    Watching your excellent work made it look quite easy and has given me the confidence to do this on my own van! thanks

    The disc/hub looked like it came off pretty easy! They are usually REALLY tight and a hammer along won’t budge them!

      Based on what i read i was expecting more resistance but i didn't complain 😁

    Great job , it would be nice to see the rear drums and pads changed as I've been told it's a sod of a job to do , got to do mine soon though....👍

    Great videos! I bought my first mk6 a few years back and was delighted until it came to changing the front discs....I discovered that all the torx bolt heads had been rounded off on both sides!! absolute nightmare and i'm guessing that's why I got it cheap! was more cost-effective to buy another van and I got an 05 Tourneo exact same colour and wheels as yours.
    The wheel arches were good but the sills same as yours and needed a shed load of welding underneath..inside and visible bodywork looks immaculate and only done 59k as used as a school bus, But up here in Orkney the salt air loves the mk6! I got it all done and now need to change the alternator...another nightmare by the looks of it! That said she drives beautiful and I guess like you it's well worth dealing with the welding for such a reliable daily van. Thanks for sharing your experience, great work and you have a new subscriber :-)

      Hi there, thanks for the comments. My Transit is still going strong. Just changed the clutch and flywheel so it's now driving really nicely.

    @13:30 one little trick I like to use when squaring up holes is to pop a drift (screwdriver, allen key, whatever) in the hole. then you can sort of steer it into place.

    Great video thanks. When you knocked out the shaft/ABS ring, did you have the drive shaft in place still?
    Thanks

    • @ABIMOTO
      @ABIMOTO  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a RWD transit so no front drive shafts.

    Very nice video. And can you add your criteria/reasons for changing both the discs as well as pads? I can see why the pads have to be changed: easy to measure/see wear. But the criteria for disc wear is not very clear to me. Is hard to see a minimum thickness, well unless it’s REALLY gone thin, or is grooved.

    • @ABIMOTO
      @ABIMOTO  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there. My discs were heavly pitted and as a result the braking performance wasn't great especially when pulling a trailer

  • @aurelius1973

  • @Caradonia

    This video is useful up to the point where you smash the disc off using a hammer! That may well be fine if you're replacing both disc and bearing assembly's with new parts, but you've basically imparted all that lateral trauma on the wheel bearing by smashing it off. That's why these are normally pressed out from the back using the bolt method or the proprietary tool.

    • @ABIMOTO
      @ABIMOTO  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never looked at it that way. Sounds like good advice. Cheers

    Did you have to undo all the torque bolts to get the rotar off as I only saw you do 1. Also do you have to take the drive shaft off to knock the hub bolt through??

    • @ABIMOTO
      @ABIMOTO  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I had to undo all of the torque bolts. My van is RWD so it doesn't have front drive shafts. 👍

    • @motomash6143

      @@ABIMOTO I'm stuck on how to get the front drive shafts out. Should just have to undo the torque bolts but I havnt got a t50! Lol nightmare. To the garage I go lol

    Any ideas to what you do if you're rounded off knuckle bolt please?

    • @ABIMOTO
      @ABIMOTO  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Either hammer on a slightly smaller socket or weld on a nut and buzz it out.
      Good luck 👍

      I'm afraid not. Unfortunately it's not that simple

  • @TheWinalot
    @TheWinalot 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice Video dude! Why didn't you use the rattle gun on the T15?

    • @ABIMOTO
      @ABIMOTO  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Didn't want to risk rounding it.

    • @TheWinalot
      @TheWinalot 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ABIMOTO I wondered if there was a specific reason not to rattle gun torx. My feeling is it would be risky, but until I've actually got my hands on something I really can't ssy - I usually work on bikes, ain't nothing that big and torx on bikes...that I know of.

    Great video but please don't have you legs lying under a vehicle like that. Always kneel when working on a vehicle. Maybe uncomfortable but you'll not be trapped if the vehicle accidentally falls.
