly, sometimes I prefer Jake over Leon's campaign, but then I remember the lab level. Leon has the most resi campaign, but I can't stand him. The only reason I tolerate the campaign itself is because I really like Helena. But by far the worst character in the game is Ada. She is even more annoying than Leon, I can't stand anything she says. I still like the game, but then I keep thinking of how annoying most levels are.. I know I'm like the only person with this opinion though. Except the Mercenaries. We all agree it's awesome
I don’t mind the action approach to RE6. This game really does feel like the Endgame of Resident Evil, all this build up, all these characters coming together for one…. disjointed conclusion. Slowing it way down with 7 afterwards was the way to go.
Resident Evil 6 was a prime example of a well-known video game series where it hit rock bottom in terms of critical reception and the developers had to realize what went wrong.
@MarioMouse826 yeah, where Capcom made a 180 to fix what went wrong, SEGA's solutions are akin to a health monitor where they hit rock bottom, go up a little, and go back down.
Actually that's not why RE7 was a change. RE7's change didn't have to do with 6, 6 sold super well and they were planning on a sequel fairly similar but more focused (Only one campaign). RE7 changed primarily because Jun Takeuchi, who led 5 and 6 into action, got bored of action personally and wanted to relive his origins working on RE1. It was one man's decision that made RE7 what it was, not a response to 6's reception. That's a retroactive take, that 6 was like a Sonic 06 disaster. It wasn't. It wasn't even a Metroid Other M disaster, RE6 sold well, Other M didn't.
Ah, I remember this game. Me and a friend played Chris and Piers campaign, and we got so confused on the last boss fight when Piers gets his arm changed through the virus. We died about 10 times before realizing Chris was supposed to crawl and move in the next sequence, while Piers was holding the monster at bay. It never gave us any hint he was supposed to crawl, or even able to crawl. We were pretty annoyed.
Resident Evil 6 has the distinction of getting me into the Resident Evil series, not with the game itself, but the bundle it came with. Resident Evil Anthology for the PS3, which was about $80, and came with Resident Evil 1-6. Probably wouldn't be a fan if I hadn't stumbled upon that at a Best Buy.
Resident Evil Damnation is a fucking awesome animated movie with beautiful animation idk what you are talking about. Decent plot and great action. Ada was the highlight as usual wherever she shows up. Her 1v1 against the President was amazing and showed you how much the animators truly cared for what they were doing. No Resident evil Media comes close to it. I loved the ending when the Two Tyrants went into stalker mode chasing Leon and Sasha
I've been a RE fan since the beginning. In my mid 30's now and for years I've always said 6 is terrible. Now, as I've aged however, I dont take entertainment or fiction too serious. I embrace the fun and the cheese and have learnt to love this game. The Mercenaries mode is the best in the series imo
I absolutely, wholeheartedly, unabashedly love this game precisely for how over the top it is. I can understand why it's polarising and why it's not for everybody. It's got gallons of nacho cheesiness. But I'm an American and I love cheese. God, playing this game with friends was fun as hell, but even alone I find something to laugh at. On the subject of multiplayer, it is amazing when you have someone who shares your type of humour who also loves to riff things. "So, where to now?" Me, aiming at propane tanks beneath our feet, "The hospital." "NO-" *bang* This was the first game to make me aware of Troy Baker and Laura Bailey, voice actors who I've come to enjoy in a number of roles. I'd heard them before, like Laura as Trunks for example, but it was here I would pick up on their voice and try and find them in everything else. I guess, yeah, it was when it came out and most of my friends were as into it as I was that my enjoyment is more out of nostalgia. But I'll at least play Leon's campaign myself every now and then and still enjoy it.
I play through this game, about once every other year. I love how the combat feels. This is not a good Resident Evil game but it's not at all a bad game. If you think this is an actively bad game, you probably also think aliens is a bad movie because it's got too much action and not enough horror. RE6 is about a 7 out of 10. Graphics were good, music was good, gameplay was Very good, and story was ass. My best friend had never played RE6 and avoided it like the plague but after we played 5 together, I convinced him to play 6 and now he's aware it's nowhere near as bad as he was told. (Note. Wrote this before actually watching the video.)
happy 10th anniversary resident evil 6! :3 i actually remember reading about 6 and being hyped about leon returning & being shocked about him killing the president(as well as thinking ashley was going to be in it forgetting the series has it's time take place around the games release, would've preferred her over helena.),think the series problem with oddly leaving characters out shows with how big the story was trying to be for old and new that i would love to see the series actually try again outside mercenaries/spin off's. like with how in chris's story jill(find it odd she wasn't involved considering chris nearly lost her but guess she was still recovering from 5.)/carlos,barry or rebecca(who was confirmed to be in the b.s.a.a at the time/her return in vendetta.) could've been helping him, instead of jake(who's just donte let's be honest/feels like wesker should be revived or excella should've been kept alive to make his fanfiction concept believable .)sherry coming back should've had her with claire(a trio of her, sherry and leon would've been nice with how much they protected her like a little sister.:3) or billy/ashley making a surprising come back and with how worldwide it was starting to go would've loved to see sheva(who was originally going to be in 6 instead of a mention.) & josh return.
Honestly one of my favourite RE games. Sure it’s not scary and it’s so ridiculously over the top it’s funny but the actual core gameplay is too much fun. It’s the only game I can think of where you can roundhouse kick a zombie in the fucking face and then fight a super T.Rex defence minister in a boss battle that takes two hours to fully finish. It’s fucking radical
Yeah, I know it’s not the same as the other entries, but I friggin’ love this game. It’s so gloriously stupid, it’s a wonderful creature feature, kind of reminds me a lot of House of the Dead if I’m being honest.
I will say, RE6 is personally my favorite RE games, I love how the story for each campaign requires you to connects the dots, the gameplay is fun, despite some problems, but I did love it. Despite it has more action, I had a few horror moments, especially in Leon's campaign, like the first chapter, and the moment where you help survivors, and a hospital truck crashes, and I got crushed by it, my reaction was "WTF?!"
I remember seeing a copy of this game thrown on the ground outside my home and nobody ever picked it up or tried to take it. As far as I know it’s still there to this day.
@@DinoDave150Eh not really. Rev 2 has the design of 4 and core strafing movement of 6, but none of 6’s combat. Or even 4’s for that matter, it’s just a weaker RE4. And Rev 1 is just a weird mishmash of RE1 design and RE4 design that doesn’t work.
Sorry to say, "The Family", also referred to as "The Connections", is still unresolved and still mysterious with next to no details beyond "hey here's a new character or antagonist working for them." Straight up just made an endless antagonist faction to not run into the "oops we killed Wesker" problem again.

