The way these two cameras work is totally different. In the 4 minutes, the Pixel takes 15x16 second images then stacks them to remove the noise. The iPhone takes 15 -20 photos of 1-2 seconds and stacks them for exposure (like HDR). Its important to know this difference. However, with the iPhone 12 Pro you should be shooting in ProRAW. This will make the astro photo so much closer to what the Pixel is doing. Cheers mate, good video.

Im not sure its a white balance difference, I think its more of a haze than colour. FYI, the lack of noise on the Pixel is that it shoots 15-16 images and stacks them in that 4 minutes. When using iPhone 12 pro max you are supposed to shoot a raw picture with scene detection off as well as hdr, you get way cleaner pictures, had to compare phones when the person comparing them doesn’t know how to set them up
I think you are missing the point of the comparison, this is a point and shoot comparison for average consumer not a professional photographer one, hope u got it.

To be honest its not tested completely equall , iphone 12 pro Max use the raw mode and its a huge difference also with a startracker or staking it will win is my quess (allthough im waiting from my aussie guy testing it ;) Shayne Mostyn ) The actual exposere time isnt way longer on the pixel but the total time too produce with the stacking takes it too 4min , for now in handuse the pixel wins and actually the 4 or 4xl (maybe with help of neural engine and faster chip) take a tad minor better astro pic then the pixel 5 or 4a. Tho mostly seen on pc, but go experiment and see ;)
It's not only about the exposure time, the Pixel takes multiple shots but because the stars keep moving it aligns them which a very complicated process so, if Apple increased the time without using the same technique you will get star trails or in other words the stars will look like curved lines
iPhone became arrogant with the bigger sensor and made quick in and out to avoid start trails. Pixel on the other hand knows it has a smaller sensor and invested heavily in its algorithm.
I have the ip 12 pro max and I really like the camera, I had the pixel 4 xl before and was amazing too, I like the colors from the iphone more butt pixel’s astrophotography is other level...
Yes I agree the iPhone colours are the best but Google gives more versitility and Google photos can help you a lot in editing your shots and make them even better

Ive got my pixel 4a5g yesterday, cant wait till i can do the same photos, its stunning, quality is almost the same as DLSR can produce
To do the same with a DSLR you have to do a lot of editing but with the Pixel it's just a press of a button

Were you using ProRaw by chance? I’ve seen other comparisons that put the Iphone much closer to the Pixel.
