You sir have the potential to be a big time vlogger in my opinion. Great personality and interesting videos. I hope you can become as big as MikeOkay because i would love to follow your videos all around the world with loads of differents cultures. Cheers young man!
That was one very empty boat … not really the time of year for cruising between those two cities. Right after X-mas most people that usually frequent those ferries don’t have the funds. And if they visited family in either country they are back home by now.
Its stilla big diffrance between Helsinki, Åbo and Tallinn cruises. Hope they get the Riga one back soon, i really like Riga. Helsinki is for sure the most party one. The Åbo one is quite a bit more transporty and the Tallinn on is quite a bit of a mix. To me the Åbo cruise is like i just want to get away from home a day, and the Helsinki is way more of celebration and vacation.
@RadBoi123 I did not think closer about it. I just ment that it felt like a part of the culture in Sweden shared with Åland and Finland. Yes you are right it's original from Åland and now in Helsinki.
As someone who is basically raised on these ferries and have worked on several of them, these kinds of videos are always fun to watch! Viking Cinderella was actually the largest ferry in the world when she was new! :D
Titanic was: 269meter long, 28.9meter beam, it had 9 decks and a capacity for 2453 passengers and a total engine output of 46 000hp and 46 329 grose tons Viking Cinderella (The ships you are one) is: 191meter long, 29 meter beam, it have 12 decks, 38 600hp and 46 398 grose tons. it takes 2700 passages or 2560 passengers as rebuilt in 2004. It also carries 860 lane meter of cargo So while Cinderella is considerately shorter, its wider, higher and generally boxier.Viking Cinderella was the worlds largest cruse ferry for about 6 months in 1989. Putting all together, Titanic and Cinderella is about the same size. Now the SIlja Symphony, is a totally different beast. 204 meter long, 32 meter beam, 13 decks, 43 583hp, 2852 passengers, 950 lane meters and a absolutely gigantic 58 377 grose tons. Silja symphony broke Cinderellas world record and hold it for 4 years, broken by the slightly larger Silja Europa, that hold it for 13 years. Both ships are shorter and bulkier than Titanic. The reason being partly that Titanic was built for a higher speed, but also partly becasue those two ships was build to handle thick ice.
I was worried there for a while that you would skip on the *already paid* minibar drinks. I was literally in a cabin next door to your cabin on this ship just a few weeks ago to the opposite direction and knew that they were included in a premium cabin ticket. All these ships between Stockholm and Helsinki/Turku are pretty grande and have spa, night club, bars.. Viking Glory is the newest one from 2022 and Silja Serenade is the first ship to have this promenade on a cruise ship which is now on Royal Caribbean cruise ships (they literally hired the Finnish designer) and Icon of the seas was built in Turku, now they are building the next one.. Viking line is a Finnish company and Silja line is now owned by the Estonian company Tallink. These ships make a stop at Åland (autonomous region of Finland) to be able to sell tax free. But the prices on board in restaurants are quite cheap compared to mainland so that people would not just buy from tax free shop and drink at their cabins. Buffet dinners at these cruises are quite popular too, they have unlimited beer and wine.. so these cruises definitely attract certain types of people but are popular among families also. The ferrycompanies are compensated a lot by government I guess because the routes are important for truck traffic. That keeps the prices low and they are quite handly when you want to cross the sea and take your own car with you. Cheers from Finland!
A very good video dude. The main difference with the Silja Line ferry is that its a little bit bigger and fancier. It was the first ship ever to have a walking promenade, which inspired all modern cruise lines like Royal Caribbean to put the promenade on their ships too.
That ferry and mini cruise is amazing definitely better than some of the really expensive proper cruises. I watch a lot of the Japanese ferry cruises like 7 to 40 hours those boats are like wow cruise ships and that one you're on is right up there. Thanks for taking us with you and looking forward to following you now too. The usual things to get on those ferry cruises is sunrise, sunset and that's one of the main things the bloggers do and their audience welcomes and although am new to you Owen you totally nailed that sunrise.
As a Finn who has been on board of these ferries since I was a little kid, it was so fun to see your childlike happiness. I loved your attitude, this is how we should look at things when we travel.
yeah in wintertime it's gonna be mostly elderly ppl on those boats except for friday when it's usually fully booked and nightclub is much more lively and you will have a difficult time finding a seat in the pubs.
"OMG, there are so many steps"...that's exactly what I say when I'm going for a slash at Wetherspoons! 😂 I used to party on these ferries quite regularly in my younger days and it was fun and at that point, the alcohol was way cheaper than it is today.
4:24 There is a sign right there top right on the fridge door saying in Swedish, Finish and English that all drinks are complementary. In the olden day they handed out tickets for free when there was little people on the ship. But then you needed to upgrade to get a cabin. Typically upgrade to the lowest type of cabin was really quite cheap, so no problem. But they are not alowed to do that anymore. 13:40 "it looks to fancy for my liking" Viking Cinderella have been heavily criticized to be to scrappy. They fixed it up a bit. But its still by far the most scrappy cruise ferry out of Stockholm. 19:40 Yea, because when there is no general vacation or long weekend, or normal weekend or anything. The only people that are free to go, is seniors and people on parental leve. That is also why its so freaking cheap. The ship need to go, becasue its a ROPAX ferry, and is also doing heavy truck transfer between Sweden and Finland. So they sell out the cabin tickets for a loss, just to keep the staff on deuty.
I do miss cinderella, that was my 2nd home before covid. when you could a ticket for €5-15 or free mon to thursday. and a ticket for €25-30 on saturday. with bustransfer. @@annicaesplund6613 I know. Didn't close down in the 90 ies though. traveled with it in 2004. It seems Stena- Lina figured they could make people pay more by taking several ferries to go from the UK to Sweden. It will only work until someone else starts up a line of their own.

I have seen your TikTok’s! Am pleased that you have done this as I am doing Stockholm to Helsinki in February. This gives me a great guided tour of the boat!
Fun fact: this cruise (most of the time) is what we use every time to get to anywhere. I live on the islands you passed with this ride 😂 I like this, for you to understand this is basically like making a video on a subway according to me. But, its very cool to see stuff like this be made special.

You can have a cruise for FREE with the cheapest cabin from Stockholm to Helsinki and back if you traveling in low season and on certain days, e.g Tuesdays and Wednesdays, sometimes Thursdays
You can get it cheaper by chose a trip both way with the same ship, done that for decades now between Sweden and Finland on both companies.
