We got a 2004 6.0 XLT about 8 months ago. First diesel truck so I've been doing the youtube thing to learn more. Came across your build and have been really enjoying all of the videos. The truck is looking great!
Sincerely appreciate the kind words! Thanks! It’s been an awesome project and probably going to be never ending. There is always the next thing I want to do.
Do the new mirrors power extend and fold in or do you have to do it manually? Gorgeous truck, by the way! I just picked up a 2006 F350 Crew Cab Long Bed as a work/project truck. Thanks for some more ideas….. my wife will be thrilled, LOL.
Yukon on the axles. Upgrade to Dana 60 and Yukon gears/axles. Best thing out there. Busted knuckle did same thing with their excursion 7.3 powerstroke build and it looks awesome.
From one vet to another brother that rig is going to be a beast when you're done with it. I gotta ask though what is your honest opinion of the kill devil motor? It seems like a great fit but before I drop $20k + in motor and Tranny I want to be sure it's worth it.
Not an easy decision, I went back and forth for months. The motor does feel smoother than stock, but if your plan is just to simply daily drive, not worth the cost. I made the decision based on the fact that I want to play with it. And now I have an extremely solid and realizable foundation. And If I got crazy down the road, I could through even more boost and fuel at it without issue. Not sure this gets at what you want to know, but happy to discuss in detail for sure!
To be honest since I'm gettin my ole lady a Tahoe or a bigger SUV and we plan on having youngins this will basically be my Tahoe but I like to play to but I also have plans to use it as a hunting rig and to be honest it's cheaper/more fun to sleep in the excursion than a hotel room which we enjoy doing already. Either way it'll be a family tow/hunting rig no heavy towing just boat and side by side really. Maybe a small camper later down the road.
I subbed and have watched all of the build I'm waiting on a kdd engine right now and haven't decided on a regulated return is yours from kdd because i like where it mounts more then the others that mount near the alternator if you could put a link to it that would be great
That’s definitely the off road we way to go. After doing some more research, I’m leaning towards the Detroit trutrac. Maintenance free and don’t need air or electrons to activate the locking mechanism. But if I was going for an off-road beast, the air lockers would be the way to go.
Awesome video! Regarding the welded piece on the Exhuast up pipe any trouble there? I’ve read that they tend to break over time because of no support. Have you encountered any issues?

I appreciate it and love the build so far
Make a custom box for a compressor where your spare tire goes and put air lockers on it?

There are cheaper kits out there, but I have not had a single issue with these.
Dude if you don't mind your rear end clunking a little bit Detroit locker is the way to go