Man the level design in this game is such a mixed bag to put it nicely but the enemy encounter segments and mercenaries mode especially with this games combat mechanics is where I always felt it excelled at.
This was the time Resident Evil fell into the same trap a fellow Capcom series (that being Dino Crisis) ended up in, going from survival horror to a more action oriented, cinematic type of game. It really did feel like Capcom was just chasing trends at the time, instead of focusing on what made these franchises great to begin with, and the hiatus that Resident Evil took was much needed, so that Resident Evil VII could make the impact that it did. Though, we may not ever get another Dino Crisis game, because after Dino Crisis 3, with its dinosaurs in space shenanigans, where could they go from there, and, have we really recovered from such an event like that?
They are making a new dino game where I could swear they are trolling us. It isn't called Dino Crisis and it has a character who looks exactly like Regina but with a Russian accent. I forget the name but it was just announced at Sony's last State Of Play.
Tbf, at least RE's action games were good. Dino Crisis 3 was just awful. RE6 is action, but it's fairly good action. Dino Crisis 3 isn't a good action game, it's not even mediocre. Even Silent Hill Homecoming is better.
Honestly I'd rather just play RE4 & RE5 back to back again and again than replay the main ones in RE6, because at least RE4 has balanced survival horror and action oriented, and RE5 tho not very scary but fun action with it not being overboard plus the story was coherent and continued Chris & Wesker's relationship legacy from RE1 & Code Veronica X.
19:58 I'm kinda glad you mentioned how people compare Chris' campaign to Gears. I too saw people making that comparison when this game first came out, and when I finally got around to playing a Gears of War title, it made sense. I see this point, and I agree with it...as a compliment, actually. How I look at it is Chris, being a part of the BSAA, a military organization dedicated to taking down monstrous BOWs and other genetic experiments gone awry...his gameplay SHOULD be a Gears of War clone, more or less. 11:08 I think Jake was honestly just really pissed and needed to direct his anger at someone, so...Chris was the prime target. Plus, shitty father or not, I think it's always a bit taboo to rip on someone else's parents, and Chris...well, he straight up killed Wesker, so... I chalk that moment up to Jake just being a loose cannon. Otherwise, yeah, I pretty much agree with your main points. RE6 isn't a BAD game, but it's very much just there...a by-the-numbers Resident Evil.
I'm glad I played this game, glad I platinumed it during the pandemic, but I don't think I'll ever come back to it. It definitely is exhausting, I basically dropped it two minutes into Ada's campaign on my first playthrough. And I hate that you can only equip three skills at once, even after beating all four campaigns that just felt like a waste.
Jake's campaign was where I started getting bored for one reason; snow levels are so hit or miss to me. I enjoyed Castle Cainhurst from Bloodborne but that is because it wasn't mainly about the snow, but the castle, while the snow merely accentiated it. Frigid Outskirts from Dark Souls 2 was nothing but misery. It's also in RE6's snow level where the instskills got ludicrous. Haos from Chris' campaign was also pretty bad with that because you need to climb up the shaft almost flawlessly.
I only found the beginning of Chapter 3 of Jake's campaign annoying. You have no guns intially, have all these white rooms that look alike, and have to find all those "coins" to put into that fountain thing in the middle. Other than that, I actually am in the minority and consider his campaign second best. Though I usually play as Sherry.
Resident Evil 6 should never be played alone. I played it with a friend recently and it was a huge ton of fun. I usually compare it with a Michael Bay movie that lasts 15 hours. Everything explodes for NO REASON, everyone poses like movie stars, it's freaking amazing XD If you are able to just turn off your brain and enjoy the ride, this is pretty incredible. With a friend. Being alone has to be pretty sad, nobody to share the joke with...
Honestly, Johnny, your criticism of RE6's unusual provocativeness is understandable, but you have to look at the context. It was a trend in the late 2000s and early 2010s for M-Rated games to be as sexually explicit as possible just to show off the power of 7th generation consoles. Mortal Kombat 9, Dante's Inferno, Devil May Cry 4, Bayonetta, Duke Nukem Forever, Deadpool, No More Heroes, MadWorld, House of the Dead: Overkill, Hitman: Absolution, Dead Island, Guns of the Patriots, Prototype, even Halo 3 and 4. I'm surprised neither Assassin's Creed nor Bioshock fell into that trap.
Fun Fact: The name for "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" in Japan is "Biohazard 7: Resident Evil". That's just lovely.
Yeah and Resident Evil as subtitle makes more sense.
And the most recent game is called Virrage.

