Where do you get those paper overlays ? I see them in videos all the time but they didn't come with my DFAM or Mother-32, and I can't seem to find them online anywhere.
With no midi in I see that the only way to sync it is with CV to the Mother 32 But connecting it to a DAW looks very difficult. Do have any suggestions?
Echo Kraft well, you can use abelton (if you have it) & record your sequences as audio clips , then just trigger them from there. It might not be the perfect way to use it but it will work fine & will give the added features of processing sounds/sequences in abelton's effects & arrangement setting. Reverse sounds too. Just a suggestion. Ps- if someone played guitar & wanted to add that to a song, they would have to play by hand to get in sync. You set a abelton project to the same or close bpm as the dfam and record your dfam clips into the daw, then you can tweak till you turn blue. 😉
If it’s anything like most analog synths with clock/gate ins, you should be able to clock it by sending it a very loud, short signal (like a burst of quick loud noise) to the gate input
They are coming out in small batches here. I go mine from Sweetwater the second week of February. I have seen some acquaintances getting them in Europe, but they may have been ordering them from the US. Sweetwater gets a handful in and they sell out instantly as people have been preordering them. I got lucky.
How's the snare action ? can you get a chunky snare out of the dfam ? I havent heard any chunky snares yet. IMO, the way I make would need at least 2 HPF.
Yea, there is no snare action. Think of it as a monophonic synth that is tuned to make percussive sounds. I guess you can program it to make a pretty interesting snare, but you can't make a really good snare and have a kick at the same time. Might be able to make a snare/Hi-hat pattern, but either the sane will be thinner than you want or the hats will have a little too much beef to them. It is definitely a unique piece.
Love the DFAM... chose the Mavis over the Mother-32 but just noticed this was made before it existed...
Today bought a DFAM, already own a M32 and Subsequent, just need to bolt M32 and DFAM together (2 tier).
1:35 wow nice
Dfam has really a lot to offer.

The paper inlays came with it. Maybe contact Moog to see if you can get replacements since you did not get them. Good Luck!

you can use a korg volca sample or beats to send midi out
Thank you both
I’m buying one 😃
The volcas don't have midi out, only midi in

Sounds like something between Conrad Schnitzler and DAF.
11:22 - NIИ =)
Yea, now that you mention it, the two bass notes does give it that kind of feel.
This thing sort of reminds me of an ARP 2600
How come a lot of people have the dfam?
America only?
Not available anywhere in Europe!
Still waiting for mine in U.S.
A lot of the demo videos may be from people who built them at that moog event.

lecocksportiv because it's made in the USA.
Moog are only producing them in small batches, so it takes time to flood stores with them
I have one... and I live in Chile...😉
05:00 lol
SICK LIVING MACHINE...SOUNDS LIKE MASSIVE ATTACK SNOGGING NINE IN NAILS STEP MOTHER....GOOD BAD INTENTIONS

That example of a snare I'd say is more closer to a clap sound than a beefy snare.
I been making beats before the c-virus hit
I byed one, as companion to my sub37. But, so far im getting headache from that thing
Well, I hope you get the hang of it, because it is one of my favorite pieces.