There's just agents placed all over the area and Ada just leaves them behind
Agent works for the agency of no agency. That is why he is so incapable of doing something as simple as open a door.
Seriously, when I first played Adas campaign, I was doing it as the agent while my friend played Ada. We were both baffled at just how little the agent could interact with the world.
Agent should have been Hunk haha

RE6 has to be the chaddest game of its time. Chris and Piers' bromance is just beautiful.
Sorry but I give the Chad Award to Chris and Ethan in Village.

Great concept and gameplay, horrible design and execution. Likely held back by the hardware. In the is something incredibly magical, but it’s held down by a lot
I’ve actually considered trying to mode it up better, like having the enemies damage and death animations look better and change some of the terrible sound effects

I mean... man I want to like this one.
But after looking back at all the previous classic horrors and hell even after playing 5... I just couldn't get the past the most of an identity six had... was it's controls and gameplay. After that... I gotta be honest it just disappeared on me
@@tsyumamatsuthehavenofguard32 damn that's craaaaaazy, try co op

I actually preordered re6 myself, and while I don't think it's the worst game ever, I do agree with most people: Leon has the best campaign, Chris is the stinker, Jake is kind of interesting, and Ada is just there like always. Mercenaries is pretty fun though
And even Leon's campaign is below many games that came before. Even the best of RE 6 is still much worse than a lot of what came before.
Leon's one is the most annoying, full of insta death moments and the most stupid character (Helena), how's the best one?
18:38
Dude I WISH that happened to me during my playthrough.
That's one of the most brutal in-game deaths I've seen since it's atleast half organic since the vehicle itself was scripted.
I hate this game but that would've been the highlight of any RE game I've played.
I ran into that 3 separate times just in leon's campaign, it's frustrating.
Almost like a recurring gag
Seems they sacrificed decent atmosphere and workable plot for gameplay. 6 has the best control options by far, but it takes itself far too seriously.
The only reason i play the game as much as i do is for mercs. Which is the game at its absolute best
This is honestly of the few Resident Evil games I heard none of at all.
Right? All you hear, if anything, is that it's bad, worst game, end of discussion. Like, it's never thoroughly talked about like in this video.
This is also applies for RE 4.
Guess it means it isn't that good?
I've always said that each campaign in 6 should've stayed in one location. Sherry and Jake in Europe, Chris and Piers in China, Leon and Helena in Tall Oaks. Then you have Ada's campaign to tie them all together.
14:56
In my experience playing online, that would be because apparently each player has their own items on the screen.
"It reminded me of Undercover Brother."
Can't say I was expecting that reference from Johnny, but I appreciate it!
I initially tried playing solo and wasn't into it. Ended up playing all the way through with a friend and had a ton of fun
Doesn't matter what it can be "seen" as if people don't want to play it, though.
Also explains why Capcom went with a completely new protagonist for 7 - Ethan has *no* experience with the typical RE shit, so it adds to the horror because you aren't someone who has gone through 20 different end of the world scenarios. Just a guy looking for his missing wife.
@@OneTrueNobody Good point, kind sir.

We got less then an hour in and said "Fuck this we are done here"
I really liked the first couple of stories and honestly I think the game could have done without Jake's campaign and been better for it.
Ah yes, the one where Chris loses another partner... Chris had a hard life.
At least he got to shoot super electricity out of his arm before he died
The only reason he didn't let Claire die in Code: Veronica is he knows he needs her and Leon to continue the Redfield bloodline.

19:45 that bit got me laughing a bit, thanks Johnny 👍
What's it from?
I recognize the strength it must have taken to not make that C-virus joke.
Sherry doing an RKO in the lab outfit never ceases to make me laugh like an idiot 😂
My fondest memories of this game were when I played co-op with a friend and we could not stop laughing at the ludicrousness of the action set pieces and how the game never stopped barreling forward. I vividly remember begging the game to slow down.
Fun fact: Leon is RE6 is played by Jason Faunt aka Wesley Collins, the Time Force Red Ranger.
Because during this time period all the gaming industry loves the modern action shooter stuff. This is just COD Zombies but with Resident Evil mods.

13:47 Or maybe it could be a prototype B-Cube from Edens Zero
“Who did Weskar f**k?! I could have sworn he had the hots for Chris!”
Clearly you never looked in his desk drawer in Resident Evil 2, both the original and remake… he kept a picture of Rebecca Chambers in sports attire in there… I’m dead serious! It’s an Easter Egg in both versions!
Looking back at my experiences with RE6, it was definitely a LONG journey and one that wasn’t necessarily filled with great moments, mainly because of the hard-to-follow action and insta-death moments. Also, my GOD I forgot how inappropriate this game can get with its female cast… 😣
Lastly, I cannot believe I didn’t see that… a virus in China… that begins with “C”… Yeah, they write themselves… 😅
Or did Capcom predict this?
I can't unseen the Girl giving a Giraffe head in that 6 in the Title of the game.
My favorite campaigns:
- Chris
- Leon
- Jake
- Ada
Reason being that Leon in Resi6 is super annoying and it has my favorite version of Chris (it would be Resi 8 if he wasn't the reason for the story to be so contrived), plus I really like Piers.
Ada is the best character in this game.
I don’t mind the action approach to RE6. This game really does feel like the Endgame of Resident Evil, all this build up, all these characters coming together for one…. disjointed conclusion. Slowing it way down with 7 afterwards was the way to go.
My friend and I were streaming ourselves in co-op of this game a couple years back and we got raided by the facial model for Piers.
My biggest problem with RE6, it didn't have the weapons buying and upgrade system of RE4 and 5 leading to no replay value for me.
Resident Evil 6 was a prime example of a well-known video game series where it hit rock bottom in terms of critical reception and the developers had to realize what went wrong.
How unfortunate that SEGA still hasn’t realized this with Sonic.
10:16, lol! I don't blame him about the DmC reboot Dante.
12:11 Intentionally or un-intentionally, I love how this sounds xD
Literally just sitting down for dinner. My Chromecast was begging to be used. Thanks, John!
"So, where to now?"
Me, aiming at propane tanks beneath our feet, "The hospital."
"NO-" *bang*
This was the first game to make me aware of Troy Baker and Laura Bailey, voice actors who I've come to enjoy in a number of roles.

i actually remember reading about 6 and being hyped about leon returning & being shocked about him killing the president(as well as thinking ashley was going to be in it forgetting the series has it's time take place around the games release, would've preferred her over helena.),think the series problem with oddly leaving characters out shows with how big the story was trying to be for old and new that i would love to see the series actually try again outside mercenaries/spin off's.
like with how in chris's story jill(find it odd she wasn't involved considering chris nearly lost her but guess she was still recovering from 5.)/carlos,barry or rebecca(who was confirmed to be in the b.s.a.a at the time/her return in vendetta.) could've been helping him, instead of jake(who's just donte let's be honest/feels like wesker should be revived or excella should've been kept alive to make his fanfiction concept believable .)sherry coming back should've had her with claire(a trio of her, sherry and leon would've been nice with how much they protected her like a little sister.:3) or billy/ashley making a surprising come back and with how worldwide it was starting to go would've loved to see sheva(who was originally going to be in 6 instead of a mention.) & josh return.
Just finished a college math assignment, now time to relax by watching some Johnny vs videos
The combat is so good in this game. Definitely it's best aspect. I put many, many hours into mercenaries.
I actually love this game. Me and my friend still run through the campaign once in a blue moon. Over the top B-movie action.
Lol.
I’m definitely getting it on sale if I feel like getting it but props to Capcom for taking influence from Sonic Adventure.
I had so much fun with this one after accepting it was a shoot em up action game . I think I enjoyed it more than 4
I think 4 with the combat and movement option of 6 would be sick.
@@toaster4975 The Revelation games kind of do that.
"The Family" and "The Connections" are actually two unrelated groups. The Connections are just a crime syndicate that's involved in BOW research.

do think it looks nice in presentation and while outside the qte's is mechanically well(especially in mercenaries mode.) it's definitely along with code veronica/zero the worst of the main games being when the series went too far with the action that it got old quickly with leon's bad luck, nowhere near as charming/annoying partner and unnecessary amount of deaths, chris being a generic shooter(while i wish jill was with chris i enjoyed piers though and considering we had rachel wouldn't mind seeing him come back with his mutation abilities with his sanity intact sorta like "spoiler"ethan"spoiler".)and jake being as unfocused as the game itself(would say sonic adventure was more coherent even with big as jake just felt like re's version of donte with how fanfiction his origin felt/unbelievable wesker having a kid is when they had that option for it or a successor to umbrella with excella and tricell.).
making the story feel aimless thanks to 4 and 5 ending umbrella and it's closest connection off prematurely(actually remember a 4d film that had a scientist take over a squad through the virus possessing them to keep her experiments hidden from umbrella and with how it ends with her escaping actually would be interesting/a real unexpected pull if they brought her back as the main villain for a new game maybe as the last of umbrella's founding scientist getting research data from all the games locations with the main characters stopping her facilities in teams .).from being a climax to it's remaining threads it's history's direction could've done more with(that i hope 4 remake brings in.) .
to instead just stretching the story out(ada being the biggest case as unless she's revealed to be supplying the samples to an ultimate focal point of the antagonist she might as well just be a rouge the bat esque good guy hitched with leon with more times a agent would realistically let someone live without some attachment to them and especially how bluntly obvious her attraction to him is which i think works like dangerousbride's version of ada & leon give a concept for how it could work.).
and not be a resident evil game with the loss of the campy nature 4 and 5 at least had that made 7 feel even more like a breath of fresh air, though did like the concept of the family(imo think village was when it had a great identity instead of just being the patriots as i love miranda being the origin of the entire series.) and enjoyed the extras like the l4d appearances(and thinking glados in mario was next with how we had tf2 in sonic transformed.).
11:24 I felt like the writers watched Spider-Man 2 on the day they came up with that
Man the level design in this game is such a mixed bag to put it nicely but the enemy encounter segments and mercenaries mode especially with this games combat mechanics is where I always felt it excelled at.
@@danielthomas7193 you mean Exoprimal?
@@hoodedstreetmonk352 yep, that's it!
RE4 has horror in it?
@@nicktoons125 eh debatable. Honestly never felt any horror with any Resident Evil except for the Remake of RE1
@@nicktoons125 except the part with the military gun set up on the Spanish Island near the end of the game
@@nicktoons125 plus the the ship turret and gatling setup on Separate Ways.

Me: (Sees Johnny vs Resident Evil 6) "This is gonna be a fun one."
I very much doubt I was the only one who said “Sonic Adventure” out loud before Johnny brought it up in the video.
You should totally play the revelation games before 7. The first one is to me in the top 5 resident evil games.
19:24 NYC tunnel reference 😱
Resident Evil 6 should never be played alone. I played it with a friend recently and it was a huge ton of fun.
I usually compare it with a Michael Bay movie that lasts 15 hours. Everything explodes for NO REASON, everyone poses like movie stars, it's freaking amazing XD
If you are able to just turn off your brain and enjoy the ride, this is pretty incredible.
14:20 That had me chuckling a bit😂
21:44 I LITERALLY stopped playing the Campaign because of that DARN MOUNTAIN
